The Movie Review Thread

I have to get around to seeing that... I hate the theatres. I love the screen size and the surround sound and what not but I hate the people there, the overpriced ticket, and 7 dollar sodas haha

I agree, but I got a $3 ticket for the show.

I just watched "Sex Drive" Such a good and funny movie. and Amanda Crew is so hot.

"Eighteen-year-old Ian Lafferty sets out on a cross country drive with his best friends Lance and Felicia in order to lose his virginity to a red-hot babe he met on the Internet. But the journey, filled with hilarious misadventures and raunchy escapades, teaches all three more than they expected about life and love. Randy, raucous and unexpectedly romantic, Sex Drive follows three friends on the road trip of a lifetime!"

My friend and I bought tickets for High School Musical 3, but snuck into Sex Drive. Yeah we're that BA.

I can't believe you did that! Now they're going to make a High School Musical 4, just because all the kids in Alaska loved it and bought tickets, and I'm going to have to hear about it for another whole year!

I'm sorry Julie, but I think it was just us. But boy was it worth it, that movie was hilarious.

I love the two rocker kids who just don't care about anything and just sit around listening to music with the import tuner.

And they ask everyone to get busy with them, and when a girl finally says yes they freak out, HILARIOUS!

Last movie I watched was Sex Drive as well. I watched the rated first because the unrated told me to watch it first. Then I watched the unrated.

I saw that in theaters with my friend. Because it was rated R, we bought tickets for High School Musical 3, but watched Sex Drive. We both thought it was a hilarious movie!

just watched Zack & Miri Make A Porno...freakin hilarious...put the kids to bed though

I watched The Wrestler the other night. Good film, but sadly, I know that story all too well. Seen it too many times here with other folks I know.

Unleashed with Morgan Freeman and Jet Li - I loved it. Lots of good kung fu action, and a really good story behind it as well.

I will not get off on a wrestling rant, because I do not watch it. But I am friendly with someone that is the lone survivor of a wrestling family from your neck of the woods GB. Saddest family story I have ever heard.

There's only one family you can be talking about, and yep; it's tragic.

I'm referring more to the story line, than anything having to do with wrestling...

Spoiler
A few weeks on the straight and narrow after years of being a lump of poo, then getting pissed when things don't work out and going right back to being a turd. BTW - Marisa Tomei is still hawt!

Yes.

All the girls were in love with Kerry when we'd watch it as kids.

Kevin and I have shared conversations a lot over the past 6 years or so, and he has really turned his life into something extremely positive.

wow that is awesome that you personally know him. I was such a HUGE wrestling fan when I was a kid. Remember watching world class wrestling with the von erichs and the freebirds. I don't watch it anymore but would love to have the chance to talk to someone like him. I cant imagine the stories he must have to share...good and bad.

Recently I saw two movies on cable that I delayed mentioning because I still can't decide if I liked them.

(1) Watching the Detectives - (2007). Cillian Murphy and Lucy Liu. A romantic comedy type movie where Murphy plays a video store owner and Liu plays a quirky customer who becomes his girlfriend.

It definitely wasn't predictable for the most part, which is why I think I liked it. But it also wasn't particularly compelling. It had its funny moments and Murphy and Liu were both good. It also moved along nicely. But it was missing something. I'm still not sure what.

(2) In Bruges - (2008) Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleason, Ralph Fiennes. Gleason and Farrell are hit men. Gleason is the experienced elder and Farrell the brand new protege. After a hit goes bad, they are banished to the medieval city of Bruges, Belgium to hide out. I don't want to say anything else because there are some important plot points.

Some twists were a little artificial, but mostly the film was pretty engrossing. Gleason is particularly good. Notable is the appearance of French actress Clémence Poésy who most would probably recognize from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as Fleur Delacour, and who is just unnaturally beautiful. A couple of scenes are pretty graphic (and not in a horror movie/fantasy kind of way), but the camera keeps the really bad stuff blocked or on the edge of the frame.

I'm not really sure what the point of the movie was, but it is very interesting and offered a lot more depth than the typical Hollywood offering. Still, I'm not sure how I feel about it. I don't want to say why, because it might give away too much.

Anyway, there you have it.
