Lake Charles - 2014 THP Invitational #2 Sponsored By Bridgestone Golf

Despite the long list of things I want to comment on, this.. This this this this this this this.

If you're at a THP event and are either 1 - trying too hard, or 2 - not having fun, you're doing it wrong.

Don't just play golf, live it.
Don't just attend a THP event, ENJOY IT!

A-men Dan. I played bad Saturday and decent today, and guess what I had a blast both days :)

Here is a good thought. Three, Two Time THP champs.

So, finally caught up and sounds like another amazing THP event (not shocked).

Congrats to the winners and congrats to JB, Morgan, and the rest of the team involved in organizing another unforgettable event for those who attended.

Great time keeping watch on you this weekend.

I have a lot of thoughts to put together on this one!

As I still have a little over an hour until I get home, and an early wake up looming, probably tomorrow night!

Home safely! Will read through everything tomorrow and I also owe a recap.

Absolutely fantastic weekend with awesome THP'ers, fun courses, and some really really good golf was played (didn't say it was from me).

Thanks to all who attended, you guys kick ass and know how to have a great time!

Finally settled in after making a few pits stops on my way home. As always, I had an absolutely fantastic weekend at a THP event, but this one will be especially memorable due to the victory. It will take a while to get used to seeing the new icon by my name. Friday I was fortunate enough to be able to be paired up with my partner Capt. Dru (absolutely no strategy was discussed), MWard, and Barberakb. Lets just say that we discovered that an ass can chip a tooth and vice versa. Long story. Also, Aaron is a solid, solid golfer. He plays the most boring game I've ever seen (straight drives and greens), but he was a par machine. I threw up an awesome 89, but I figured it was a good sign that I struggled off of the tee. I can never seem to drive the ball well 2 days in a row which was also evident in my Sunday round also. It seemed like the course tore up everyone pretty well on Friday. We had an awesome dinner afterwards at BWW with good food and great company. The rain Friday night unfortunately made the round on Saturday cart path only, but it wasn't too bad. Ward, I hope you got your foot "laceration" taken care of by trained medical professionals. Flip flops, rain, and running do not mix well, at all.

Saturday morning rolled around and Dru and I were ready to go. Had a light warm up on the range and Dru had a light warm up of Bloody Marys. We kept close monitor of the "Dru Bell Curve" and that was the main key to our success. We complimented each other well as he kept it in play off of the tee and drained everything that he looked at inside of 10 feet. He really pulled some shots out when we really needed them. TBD and Vegan were keeping pace with us the whole way and I think that it was a great advantage having them playing along side of us since they gave us something to shoot at. The round Saturday was competitive, but it was also easygoing and relaxing. I did hit my best tee shot of the weekend on the first hole on Saturday which was huge for me. Another embarrassment off of the tee similar to Friday would have been a bad sign for me for the whole round on Saturday.

The buffet after the round was fantastic and there was great conversation with company all around. I think I ate enough shellfish to last me for a good six months. Tim, Alex, and I also hit up the casino Saturday night to celebrate. We had a good time and definitely got our money's worth. It is always great to sit at a good table when the cards are not falling your way. I was able to golf with Shakey, Easy8, and BryanMac on Sunday and it was another awful round overall for me. I threw up a nice 47-38, but still had a blast, as expected. I lost a bit of money to Chris on our friendly bets, but he and Bryan played a hell of a round. I really enjoyed both courses and loved both of the layouts. I will definitely check them out next time I'm in Lake Charles.

It was great to see some familiar faces and meet several new people as well. It really is amazing to know that EVERY person that you meet at a THP event is just a down-to-earth person and is very easy to talk to. I just wanted to extend my gratitude to Josh, Morgan, and Mike Dean for setting up a phenomenal event. I am also thrilled to have an actual reason to practice effectively, which is something that I have not had in a long time. There is no doubt that I will be ready for the Championship, but there is still a long way to go. I will see yall at the Bear Trap!

Tag next to your name looks good Jank.

Awesome recap jank and congrats again

Chips or no chips, it was a lot of fun playing with you. I dont think any of us played at our best, but what a great time and in the end, thats what its about.

I agree. Hopefully we'll get a chance to play again soon. I need to redeem myself. I need to start going to more events. They are way too much fun to only do one a year.

Congrats Jank! And dru as well!

Just got home! Time to relax and rest for work tomorrow. I will post an official recap tomorrow. I just want to apologize if I didnt hang out as much with the THP bunch. I was trying to balance spending my time with you guys and my dad.

TX/LA group and pretty much anyone who wants to play, when they open the golden nugget and new course we should scope it out. Just looking for an excuse to golf.

This is another "Wardism".

I only flip flopped it when repeating the quote. I think I actually made it better. At least I made it more memorable?

Me too... couldn't agree more!!!

It was hilarious! Had a great time with you, Aaron and Jank. Laughs through out the whole round!

I will keep a eye on the course, and when it opens, it will be an automatic invite for all to come and play the new course.

Guys, i had a great time . Thanks for comin down to LA. To play some golf. Let me say , if anyone is down in this area, give me a shout and we can play some golf. Enjoyed meeting everyone and hope to make another event soon.

This might run long, but please be patient. So much awesomeness this weekend & I want to make sure I don't leave anything out. I'm going to apologize in advance if I leave anyone out, but I tried to interact with as many of you as I could. As I type this I hope everyone gets back home safe and sound.

