The USGA has announced the 111 courses, in 43 states where local qualifying will be taking place this year for the US Open.

You have to be a Professional or an index no higher than 1.4.

Any THPers going to try and qualify? Anyone plan on getting out and playing any of these courses?

My handicap is off by a factor of 10, so I'm out.

We could still get down and play the North Kingstown RI course in May or June since it's public, would be pretty cool to play a qualifying course around the tournament, at least conditions should be good.
 
I'm kinda surprised about the course that got the qualifier in the Tampa Bay Area. Feather Sound? Really?
 
I'd love to try this *someday*. I still have a lot of work to do before I'm actually there though.

Interestingly, the two courses hosting qualifiers that I've played (Bardstown, KY and Madison, WI) I've shot 74-75.

I know it's delusional to think about qualifying, but maybe thinking about the Senior Open gives me enough years to improve :p
 
Always like watching for scores from "brand names" in these qualifiers

Nice list - I have played a few of these courses. DC Ranch in Scottsdale is an easy track, kinda gimmicky. Southern Dunes in Maricopa, AZ is a solid track.
Hope they post scores at each course somewhere.
 
Once upon a time I thought about trying, but I didn't. My twin brother and our good friend both did try that year. My brother missed the cut by 5, my friend missed by 2. It was at a pretty hard track in KC called Shadow Glen Golf Club. I played a practice round with them before the event, shot a 79 as I recall. It was good I didn't waste my money. lol

The courses they have listed in Florida are pretty stout courses except for Timacuan. Weston Hills tour course is a beast and I have always thought it should hold a tour event.
 
Really wish I could commit to something like this but I know I will never have the game for this. Really like seeing what courses they pick though some sound familiar
 
One of the courses is about 20 minutes from me. Now to drop that handicap haha
 
Has a THP'er qualified in the past?
 
I hope to give the Mid Am a shot next year, but will still need serious work in my cap to be able to. I played scratch in my younger years, but don't know if I have the time now.
 
Winchell is getting married at Weymouth CC this summer and we're playing there as part of his wedding package. May be a good prep round lol

I was going to attempt qualifying this year but my back injury changed that plan. I'll try again next year.

My home course, La Purisima is on the list. They've had it there every year since I can remember. I rarely break 90 there, so I know its not worth trying. The winning score is usually just under par. The biggest name I remember seeing there a few years ago was Duffy Waldorf, I think he shot a 75.
 
I'm close.... And there is one just down in Indy.

Still have no shot at qualifying. Haha
 
One day. A guy can dream right? With hard work and some spare time I could make this happen. Definitely would be fun to give it a go.
 
Not really impressed with the Illinois courses chosen....But then again I won't be playing. I've got a bunch of strokes to lose first! Eeek.
 
If you had the handicap to be able to attempt to qualify how much would it cost to try?

Hdcp isn't quite there. Bethpage Black is one I'm hoping to play this year and worthington manor here isn Md is on my list if wants for this year
