I've heard the term "metal wood" used before, but I to me it's Driver, Woods, Hybrids, Irons.

If someone called a wood a metal I'm not going to say "oh you mean a wood" because whatevs, but I do think calling it a metal sounds weird.

I like retaining the term 'wood' to refer to a fw's. I can go either way, but it just seems the least confusing to call my club a 3 wood instead of a 3 metal.

I call them woods. Hearing “metals” always sounds weird to me.

Woods. Plus, most golf courses have plenty of woods lining the fairways...not metals. :)

I just can't refer to them as "metals". However, I still call my Ping Eye 2 BeCu clubs "irons" so I guess I lack some consistency based on what they are made of.

Glad to see “woods” with an overwhelming lead in the poll.

The term '3 wood' just flows out easily when spoken, the term '3 metal' takes so much more thought and energy to say.

If referencing the category, I tend to call them fairway metals, but if discussing a particular club, it's usually a "wood". Yeah, I don't get it, either.

Woods....always have....always will.

Fairway metals is such a Johnny Miller thing and I can't stand it
