Off Course is back this week with a fantastic show and this one is a milestone of episode 150. Hosted by Dan Edwards, each Friday he gives you a deep look into the world of golf and equipment in a way unlike any other podcast has done before. Today, the founder of Club Champion, Nick Sherburne joins the show and they discuss what makes club fitting a challenge.
It wouldn’t be Off Course without some tangents, but Dan and Nick go into the growth of Club Champion as well as the challenging aspect of club fitting. This show has a lot going on and is one you will not want to miss as the Dean of Club Champion University goes Off Course.
Episode 150 is here and Dan and Nick discuss the following topics.
The Growth of Club Champion
Going Down Social Media Rabbit Holes
What Makes a Fitting Challenging
The Dean of Club Champion University
And so much more

Congrats on 150!
This is a fun show for #150. Nick is such a great guest due to both his knowledge and delivery.
This stat just stood out to me. “We get about 1 million swings on Trackman in a month”
That is some really valuable data.
150 is an awesome goal to reach
jesus a million swings a month in data? thats insane
150! @Canadan we will celebrate today with all 150 listeneners.
I have a drive today that this should suit well. Always interested to hear what Nick has to say.

I know it’s said in jest but a lot of people listen to THP Radio.

I know, I really don’t have much on @Canadan so I took my cheap shot early.
Fun listen so far. I like the growth and industry talk. I don’t know if you got into it. But with all the captured swing data. I wonder what he thinks about the roll back.

I know it’s something I’d love to go deeper about with Nick…
Imagine the kind of swing data they have at their disposal.. It’s kind of crazy.

Do they bank it all? They could sell that data.. Or at min share with OEMs. That is real world results.

Could you imagine the OEMs R&D with data like that?

I think Callaway (and probably others) with AI can to some degree or even more replicate those swings. But I do think real world data from someone that is none denominational as I like to call it, is good.
When we were at the ECPC they had a robot that they were hitting shot after shot after shot for the whole time we were there. They had a different company’s driver set up. It may not matter, but I wont say which. So I think most likely “ALL” club designers are testing other companies products and hitting them to see what’s in the sausage. But, getting a million swings a month from all walks of life could be super valuable.
Ooo, really looking forward to this and congrats on 150!! Always nice when Friday rolls around.
Congratulations on #150 @Canadan !! This show has been a weekly staple for me for almost essentially the entire life of the show! Proud of you for how far it’s come man!
Congrats on 150 @Canadan you’re kind of a big deal
Wow had no idea CC had that many stores 😳
Nick creating burner after burner acct and getting kicked out of golf forums is hilarious!
Congrats on 150, @Canadan! Will tune in on my lunch!
So awesome to hear Nick say the Cobra irons are killing it this year.
Congrats on the 150! Will grab a listen:drinks:
Some of us have guns. ??
Always found it weirdly interesting, all the geographical factors that go into deciding where to put locations.
Also learned that @Canadan doesn’t play waterpolo. Got it.
Interesting to hear the Cobra irons feedback there
Great episode. Looking forward to hearing more about the Fathers of Fitting segment.
Love the mindset of “it costs this much, but I’ll get X number of years out of them, so it’s really Y dollars per year” because that’s exactly how I think about purchases. It’s allowed me to justify upgrades haha
Enjoyed the listen, and congrats on the 150th episode.

Interesting, but not surprising.
Nick nails the ball conversation.
Enjoyed listening to this today.
Most of the members in our Men’s group have never been fit for clubs and it is mind boggling to me why they don’t do it when they’ve witnessed firsthand the improved golf game of those that have.

For sure. Feedback seems really, really high. Cool to hear it’s what CC is seeing as well.
congrats on 1 fiddy, Canapodan!
@Canadan this was so good, love listening to Nick and his honesty. Congrats on 150 my friend!
Thanks for the great feedback and love guys! It’s been such a great ride so far.
The part talking about guys spending a ton on memberships and then having a 20 year old set was hilarious!! I’ve been to the bag storage room in the country club a couple times and the amount of clubs from before the 2000s is honestly astounding

Its always a lot of fun to me when I get to play these nice clubs to go peek at what is in the bags of the members when I can.
I enjoyed that one a lot. The insights into their fitting data would be fun to dig into. I also enjoyed his take on equipment spends with golf as your hobby.
I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Loved the insight into the training and fitting process.
Good listen. Congratulations on the milestone @Canadan
Enjoyed the show. Congrats on the 150th episode. Listening from people in the industry, who are shaping what clubs we play and how we experience it, is always interesting.
Really good point about how many people spend lots of time and money on private clubs but won’t spend a relatively small amount on decent clubs.

It’s crazy how many golfers do that eh? Blows my mind what their monthly statements look like, but won’t drop a dime on some decent clubs.

The odd thing is, some wear it like a badge of honor and act like it’s a waste of money to spend on new and better equipment.

….and then lose their mind when they are the shortest in their group or not getting any forgiveness.
So funny. And weird.
