Off Course is back this week with a fantastic show and this one is a milestone of episode 150. Hosted by Dan Edwards, each Friday he gives you a deep look into the world of golf and equipment in a way unlike any other podcast has done before. Today, the founder of Club Champion, Nick Sherburne joins the show and they discuss what makes club fitting a challenge.
It wouldn’t be Off Course without some tangents, but Dan and Nick go into the growth of Club Champion as well as the challenging aspect of club fitting. This show has a lot going on and is one you will not want to miss as the Dean of Club Champion University goes Off Course.

Episode 150 is here and Dan and Nick discuss the following topics.
The Growth of Club Champion
Going Down Social Media Rabbit Holes
What Makes a Fitting Challenging

This stat just stood out to me. "We get about 1 million swings on Trackman in a month"
That is some really valuable data.
I know it’s said in jest but a lot of people listen to THP Radio.
I know, I really don’t have much on @Canadan so I took my cheap shot early.
I know it’s something I’d love to go deeper about with Nick…
Imagine the kind of swing data they have at their disposal.. It’s kind of crazy.
Do they bank it all? They could sell that data.. Or at min share with OEMs. That is real world results.
Could you imagine the OEMs R&D with data like that?
I think Callaway (and probably others) with AI can to some degree or even more replicate those swings. But I do think real world data from someone that is none denominational as I like to call it, is good.
When we were at the ECPC they had a robot that they were hitting shot after shot after shot for the whole time we were there. They had a different company’s driver set up. It may not matter, but I wont say which. So I think most likely "ALL" club designers are testing other companies products and hitting them to see what’s in the sausage. But, getting a million swings a month from all walks of life could be super valuable.
Also learned that @Canadan doesn’t play waterpolo. Got it.
Interesting, but not surprising.
Most of the members in our Men’s group have never been fit for clubs and it is mind boggling to me why they don’t do it when they’ve witnessed firsthand the improved golf game of those that have.
For sure. Feedback seems really, really high. Cool to hear it’s what CC is seeing as well.
Its always a lot of fun to me when I get to play these nice clubs to go peek at what is in the bags of the members when I can.
Really good point about how many people spend lots of time and money on private clubs but won’t spend a relatively small amount on decent clubs.
It’s crazy how many golfers do that eh? Blows my mind what their monthly statements look like, but won’t drop a dime on some decent clubs.
The odd thing is, some wear it like a badge of honor and act like it’s a waste of money to spend on new and better equipment.
….and then lose their mind when they are the shortest in their group or not getting any forgiveness.
So funny. And weird.