First off thank you to JB, Morgan, Mike Dean & MWard for running a flawless weekend. My first THP Invitational and I'm walking away with so many memories and kicking myself
for not signing up for the other three. I'm leaving this Invitational a better person just by experiencing the comradery that only THP can provide. I can't thank you enough for putting on events that forges friendships and creates new ones from complete strangers.

To my teammate and now friend Ken (v.man) It was a pleasure being your partner. We gave it a run and if only we could have dropped a few putts I think we would be right in the thick of it. Your constant fairway finding tee shots freed me up & I unleashed 3 of my personal best off the tee. Oh yeah, thanks for pulling that approach on 18 and making me have to get up and down out of the greenside bunker with about 20 THP'ers watching. Like a BOSS I executed, but not gonna lie that was the most nervous I have ever felt over a shot in a long time. (including first tee shots at THP events).
I hope you get that ticket into PGA National & you can bet I will be trying hard come sign ups. Also let me know how that "Junior Old Coot" membership vote turns out!

My roommate Clay (grizbear) Thank you for your 22 years of service to our country. You are a class individual and I am truly a better person for spending the time I did with you this weekend. Glad you had fun at your first THP event despite what you had to deal with on saturday, but that just shows the class individual you are. If I can ever be of help with anything, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Jank & Capt. Dru- Congrats on a round well played. Liquid courage combined with a guy that seems to have a steady pulse equaled victory. Truly happy Texas represented and has the next two HOF'ers.

Bigtazz53- Man you crack me up. Talk about playing your slice off the tee! If you can straighten out that drive you are deadly my friend. Love the loudmouth pants and thoroughly enjoyed our round together. Thanks for the Tm Speedblade & I will definitely pay it forward.

Nomadic_duffer- Dude get that back better. Sorry you couldn't play on Saturday and glad you got to play a little on Friday. I hope you get well soon

afwcardinal & Kpop - Our Saturday round together was fun, Eddie can really get after that tee shot. You look at him and would even think it, but he can move it out there a long way. Kpop solid game all around. If you guys had the wedges acting right you would have been right there.

#Cookie - My brother from another mother. We picked up right where we left off after the Adams event. It was great seeing you again and enjoyed catching up. The buffet was awesome and getting that front row seat to MWard and the vines was epic. Sucks I couldn't tee it up for the Sunday round, but we will cross paths again.

MWard- "Little tiger". From the "stinger" chip shot on the practice green, to the classic buffet dinner, there is never a dull moment with you around. I even #warded in line at the buffet in your honor. You took your fair share of ribbing all weekend and handled it like a champ. If you ever want to know how to win at the penny slots, just ask.

O'Carroll- Pete I cant say enough good things about you. From the first time we shook hands on the practice green Friday I knew you were solid.Enjoyed talking and getting to know you more. I did throw my name on the Ocean City waiting list, but it's a long shot. Who knows I may have to make a trip to upstate NY. Bethpage anyone???

Shakey- Thanks for the hospitality and helping us navigate the metropolis of Lake Charles. Good call on Darrell's & let's try to play soon. I don't mind driving to have fun with THP brothers.

Bryanmac520 - AKA "point, click and shoot" if you like long off the tee & iron shots into the green, then this is your guy! Thanks for all the course tips on Friday they all came into play on Saturday & helped me out. We need to get a crawfish boil going soon and get all the local LC & Houston guys together for some golf & bugs!!.

sposey013168 - Shane it was great seeing you again. I love how you approach life and don't sweat the small stuff. Wish we would have hung out more, but based on the Adams event and this one I know the next time we see each other we will pick up right where we left off & not skip a beat

threeboysdad- Phil I thought you and vegan were going to run away with this, but glad you didn't because the thought of your head getting any bigger with a 3time HOF tag next to your name would be unbearable. :alien: I kid of course and good to see you again. Hopefully we can tee it up together so that HOF magic can rub off on me.

vegan702 - I only got to chat with you a few times, but good lord talk about "Joe Cool". I know a thing or two about swagger and you got it in spades brother. From the cigar smoking to the unassuming attitude you are one cool cat. The best part is you don't even know it or maybe you do and you are just that cool to ignore it :act-up: next time I'm in Vegas I'll look you up so I can witness the coolness first hand.

JeffReedMO/Jskittle - Two guys I wish I would have been able to chat more with. The few times we did interact I came away impressed & can't wait to keep up the friendship. Oh yeah Jeff, I owe you some cigarettes!

OITW - Carmela So....I mean Alex, Dude you rock that blue Puma outfit Saturday like a BOSS!!! We didn't know if you were part of the event or an extra for the Sopranos that was lost. Another guy I need to get to know more and hope to get up to Boston and tee it up.

TBT & JFlores - Good seeing you guys again and the Houston crew is getting stronger. We may be few, but we can bring with the best of them and make any THP event that much better. The next time we get together cant come soon enough.

I've intentionally saved the best for last. This guy is far and away one of the best guys that anyone will ever be lucky enough to come across on THP & in life. CJ, Michigan Slice..AKA "The Driving Machine". You are hands down one of my favorite THP'ers I have ever met. From the moment we said hi on Friday I knew I was coming away from this weekend better off for meeting you. You have this presence about you that instantly has guys gravitating towards you. That speaks volumes to the type of person you are. From all the driving you do to get to THP events, to the one liners and the classic stone cold delivery, CJ you are pure class brother & embody ALL that THP stands for, Don't Just Play Golf, Live It! I hope you make it home safe and next time I won't forget the air mattress.

Catching up on the recaps and I can't stop laughing! Hearing stories from the casino are great. Congrats Jank and Dru.
