What cigar did you smoke today?

Ambos Mundos Bellicosa while waiting for everyone to show up for the pre invitational round.

I'm insanely jealous of the cigar, and the golf and golfing with THPers. DARN YOU!!! That looks like a nice one!

Crap. I knew I forgot something for this Texas trip. I guess I'll save the Cubans for The Outing.

Thats not nice!! I have some extras if you need them.

Anyone feel like giving me a run down in what to look for in a good cigar and some more moderately budgeted priced ones to look into. I love cigars but have no real idea what makes one better than the other,quaility,etc...

Honestly, the best advice I can give you is to go to a local shop, tell them how much you want to spend, and what sort of profile you are looking for.

Jrod has a cheaper brand he really likes. I've smoked a few, but can't remember the name.

Omar ortez originals. The only problem is you have to buy 90 at a time but when you break it down it only ends up being a out 2.50 a stick.

I like that Sun Soaked one you gave me.

When I get to a real computer I will gladly give you some suggestions.

Very newbish, but I like Gurkha because the rings look cool. Makes me feel cutting edge.

Gurkha is a great cigar but they are overpriced and all the blends seem to taste pretty much the same. Just IMO.

I could see that.

Hey gents. Just smoked an acid kuba kuba cigar. Mild and a good smoke.

Question for you all. My fiancé brought me back a pack of 10 smaller cigars from the Dominican Republic which are in a wooden tray wrapped in plastic. Would I remove the plastic? Or just set them in my humidor as-is?

Acids are nice.

I always remove anything from singles I buy before placing them in my humidor.

As far as what to look for the best thing you can do is go into a local shop and talk to them as taste is so personal. I prefer more of a back palette/throat hit but some like more of a front palette. Then there is the actual flavor as to a Maduro, Natural, Cameroon. Then the wraper, filler, binder will create taste/hit as well. I prefer the torpedo style because generally the best rollers in the company are the ones that make the torpedoes.

With cigars price doesnt always mean quality especially because of preference and the different types. For example my favorite cigar of all time is a Tatuaje Anarchy which was $16 (discontinued), my next would be My Father Limited Edition 2010 it went for $20 (discontinued), then would be the My Father Classic Cedro Deluxe Eminentes which is $8.75, but I have also had many Padron, Rocky Patel, Winston Churchill which were well over $20 that I did not enjoy nearly as much as the 3 above.

Some of my top "budget cigars (4-6 bucks) are:

Tatuaje Series P Short Robusto
Ambos Mundos Toro 1
La Aroma De Cuba New Blend Belicoso
La Reloba Habano Corona

I'd take the plastic off and let them come to humidity and temp with the rest of the humidor.

Just got back from Esteli, Nicaragua and got to tour the fields and factories used by My Father Cigars for 4 days. We toured the fields with Don Pepin Garcia and the factory with his son Jaime Garcia and smoked some wonderful fresh rolled cigars.

Curing barn with fires lit to help dry the tobacco. I had to leave the shutter open a long time to capture this one, was pretty dark in here.

You have no idea how jealous I am right now. I love everything My Father!!

Same here, was my second trip there ;) I was hoping to get to try some of the new stuff they have coming out, but to no avail.

Well thats not very nice of them! I actually have a Cedro Deluxe in my hand right now. I think I know where I will be suggesting to the wife for our summer vacation!

Not sure they are open to the public, I went as a retailer with our cigar shop. Last year I went as a consumer as part of the Drew Estate Cigar Safari though. You don't want to be there in the summer bro, too damn hot!! March is ideal, weather is nice and it's the "dry" season.

Ill just show up with my collection of wrappers from there cigars. After they see that I have personally funded that facility they will have no choice but to let me in!!
