Simple question, requiring a simple answer?

We had a split decision in my house. I said yes because it has two pieces of bread with meat in the middle. My wife said no it is a hamburger. Since it is my account I voted yes.

It's not , but i can't tell you why it's not.

Is a burger a burger when the use brioche or pretzel bread?

Is a sandwich a sandwich when they use something not sliced?

I think the definition comes from what is in-between the bread, but then we have the patty melt which throws more confusion in

No, a. Burger is a burger.

Yes.

Yes. It has something between bread.

A burger is a sandwich. But it has evolved into its own category of food there for not included in the sandwich category anymore.

If it's got ground meat as it's showpiece it's not a sandwich---burger.

No, it’s a burger. A hamburger is not the same thing as a ham sandwich.

I think given the evolution of the use of the word 'sandwich', it sure is.
Considering you can be:
- sandwiched between people on the subway,
- handed a '___ sandwich' at work in the form of feedback, etc.

They all imply things being contained between two pieces of the same material / make-up.

Only in America.

Everywhere else it's a burger.
