The PGA Tour is back again and what that means is player info. With the launch of The Tour Spot on THP, the goal is to provide more information than ever before on players that are both at the top of the leaderboard and guys that you may not immediately think of that have curious bag setups. Today we have a really interesting look at TaylorMade staffer Kenny Perry. Why is it interesting? Take a look at the bag of this tour legend and you be the judge.
Driver – TaylorMade Burner SuperFast 9.5*
FW Woods – TaylorMade Burner 14.5*
Hybrid – TaylorMade Rescue 17.5*
Irons – TaylorMade Burner 2.0 (tour issue) 3-SW
Wedges – Cleveland CG16 60*
Putter – Odyssey White Ice Rossie
Ball – Titleist Pro V1x
One thing really stands out in this and that is when you think of tour level golfers, you think of blade wedges and while many golfers have made the switch to a cavity back iron that offers perimeter weighting, few have done that in their wedges. Kenny Perry has done just that using the Burner 2.0 wedges in both PW & SW and then opting to make the switch to a blade for the LW and bagging the new Cleveland CG16 60*.
Interesting stuff happens in the bags of the incredibly talented guys on tour and each week The Tour Spot will bring that news to you.
That is – cool? Strange? Interesting? I guess as long as those wedges are working for him, why mess up a good thing? Thanks for the info!
That is very interesting regarding Kenny’s wedges. Great info as usual on THP!
Oh yeah, the Burner 2.0s are finding their way on tour! I would love to see the differences between mine and the “tour issue” ones he has.
I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed, but no GW, a 14.5 FW (rather than 13* 3 wood), but what really gets me is a long hybrid in the 17.5 yet still keeps a 3 iron. He’s the money maker, just seems like he’s taking up extra space at the sake of another wedge.
KP, disproving internet golfers on Tour!!! I love it! He’s got some sharp irons in his bag, that’s for sure.
like the wedge mix
I don’t think he’ll bag these long before he goes to the forged MC irons.
Awsome WITB. I like watching Kenny play.
I’ve tried the Burner wedges and I must say I’m surprised to see this. Not saying they’re a bad club, quite the opposite from a full shot, but I just couldn’t play a feel shot with them. Still, what works for one player…..
