Photo Heavy The Food Porn Thread

Doing my first ever pumpkin beef stew.

I think I bought too big of a pumpkin, lol. 2.5# sirloin cubed into 1” chunks, 4 cups of broth, a large vidalia, some flour, 4 healthy taters chunked into 1” chunks, seasonings, and a pound of baby carrots. Oh well better too big than not big enough.

Simple but should be effective for the hunger. In another 2 fracking hours, lol. I’m hungry now. Should be done about 8 EST. It ain’t much to look at, but it’s got a lot of good reviews. Not that I really followed the recipe, lol. I just needed to know how long and what temp to cook the stew and pumpkin in the oven. If this doesn’t suck, I’ll post done pictures later.

Happy to report a success. Only issue I ran into, after two hours inthe oven that pumpkin has very little structural integrity, lol. Poked a hole in it while dishing it out.

It isnt really pretty but it tasted great. So that’s gotta account for something?

It’s got a marinara base. The a layer of egg and sausage. Then cheese and spinach. Tomatoes came off as they weren’t needed

A bit of a tradition in my house. Every year the week after Halloween we make Halloween Candy Cookies. The kids pick about 10 pieces of candy each, it all gets chopped up in big chunks and tossed in the dough instead of chocolate chips. We use the Alton Brown cookie recipe and it’s awesome, and then bake them off to order.

The cookies are wild and no two are ever the same. We have snickers and Kit Kats and Reese’s and Baby Ruth’s and almond joys and Twix and m&ms and Heath bars and probably other things that I can’t remember because there are no rules, everything goes in.

How does she make hers? My mother made a good old fashioned one. She made her own pudding, then put meringue on top and baked it.

That's the way I made it from a good recipe I found a while back. Some prefer the whipped cream version...both delicious, but I slightly prefer the meringue version.
If you use Alton Brown's method, he even makes his own nilla wafers.

I wish I took a picture, but I did not. But today I had a thing called “speed cakes” which were two zebra cakes deep fried, staked with vanilla ice cream on top, with a Colada (think double espresso) on the side to pour over top like an adffogato. It was amazing. Next time I get one I’ll make sure to take a picture.

Buddy and I used to hit the local Mexican restaurant on 6.00 pitcher night (dating myself probably). We never made it to a second pitcher.

I love to cook, but I hate my kitchen. One reason only. I’m severely allergic to something out there. Within a minute or two my nose will be running.

The only thing I can think of, and hopefully others will chime in, is the possibility of mold. Good luck trying to figure it out so you can get to cookin"!
