The current golf ball market is not only blessed with many options as far as price point and performance, but also choices in color. The most popular featured below in the graphic, others exist such as orange, pink, red and more. THP Golf is doing an informal survey for a future article and what better way to gather some data than with the help of THP readers and their thoughts on golf ball color.
Exploring the colors of golf balls is far different than it was just a decade ago when the choice for a premium ball with a urethane cover consisted basically of white or white. Now, brands have gone to different levels to appease all types of golfers, including the advent of Truvis, which has gained a huge amount of popularity in such a short time and can be found in the Callaway Chrome Soft line of balls. Below is a THP TV spot with Jason Finley from Callaway Golf discussing Truvis and the reasons that golfers are enjoying it.

Back in 2016, Volvik, a brand popular in the Asian market, brought their Vivid line of golf balls to the North American market. This brought the first matte finish golf ball in multiple colors to add to the choices available and even signed polarizing tour player, Bubba Watson to a deal in 2017.
That brings us back to the survey and wanting your input. In the comments section below, tell us your preference of golf ball color and the reason for that choice. You can be as detailed or quick as you would like and every comment is read and noted.

I’ve only ever played White and Yellow balls and I much prefer the White. I’m not really good enough to start spending a ton on balls, so I haven’t tried any of the Volviks.
Yellow Truvis. I find yellow easier to track than white, and definitely enjoy the Truvis pattern, which I think helps with tracking as well.
White for the summer season.
Travis yellow/black for the fall, winter and early spring because it is so much easier to spot amongst the dormant grasses.
White ball most of the time. Looking switch things up this and maybe play with some truvis and yellow balls for better visibility. I found 2 vise hot pink balls and they were really to spot in the rough and fairways.
I use white now but started with yellow and orange. I lost a lot of balls so the idea was that orange first and then yellow second would be easier to find off the fairway where I consistently find myself. That made logical sense but didn’t hold up. Any shading at all and the sun going done or it being overcast greatly changes the ability to see color. White just “popped” more under a variety of conditions. So now I roll a white ball regularly. I like some of the newer color schemes but white is the least complicated.
Currently play red and white chrome soft truvis. Love the ball, love the look around the greens. However, find it a little more difficult to spot in the fall or at dusk. Tried the truvis black and yellow and have the same issue. Almost feel like the truvis pattern camouflages the ball in certain circumstances. Played with my brother who was playing one of the vibrant red volvik balls and did not have that issue.
Srixon yellow or white. I’m not especially adventurous.
I play Chrome Soft and really like the Truvis (any color) for short game work but I game the the solid white Chrome Soft. For some reason the white ones are just easier for me to follow in in flight and to spot when I’m looking for the crooked ones?
I prefer Truvis to any other golf ball – especially the yellow and black. However, I switched to Snell this year so I no longer get to play the Yellow and Black Truvis.
Outside of Truvis, white is the only color I want to play.
I’m a traditional white ball kinda guy. I have tried the Truvis balls. They’re fun to watch around the greens, but I find them distracting. And I’ve never liked yellow golf balls.
Yellow / Lime. And preferable a matte finish.
I simply like the neon yellow/lime color and given that most still play a white ball it’s always easy to identify mine
Truvis but they need more colors and options. Didn’t like the first iteration with Red, but the other colors I really dig.
Yellow ProV1 or B330 RXS
I have played all 3 (yellow, white and TRUVIS) however I mostly game the white. I’ll play yellow usually around the the shoulder seasons and play the TRUVIS when I feel like I need to shake something up but I am a big fan of those.
Yellow for me. I can see em better in the air (I think)!
Yellow, as I have gotten older even with new glasses I still have problems with the white it bright sun.
White, absolutely. Truvis is fun once in a while but it’s not my preference.
I really love the matte green/yellow Volvik Vivid. I just find it much easier to follow in the air and finding in the grass. The color just stands out.
I can see myself gaming the green Volvik. The color appeals to me. I can play a white ball everyday. Maybe its time for not so everyday color.
I play a white ball 95 percent of the time. I will play a colored ball if conditions warrant it. I have only messed around a little bit with a truvis and have really enjoyed it.
I’ve always played white value but lately have been loving the Truvis. If I could find some of the blue ones I’d play those the majority of the time.
I love the look of the Volvik but was never really impressed with the ball.
This season’s preference was Orange. Shows up great in the rough, stands out like crazy in the air.
I want bright colors that stand out. Hate it when my partner asks “Is that my ball” from 50 yards away when looking at 2 white balls. If it is orange, I know it is mine.
The optic yellow ball is now my first choice.
My eyes can’t pick up a white ball once its reached its peak.
The brightest possible yellow I can find. I can track the yellow further than I can track the standard white balls. They’re also very easy to find in the rough.
I’ve always been a more traditional guy. I prefer white over yellow, especially at address. While I would love to like yellow for visibility when looking for my ball, I prefer traditional white balls.
That being said, I do also play the Chromesoft truvis balls off and on. I really do love them a lot.
But if I were to cboose my number 1. Good old traditional white for me
I play predominantly white golf balls, but have played the high visibility yellow balls before.. certain trikes of the year they are easier to find and follow through the air.
I play the orange Volvik Crystal ball. I can spot an orange golf ball a mile away, in the rough or fairway. A yellow ball is a bit better. A white ball, forget it. Maybe it’s the sunglasses. When I play with my men’s golf group, I always know which one is mine.
I’m a big fan of the trivia yellow, looks good easy to see, and I enjoy the visual representation of spin around the green. Also from a durability standpoint seems to look better longer.
White, most of the year, yellows in the fall and spring. But I really am not that picky
White 100%. For some reason, I’ve never had a good round with a yellow ball (or any color ball for that matter) so it might all be in my head but I’m just gonna stick with my white balls.
