Off Course is back this week with a fantastic show and this is episode 191. Hosted by Dan Edwards, each Friday he gives you a deep look into the world of golf and equipment in a way unlike any other podcast has done before. Today, Josh Babbitt joins the show to recap what we saw, liked and heard at the 2024 PGA Merchandise Show.
It wouldn’t be Off Course without some tangents, but Dan and Josh breakdown some winners and losers from the PGA Show recap and talk a bit about how the show functions. This show has a lot going on and is one you will not want to miss as Josh Babbitt goes Off Course.

Episode 191 is here and Dan and Josh discuss the following topics.
The 2024 PGA Show Recap
What Does 10K Mean
Breaking a Window on the Golf Course
Fixing PGA Tour Coverage
And so much more

Love me some Off Course. This one is going to deliver, it’ll be a great listen on the way to work today.
Download on process, will listen sometime today. I was just thinking of this yesterday when I was listening to another podcast’s winners and losers at the PGA Show. Always like to hear from a veteran @JB and his perspective on the show and its’ future.
Sounds like a good one. Will be in my truck shortly. It will be 1st listen.
Dialed up and ready to go!!!

Just turned it on ?
100% more inclined to help a dog vs a person ?
I really enjoyed your “long winded” answer @JB . Pretty cool that 4 people from different companies discussed and agreed on the difficulty of squaring the face to path with higher MOI.

To expand on that, its not that they agreed on the difficulty of squaring a driver with higher MOI, that with all design elements sacrifice is made, be it speed, club squaring, etc.

Thanks @JB ! I’m looking forward to future podcast explaining that. I agree that face technology is underrated in comparison to MOI in forgiveness for clubs.
Marketing evolution is key for success of product as it evolves.

Sky fisting ??
about 15 min in.. Interesting talk so far..
The MOI thing makes total sense to me. I know this is extremely simplistic, But! I think of increasing MOI in a similar fashion to tire rolling resistance.. The larger and heavier you make the head, the more it is going to want to resist twisting and turning. that is a good thing at impact but it “could” make the head slower to square as well. Similar to putting a bigger and or heavier tire on your car is going to reduce MPG..
PGAT Enterprise creates a bigger divide IMO @JB. I don’t see this fixing anything, other than lining pockets
Always an adventure hahaha

Every episode is a mental marathon.
You’re both all over the place and keeping it on track. Great host, as always.

That could be an entire other show
Can we all agree @JB is always off course?
Secondly, I feel vindicated about being as excited as I was in the Ai Smoke driver thread about how consistent the spin is on the Triple Diamond.
Really enjoyed this one, great listen. Thanks for not sugar coating it, any of it
At least pay the deductible on the window issue

I have said it a few times. The pga tour is terminal and has a signed DNR.
I am super bummed as this was my primary sport entertainment.
Would love to go to this one year but don’t want to run into JB or Dan or James or any of the many THP cronnies who are losers and idiots
Down for some @Canadan lesson content.. I feel like it needs video and commentary and breakdown.

It’ll be an easy swap to LIV.
There’s no point in taking sides at this point, even the PGA Tour jumped ship.

It’s just a bummer. I want all the best to compete together. The PGA tour sucks..

hahaha, I need to start a goFundme for GolfTec lessons
Enjoyed the listen today. The whole MOI and club face squaring part made me feel a little like I knew what I was talking about and a little like I didn’t know anything at the same time. Heavy weight forward in my Paradym TD turned left a lot easier for me than heavy weight back and I didn’t understand why. It makes sense and seems a little obvious now.

I want more!!
So I went back and listened again and really connected on the production of pga tour events having watched the last couple. Man those takes are spot on. Especially the comment @JB made about going to some random dude who’s +12 with a 50ft putt. He’s either making it or getting eaten by an animal. It reminds me of 2010 era poker coverage. Every hand was going to turn into a big pot and eventually the audience wanted something different. They now have something similar to what you guys mentioned in the pod with streamed access to every hand during major tournaments and I think golf needs to go in this direction.
If you want to grow the game, give the audience more access to the golf. Not less
