Ping has sent the new Scottsdale TR Putters to members of THP for review. This thread will be for their long term reviews and thoughts, as well as any questions others may have.

The putters have started showing up to the THP members. Please keep it clear until the testers can update with their initial thoughts and reviews.

Good morning everyone! Here's my unboxing video.

Here is the write up review of unboxing and initial thoughts:

The Look:
-The putter head is a Mid-Mallet head shape which I'm used to. (similar to my NC Sub 30-Type 30 putter shape)
-It's in a Black matte finish so no glare from the sun. (Brilliant).
-It has a White Alignment line on top so it's really easy to line up my ball. (I mark my putting ball with a line).
-The face has a very clean look to it. No crazy designs or anything like that. It's just a white insert, covers majority of the face.
-The headcover is either leather or synthetic material. I can't really tell but it's Black and white with red stripe. Nothing too fancy. Just classic looking.
-OK! The Adjustment hossel (or Contraption as I called it). It's a ring shaped device with a small hole to fit the tool in. I initially thought that it would look bulky looking down at address but it's NOT noticeable at all.
The Adjustability:
-It comes with a T-shaped tool that goes directly into the hole. Turn it clockwise until you feel the resistance. By holding the grip, you can slide up and down to fit your length need. After you set at your length, just simply turn the tool counter clockwise and it will lock.
-This shaft will adjust from 31 to 38 inches. I've setup mine at 32 inches BUT because of the adjustability, I will most likely go up to 34 inches since my back hurts from time to time!
The Feel: (Only 20 minute session at the putting greens due to the sun going down. Longer sessions to come)
-It has a heavy feel to it from the head all the way to the butt of the grip but it does have good balance to it. I can still feel the head and have complete control. I feel that the speed control will be easier to manage compare to my putter because of the weight. I apologize, I don't have the specs just yet. I will keep you guys updated on that soon.
-The grip feels great! It's tacky enough so won't slip away and I can easily settle my hands on it. (almost molds perfectly)
The Performance:
-I hit about 25 balls with the Shea. I know that's not a lot but the sun went down on me!
-I hit 5 balls each from the Center, Toe and the Heel of the face. (I did my best to have the same tempo), and the results were JUST as I expected. They were all hit at the same distance, only being off by a couple of inches of every putts.
-The True Roll Insert definitely does a great job! From my short testing so far, I feel that I gained some confidence since I don't always have to be DEAD CENTER to get good results.
Final Thoughts:
So far so good! I am definitely liking the look, feel and the performance so far although I had a short session. My main problem with putting is Distance Control. So many times, I left my birdie/par putts short. So to make up for the shortness, I've hit putts harder than I should and often times my putts roll past the hole by 5 to 15 feet. I never had the consistency with distance and I STRONGLY feel that the Scottsdale TR putter will help me gain some confidence and better distance control.

Sorry about the long video. I thought it was going to be shorter but I recently found out that I'm a slow talker.

Great unboxing video, Wonton. Looking forward to hearing how it treats you on the course.

Thank you! I had a quick session yesterday before the sun went down. Couldn't tape it but I will be back out there this evening with my "iphone" so another video to come tomorrow!

The box destruction was funny Wonton.

Headcover looks good. Couldn't tell for sure, but is it made of a fabric?

That insert is really good looking to me, as is the head shape and neck that you went with.

Does the adjustment fitting seem to alter the balance or weight of the putter in hand?

Thanks Hawk! Trying to be a funny guy but it feels so un-natural! Hahaha
The headcover is leather I believe. It could be Pleather.
Yeah, I had about a 20 minute session yesterday at the greens and so far the "True Roll" really has the true roll. I purposely hit some on the heel and toe of the face and the distance was very similar with the ones hit in the center.
As far as the weight goes, when I first saw the adjustment hossel, I thought it would throw off the weight a little bit or even add weight dramatically, But surprisingly it had good balance. With my current putter, I can really feel the head, which I love. The Shea feels like it has heavier weight to it the head to the butt of the grip. Too early to tell though... I will get a better feel of it tonight.

Excellent. I was really hoping it was at least imitation leather. That's sharp looking stick! Good luck with it.

Good info so far Wonton. Looking forward to keeping up with your thoughts on this one

Videos are great, but remember that a lot of people are unable to watch videos from their computers due to being at work, etc.

Yeah, I thought about that. Sorry folks. I will write a full review soon.

Nice video Wonton! Very editing there sir. Can't wait to hear what you think of it!

Let me also add that having now finished watching the video, your commentary has me cracking up.. The naming comments, the text edit of actually needing the shaft tool...

great stuff.. I wouldn't mind seeing some photos as well though. Also, video in LANDSCAPE next time!!! hah!

Haha thanks. I am writing a review right now. However I didn't take any pictures (I will tonight for sure) Video editing took me almost 4 hours.
And yes! hahaha Landscape is the way to go! I will do it in that format next time.

Write-up review updated with the video!

Good work Wonton. Covered all the bases there.

Agreed, I know it may seem like overkill, but video, pics and commentary is a great combination that hopefully hits everyone!

The next review, I will make sure to combine video, pictures and written reviews together!
I think I just got excited too much and concentrated not to sound like a big idiot on my video, I forgot to do the pics and words.

No worries at all. It's an excellent review. I can't wait to here how it performs for you. The adjustability is awesome!
