Las Vegas or Scottsdale - 2014 THP Bridgestone Championship

Wouldn't take too much stock in today's prices they will fluctuate so much between now and the time of the event favorable for both vegas and scottsdale I'm guessing

I have to give the nod to Scottsdale on this one.

Golf wise Vegas and Scottsdale are pretty similar in terms of offering nice courses. I gave the edge to Scottsdale on this one because there are more courses in a closer area as well as more courses that wont break the bank if you want to play before or after the event. I have played most of the courses around here and if the guys in Vegas liked TPC there are some courses out here you would love.

Outside of golf was where I personally thought Scottsdale really separated from Vegas. I found that in Vegas you really were limited to the strip (not exactly small though) but in Scottsdale you really can find something for everyone. Shopping in Old Town or at the Fashion Square, the bars in Old Town, casinos, some great food places, and a lot more depending on what you like.

...and you can take us to that driving range with the beautiful mountain scenery in the background.

Spoiler

Us airways and SWA have hubs in PHX FYI so plenty of nonstops as we'll.

Haha that is all of them

I like the idea of Scottsdale just to keep with the newness theme, I have been to Vegas a bunch of times and I like checking out new places.

Vote for scottsdale myself. Never played there..

Don't know that I'll be able to make it either way. Although I really like the newness idea of everything next year, I really like the idea of a designated championship location. I feel like it would add to the luster of the event, although I don't think that would really be an issue anywhere.

Lots of good courses and restaurants in Scottsdale. A big PGA Superstore is there and a lot of nice shopping opportunities. DBacks (Chase Field) not far away. Beautiful sunsets, very little rain and not blazing hot in September. Freeway system provides good access, but area does have big city traffic.

The likelihood of me being able to make it to either is extremely low. I can say that as a destination, I probably prefer Scottsdale, since I'm not into gambling and glitz at all. Flights into Phoenix should theoretically be just as easy also. If I were back in Salt Lake City next year, then Vegas would be easier since I can drive there. But since I don't know that, I'm gonna have to vote for Scottsdale.

Vegas wins hands down. Scottsdale would make a good venue for a future event but so would Denver. Right after the final round in Vegas I sat next to you and said that this should be done every year. And it would sell out every year.
Yearly THP Championship in Vegas booyah baby!

And I meant it.
The THP Bridgestone CHampionship should be done every year.

I would put my vote on Scottsdale. I've played a few courses there that were great and they have some amazing places to eat and the night life is very good! The bars in Old Town are great and there is less chances of me loosing lots of extra money...aka no tables or machines. Though both places are fine, Scottsdale just works better IMO.

There ARE plenty of Indian casinos in the area for anyone that might miss the Las Vegas gambling experience.

Scottsdale would be cool, but have to vote Vegas… way easier to find flights in and out of for everybody. Plus…. it's Vegas...

I would have never suspected that Scottsdale would get so many votes.

Am I wrong to think that Scottsdale could still be really hot in September?

I could do either but if nightlife factors in there is no comparison.

It will still be hot (100-105) but not 115-120 like July/August. Humidity is not a factor.

I love Scottsdale and Vegas, but I think Vegas has more of the fun and excitement of what the Bridgestone Championship should be....Weather is still pretty hot in Scottsdale in September (100 ave) where Vegas is a tad...and I emphasize tad cooler with 91 average.

<skimmed>

What's the average airfare into both?

Varies by location
Some have it more for scottsdale...Some more for vegas

Have you checked the flights from your area? You have Frontier to there which can be quite cheap. From many areas when I looked it up this morning, it was cheaper to fly to Phoenix.

I haven't yet, but there's a standing deal out of Grand Junction that used to be $100 round trip. I'll look into it but Ive had quite a few friends take that deal for quick weekend trips to Vegas

Either one would be amazing no doubt. I would vote Scottsdale I think, in keeping things new for the new year. I'm stoked to have an event at least that far west. Hopefully I can make it.

Flights are exactly the same price for me to both spots.

Yeah, whatever that deal was, it no longer exists.

Yeah, if I had looked first before asking the question, I'd have found there is a 9 dollar difference (random September weekend) for me. And it ain't real cheap.

Give me 36 hours and I can make either!
Both very solid choices!
