When it comes to distance measuring devices, the laser rangefinder has been around for a number of years and is the choice of many golfers looking for precise yardages to anything they can see on the golf course. Bushnell, a company that is virtually a household name, is one of the manufacturers that golfers have looked to for years to provide these devices and they have never failed to deliver.
The Tour V2 came out a few years ago and was an instant hit for golfers of all skill levels. It provided accurate readings in a form factor that many players gravitated towards. The simple-in-design device offered the perfect compliment for someone looking to take their game to the next level.

Display
Like the Tour V2 before it, the Bushnell Tour V3 offers a clean and crisp display of distances. The 5x magnification shines here, as the device picks up just about anything you are aiming it. In addition, the information is all right in front of you and easy to read. The vivid display in red was a nice added feature last year, and while the new V3 does not feature that, the unit gave no issues in gathering the information.
Results
The biggest question going into any device touting new advancements and features is whether or not it works. The new JOLT technology not only works, it is the best new feature to come along in rangefinder technology in a number of years. Bold statement? Absolutely, but it makes this device a joy to use and gives you the confidence that you are hitting the pins when necessary. The PinSeeker technology in the Bushnell devices delivers like few can in picking up flags from rather long distances, and while many golfers feel that it is overkill, having total distance to the flag from all over the course gives one the ability to plan out their shots heading into the hole, even if that involves choosing a number for a layup.
Overall
The Tour V3 is not only an advancement from the prior model that was so well received; it adds a feature that makes the laser accessory more usable and more trusted. For more information on this or any other Bushnell distance measuring device, check out their website at www.bushnellgolf.com.
The company offers the Tour V3 for $299 and a model with slope (not reviewed) for $399.
The jolt technology sure is interesting. I’m not sure it’s something that I would necessarily need but I’m betting that once I had it I wouldn’t want to be without it.
Great review JB . This is the top of my wish list for the upcoming birthday. Link forwarded to the appropriate parties.
Nice thoughts here JB! Sounds like they took a proven performer in the V2 and added some cool technology and perhaps even made it a bit smaller. I do wish they would have added the red display as I absolutely love it in my Z6 and is a must have for me especially playing late in the day after work, etc.
Definitely one I’ll look at when I’m in the market again. I really do feel like the Pin Seeker tech is superior to other brands.
The jolt technology and 5x site sounds great. The V2 is an excellent rangefinder so the V3 with these new advancements has to be pretty special.
This is the only thing really missing from my bag right now and possibly the #1 thing that would help drop strokes on my game. Can’t beat Bushnell in the bag and this one with Jolt technology looks great!
I can’t wait to try the JOLT in person. Great review and info!!!
This is the front runner for me, should I choose to purchase a high end rangefinder this springs. Great information in the review.
Thanks for the review Josh,
No doubt these Bushnell models provide accurate reading. I personally prefer the SureShot type design that can easily fit in your seat compartment or even your golf bag.
I just find it easier to get out when it comes to my turn to get ready to hit.
Solid review JB, the JOLT technology is very interesting. I do plan to check it out.
I recently bought the slope V3. The other three guys in our normal foursome all have non slope models and they thought they were accurate – until they then had new compensated distances to comtemplate.
An extra four or five compensated yards can make all the difference especially in the wind. Bushnell has a winner on their hands and I’m playing better golf because I now know one more variable than I did before.
Man for people with shaky hands(this guy) that Jolt tech sounds like a must. Great review
I just purchased a Tour V3 however my unit seems to be a bit buggy. After the intial click and yardage reading the optics tend to blur and it makes the yardage and crosshair almost illegible. My initial thought was it was a bad battery that my unit came with, however I’m still experiencing this problem with a brand new out of box battery. Has anyone else experienced this type of problem. Thanks.
Not at all. In fact ours is still working perfectly.
I’m considering getting the pro 1m but my local bushnell distributor recommended the v3. Does anyone have any thoughts, pro/cons, hates/loves of either? I do prefer the horizontal rather than vertical piece.
This product was a great buy. I had my doubts about the “JOLT” tech, but it is very accurate. If you shoot a house or somthing of that nature, you get no jolt. But if you shoot somthing and the rangefinder picks up various yardages, it will vibrate and give you the closest yardage. Very impressed with this purchase. I prefer this product to the z6 because of the price and also because I actually find it hard to read the red display (maybe I’m a bit color blind, but I cant stand the red display)
JUST PURCHASED TOUR v3 HOW DO I DETERMINE IT HAS SLOPE FUNCTION?
Tour model does not come w/slope. You can’t use models w/slope in any usga tourneys.
