This past year has been brutal for me and my ability to play. I'm 44 now and have always been relatively healthy and able to play golf. I Just had to withdraw from Texas Mid Am & Texas Am (and after cutoff date to get refund) with an eye problem where I lost a lot of my vision. I'm back at about 85% & now and I've strained my back something fierce and headed to specialist tomorrow.
Kinda loving THP right now so I can read about golf while not getting to play.

Any of you battling injury & on shelf for awhile or gone thru this before. I can't wait to get back to playing 3-4 times a week

I've 2 serious bouts with the same back issue over the last 5 years. I'm both cases not only has golf been pit on the shelf so has much of daily activity for pretty extensive periods of time. Part of that is my own persistence to avoid surgery which I have some far. Once I got through the initial roadblock Thomas time, golf became my motivation to fight through each day. I still have pain almost daily 9 months into this current bout. Seriously though Golf has helped motivational and also has helped with the back pain by making me work on flexibility which is completely terrible from where I was pre injury and also taking better care of myself as whole. If I have a worse day or 2 I skip swinging and work on stretching or sometimes just icing and not straining it.

I had a severely pulled groin last September. It really sucker, but I did try to compete on it.

Arthritis in my upper arms sidelined me for about half of 2014. Switched to all graphite, except putter, in December of 2014 and no issues since then.

This year I have delt with back surgery which had me out for 3.5 months and an ankle sprain which was another 2 months. Before this I have had no injuries to speak of. Both were caused by work, after the second one I quit the job a trend was occurring I did not like. I will keep my fingers crossed for sometime to come

Tendinitis!!!

I have hit several thousand balls and finally starting to realize that golf can be damaging. I have battles with left thumb and Achilles tendinitis. I can understand that my left thumb supports the club at the top of the swing but I have no idea how I developed a burning in my right heel. Running???

I have started physical therapy sessions on my Achilles and hopefully I can return 100%. There is a lot of walking in golf and any injury in your feet and you will be reminded every single step you take. Ouch......

The remedy?

Rest, lots of stretching, massage, massage, ultra sound, rest, rest, & rest. The rest part is hardest.

In late 2013 I had surgery to repair a herniated disc in my lower back so that sidelined me until 2014. Right around the time I was feeling sorta good and golfing again I had to have abdominal surgery. This summer I've been back at it but there are days my back is not feeling too well. I just take it easy and thank God I can golf at all!

I've pulled muscles in my back, several times, but the only injury to ever get me to back out was a left MCL sprain.

I had golfers elbow in 2012. Shut it down for a month after the Morgan Cup and haven't had any issues since.

My lower back however, is another story. I take four Tylenols before every round.

For 2013 I was out with shoulder problems that turned out to be a torn Labrum. I had to have surgery a couple weeks ago after an MRI showed it was more or less destroyed. So I'm out of the next 6-9 months at best. I have one arm and hope to be putting in a couple weeks at least. Prior to that a left high ankle sprain shelved me for a month or so a couple years ago.

Just a bruised ego. In all seriousness sorry to hear about all your pain.

I was out for nearly 5 years after tearing my plantar fascia something wicked!
I haven't played in months thanks to tearing ligaments and tendons in my left elbow. Surgery nearly 4 weeks ago for that, can't wait to get back into it.

Torn ACL kept me out for an entire season...then it took another season to get my swing speed back.

I don't wish that injury upon anyone, ever.

If I could have empathy for a +2.3 I would in all seriousness, I hope u get back soon. Sounds painful

At the moment strained ligaments in my left wrist that I've aggravated by hitting a tree root. Not on purpose. Strained right bicep as well. However that seems very minor compared to the others in this thread! Torn plantar fascia...I feel for you man.

Spine/neck surgery in 2013 (down 5 months), times of lower back issues some days and vertigo. Getting old sucks.........

I tore my ACL and MCL playing football at age 17. I am now 24 and it still bothers me.

I usually wear a lightweight brace.

Knee injuries suck.

I feel for you guys that have injured your knees! I can only imagine how painful it must be. The rehab time would drive me nuts!

As great as doctors are anymore, you're just never the same no matter what.

Last two years has been a bit much for me and each one seems to take a little longer to return back to normal, but that's an age thing I guess. Currently off due to a trapped nerve in my shoulder which is caused by a bulging disc in y upper back.

Also had a rotator cuff issue, bulging disc in the lower back, plantar fascia issue (from wearing to flat a golf shoes) and ligament damage to my ankle after being hit by a car.

I've played through a few things I probably shouldn't have. The ones that resulted in an extended layoff -
ACL as a young man, MCL other knee as a not so young man. That one still bothers me. I didn't quit, but played less often, when the tennis/golfers elbow got really bad. Which is the one time I probably should have stopped.

I am dealing with a PCL and MCL tear as well as a Meniscus issue. The PCL and MCL weren't bad enough to require surgery as the were just partials, but the meniscus will need to be fixed this winter. The Doctor stated that If it isn't popping or locking up, I can deal with it. Only problem is it is starting to get real painful after playing 18. Usually a few tylenols take care of it.

I had a herniated disk in my lower back (L7) that totally kept me from playing for 4 months and now 13 months just starting to get to the point where I don't flinch sometime during my golf swing.
