Lake Charles - 2014 THP Invitational #2 Sponsored By Bridgestone Golf

Got in another practice round myself today at Eagle Pointe over here, closest thing I have to a home course. Warmed up horrible, very inconsistent, get to #1 stripe the fairway then proceed to put my second right in the ditch for a nice 7 to start the day, felt tight, felt like I might have played too much this week if that's possible. Struggled thru 7, was +8 thru 7, hit a solid tee shot on the par 3 8th and birdied 9 so shot 43 front with 2 doubles off water balls, then turned the back in 40 with one double where as usual took me 2 to even get out of the sand. 7 fairways, 10 greens and 34 putts. Ugh.

I can't wait to see who I'm paired with. I need to break them in for disappointment early so they're not surprised by it on Saturday.

Okay, we're officially in the "week of" the THP/Bridgestone Lake Charles Invitational. Soon we'll know teams, and things will begin to get real. My excitement is starting to build, but so is my angst. I am totally unsure of what irons to bring. It seems I cannot put two back to back decent rounds together with any set. I thought I had it figured out Thursday, but, then had a crappy round on Saturday in our opening day tournament. Good luck to whomever I get paired with. I'm a Jeckyll and Hyde at the moment. Let's hope Dr. Jeckyll shows up and not the evil Mr. Hyde. See you soon, bros.

i am totally in touch with that feeling, one day 77 the next 91. It's all short game too, if I hit greens I'm good, if I have to chip or god forbid get in a sand trap I'm screwed

I'm looking forward to more grass, sun, warm weather and golf. And punching my ticket to the Bear Trap! 5 more days....

I am sooo not ready for this, but can't wait all at the same time!

Played today, 40 degrees and 20 mph winds most of the morning. Banana balls where a plenty. Couldn't force myself to club up like your supposed to do..... I will next Sat lol I hope.

Going to play as many holes as I can on Tuesday after work. The last time I'll play before LC. I will be playing along side my teaching pro & going to get as much information as I can.

Cant wait to find out pairings and format...going to be a great week

Thought it was supposed to rain today so I withdrew fromHAGA for today so of course no rain, though it is cool and windy but my body I think needed a day to rest. Have my lesson Tuesday and Thursday so those will be range days I may play Wednesday to get in one final round. So looking forward to seeing meeting and playing with you all.

Had a lesson today hopefully I got rid off the hooks of my hybrids, hoping to get 9 holes in on Thursday.

Deano, where did you pick to eat Sat night?
Any dinner plans set for Fri night?

You guys will be heading to the casino buffet Saturday night.

Nothing officially for Friday night buy just like hilton head if some folks want to get together Friday night by all means, and this thread can be used to set that up as we did for Hilton head.

I can't wait to follow this and see who paves their way to the Bear trap! Good luck folks, play well!

Marc, I'm looking for a little "fill a spot" magic!

I look to be joining you at PGA National!

After everyone golfs on Friday we can go out somewhere.

Any suggestions from the locals?

i dont one know how much everyone is on gambling but I will say this at L'Auberge don't count on finding a blackjack table for less than $25 a hand, I think Isle of Capri still runs some $5 tables but been a while since I've been. There's a Buffalo Wild Wings right next to the course for those who may want to go watch basketball after Friday, eat wings and drink beer. The other restaurants at L'Auberge are good too but casino pricey.

I take it the craps table is priced similarly?

I'm down for whatever the group wants to do.

never learned craps so couldn't tell you, did hit slots for a couple hundred over there last month

beer, wings, basketball and friends. Need I say more?

Put in some more work today to get ready for this weekend! Thursday can't come soon enough!

Good job. You guys are out for blood. I haven't been able to hit for three weeks (think it's carpal tunnel in both hands). But will practice tomorrow. I have never played in any sort of tournament, so a bit nervous but very amped.

i have to say, the people here on THP are all, one hundred percent, nice people. I feel like I have won already.

anyone know when we found out about partners?

What are you in the mood for? I'd suggest something local.

Darrell's is one of two places I have to eat when I'm in town (the other is a drive thru BBQ/crawfish place). It has the best Po-Boys in town & several TVs if you want to watch the game. It can get loud & crowded on a Friday night.

Steam Boat Bill's is classic Cajun and would be more quiet than Darrel's, but not sure if they have TVs for watching the game.

Or we could try the Jack Daniel's Bar & Grill @ L'Auberge. It can get loud & crowded too.
