The rating and slope of my 20 most recent rounds from GHIN. 72.9/136 is my home course from the blue tees. 71.2/130 is the same course from the white tees. I think I need to find some easier places to play and stop punishing myself.

The 2 courses I play the most:

70.8/122
70.9/128

so not quite as difficult as yours and I think they are plenty challenging for me

Just like mine. Not too difficult not too easy

The course I play most frequently is 71.7/131 from the blues. Yesterday's course was 72.0/129. Not easy tracks, but not as hard as yours - man, that's a killer.

71.7/131 is pretty tough.

Do you find that when you play a course in the 69/120 range that you score better?

im usually in the 128-130 range myself

should be less

71.2/129
72.4/131
69.7/132

Those would be the toughest I play on the regular, all from the whites.

Well, on a 65.3/133 from the whites, I shot 81. Yesterday on the 72.0/129 from the blues, I shot 93.

The difference? Approaches and trouble. On the easy course/forward tees, I was rarely hitting more than an 8-iron into the green. On the hard course yesterday I rarely had less than a 6 iron, and quite a few were 4-iron or 5-wood. On the easy course if I could avoid the trouble by aiming for the side of the green with no trouble and the greens were not elevated. Yesterday, all the greens were elevated and there were not many useful places to miss the green that wouldn't be trouble.

I play a variety. My club last year was rated pretty high until the last phase of its redesign when it got dropped a bit. Makes it hard to play 'easier' courses because you have to score better to maintain your index.

Honestly, I got tired of it. Challenging is fun, but there are days that I wanted to get out of dodge and spray it around.

The course closets to my house, less than a mile is 108. I can get into the 70's. Average score there is 85.

My favorite course is George Dunne in Oak Forest, IL 3 miles from my house. Slope there: 138 I am lucky to break 90. Lot's of draws over water from the tees. When my ball is drawing, I do well.

The courses I play most are fairly easy, 122 slope or less, when I step up to even a 124 or higher they clean my clock.

My home track is 70.3/126 from the blue, which is what I normally play

Move up if you want. Nothing says you have to play a certain set of tees.

What is the 74.6/141??? Now THAT is brutal!

no courses are easy for me.. specially when I am not hitting well that day

The course I play has 27 holes so I have 3 different options. Heritage/Homestead is the most common one though

Heritage / Homestead
COPPER - 124/70.7
Homestead / Harvest
COPPER - 129/70.8
Heritage / Harvest
COPPER - 130/71.5

My main course is 75.2/138 from the tips. I play the whites most of the time, which are 69.8/123 and much more realistic for me

My home course isn't too difficult 73.1/ 137 from the tips and 71.4/128 from the Blues

73.5/137 par 71 is my home course

The whites are as far up as you can go unless you want to play the red tees.

I play the course fairly well from the blues so there's no need to move up. The downside is that a lot of people come out there and play from the blue tees when they really shouldn't be and play can slow down because of it..

71.0 and 129 usually

My home course is 70.8/128 from the the middle tees which I play from. Kind of right in the middle which I think is perfect for my level. Also, I don't play that many tougher courses because it seems that around me all the tougher courses are way out of my price range.

I feel like my two home courses are pretty tough. I play either gold or blue, and over the last year more blue than gold. The blacks are just too much for me, only played them once.

Lake Course
White 67.0/120 5,452 yards
Blue 69.3/128 6,159 yards
Gold 71.0/133 6,486 yards
Black 72.4/137 6,8236 yards

Mountain Course
White 67.2/123 5,400 yards
Blue 70.4/133 6,045 yards
Gold 72.2/139 6,546 yards
Black 74.2/142 7,036 yards

My home course is 71.3/132 6700 yards from the blue tees and 73.6/138 7100 from the "Palmer Gold's". I have never played the Golds and in the heart of winter will usually play the white tees as roll-out is just a rumor in that mud fest.
I don't find it overly difficult until the greens reach asphalt status in the heat of the summer and putting becomes an exercise in patience. I find many courses that are rated easier to actually be much harder due to forced layups off the tees - which I hate.
