The only caveat is that I will have my wife with me. She doesn't play but I can't leave her two days in a row. Would it be okay if she rides along Sunday? I have no problem with paying for an extra cart. If she can I'm 100% in and if not than I'm out. Have to keep the boss happy.

Just got the last handicap I needed.

My spreadsheet is at work, so I'll have to update the groupings/tee times tomorrow. Looks like the average team handicaps are going to be really tight.
 
Friday & Sunday groups have been adjusted to make Friday's team best ball competition fair as possible. As I stated before, we'll have a couple of 3 man groups. To make it even for them, their groups have a lower team handicap average.

I also tried to make sure that no one is in a group on Sunday with anyone that they played with on Friday to give us all a chance to meet new folks. Who knows how we'll be paired up on Saturday. I hope everyone is happy with their pairings because its a pain in the butt to move them around & keep the strokes equitable.

Last thing to bring up for the Friday competition is strokes in the team best ball. How do we want to handle that? I propose that we take the highest handicap of the people playing & reduce it by whatever percentage it takes to make it equal a handicap of 18 & then apply that percentage to everyones handicap. This way no one gets more than 1 stroke per hole. It may sound complicated, but its not.

Example:
Highest handicap is 23.6
23.6 reduced by 23.7% is 18
This person would get a stroke on all 18 holes in the team best ball competiton.

My handicap index is 10.9
Reduced by 23.7%, my handicap for the team best ball would be 8.3
I would get a stroke on the 8 hardest holes.


Skins will be optional & will be gross score.

This. I said I had no idea when we were coming to town so hold me off until things were more solid. I'm pretty much there as a filler spot.
 
I will like to go on the record, regardless of my tee shots and approach shots (yes they are straight sometimes) and what MikeG, Jank, and TBT say with regards to playing better than a 24, I am no sandbagger lol. Wait to I get on the putting green, yes I am working on it.

I posted that you didn't know if you could make it or not & we'll shuffle the teams as necessary if needed. Nothing is written in stone.
 
Thanks for setting this up again Shakey. I don't want to complicate this for you, the only thing is I get in at 11:00 to Hobby, I think the 1:30 tee time may be cutting it close for me if it's a 2 hour drive from Houston to Lake Charles.

I'll move you back to the 3pm tee time with O'Carrol & v.man to give you time to get your luggage, rental & make the 2.5 hour drive in.

Does anyone else have time concerns?

Watching GC Morning Drive and the snipets of the course is driving me to get my game better for this event. I want my free ride into the championship.
 
Having recently moved to Houston from Beaumont, Gray was a regular for me but never did Contraband at l'auberge also did the national in Westlake which is also a good track. What are they going to call the course they're building for the new Golden Nugget?

I haven't heard since the the casino license owner changed from Ameristar to Pinnacle. I went to a LC chamber of commerce meeting back when Ameristar still owned the license. They gave a presentation that reviewed the golf course & I think it could be nicer than Contraband Bayou. More holes along the river & lots more water in general.
 
Looking forward to teeing it up, wish there wasn't snow on the ground so I could go practice...

Is there a lot of first-timers? Maybe attending an event will be the key to additional participation?
 
Anyone playing a Sunday afternoon round? My plane doesn't leave Houston until around 9:30pm and should have enough time for an afternoon round before driving to the airport.

I think the DFW crew will be driving back post round Sunday morning. Hopefully someone is able to hang around for an afternoon round.

Daughter will be staying at her moms that weekend so I'm in for a Friday practice round, do we know yet how early we're playing Saturday? My google drive says 1:52 door to door though I'm sure I can do it shorter, but if it's an 8am start that may be the determining factor in hotel on Friday or no. If I don't have a class to teach on Thursday I'd be up for Gray as well but don't know that yet
