I wrote up reviews for both Kaluhyat and Atunyote Golf Clubs, but figured I would create another thread to show off some of the pictures that I snapped.

Turning Stone is located between Syracuse and Albany in upstate New York--however much closer to Syracuse (35 minutes) than Albany (75 minutes).

In addition to the casino, there are five golf courses (three of them championship caliber), a golf dome and superstore, three hotels, a spa, and countless restaurants all on the resort property.

Located right on the resort grounds are Shenendoah and Kaluhyat (Course Review here: http://www.thehackersparadise.com/f...hyat-Golf-Club-at-Turning-Stone-Resort-Casino) Golf Clubs (both Championship level). They share putting greens, driving range, pro shop, locker room, and grill.

Atunyote Golf Club (Championship level) is located 4.5 miles away and has hosted a few PGA Tournaments in the past. For my course review of Atunyote, here is the direct link: http://www.thehackersparadise.com/f...yote-Golf-Club-at-Turning-Stone-Resort-Casino

Sandstone Golf Club is a nine-hole par 3 course that is located across the street from the Casino parking garage.

And finally, Pleasant Knolls is a player-friendly nine-hole par 36 recreational golf course 2.5 miles from the Casino.

I'll start with some pics of the clubhouse and other shared facilities at Shendoah/Kaluhyat and then break out the course photos over a couple separate posts.

Welcome to Turning Stone!

I thought this cart cutout on the 1st green was cool, and that it would be on every hole--it wasn't. Oh well....

Everything about that place looks fantastic! Gethering north perhaps.

You have some photography here, Peter. I look forward to your next exposé.

Thanks OC. Did I read it right that the "expected" pace of play was closer to 5 hours?
Is that real? Do you know if they enforce that at all? Or is it one of those things where even longer rounds exist frequently because its a "resort" and they do not really have rangers out there?

Really cool looking courses. Thanks for posting

That's an awesome looking place, Thanks for sharing .

Last time I played there it was 4.5 hours . Our group was waiting some at one point a ranger did come out and have the group in front of us let us go through. Not sure if that is the norm or not.

That said I could easily see a 5 hour+ round at Kaluhyat for many people not an easy course and lots of opportunities to lose balls

I pulled that right from the Turning Stone website. It also says this: "there are times when the pace of play will be shorter or longer based on cart path policies and business levels. If you'd like to play at a faster or slower pace of play please contact a member of the professional staff at…."

Being the first group out, as a threesome in each round, we played both Kaluhyat and Atunyote in around 4 hours.

However…Shenendoah, the course I didn't play this weekend, is the course that ddec, Plin, moosejaa, and I played the NYSGA Tournament at in early April and that round was 5.5 hours.

Even at 5.5 hours though, the round didn't seem that long. The resort is HUGE, and the courses are each spread over a vast area. I don't remember waiting all that much (one instance where the group in front of us needed a ruling and had to call in a rules official on a drop--seriously) during that Tournament and I don't remember seeing the group behind us either.

My guess would be that their "goal" pace of play is a fair estimate of being a resort where guests may not play all that much, or guys who play all the time and spend too much time looking for lost balls in the fescue rough. We were told the reason the snack shed was closed between the 8th and 9th holes was for pace of play, so they are very aware that groups can slow down at any time if given a reason.

We saw quite a few rangers out on the course; however, at our pace, they simply drove on by. I would have to report back on whether they "enforce" pace of play or not.

Man that place looks awesome pete!

Thanks. If it was 5.5 hours and you were not waiting, could you guys have been the issue? I say that not as a joke, but were people waiting on you?
