I just hit whatever club War tells me to.

It's always good to know your carry distances on your clubs. I'd just be guessing, but I'd like to get on a Trackman (or similar) one day and really figure these numbers out in ideal hits/conditions.

After playing my first three rounds of the year in 40-50 degree weather in mountains just of western North Carolina, I have no idea how far I hit my clubs. Fairways were soft, a couple of my best struck drives were in the 230-240 range with very little roll. I didn't hit a single good 5w or 4h. The 7w I hit on the 16th hole of the 3rd round was 183 to the pin. Hit one of my best shots of the week and flew past the hole nearly 10 yards and it checked a foot from the mark.

Another really good shot was 162 yards to a middle pin par 3 that was downhill 20-30 feet (?). I flew that pin by 20 feet or so as well with an 8 iron. The wind was a little right to left and helping some and the ball hopped back a couple feet but hung on the back fringe. If that ball had been just a couple feet on the green it likely rolls back to the cup and would have been very interesting.

He's really good at that, I do the same with my boy Deano (just hit the effing 3i James!)

"3wood gets you there easy."

"Good layup"

Lmao.

It took me a few holes, but I had your distance pegged. Too bad it took you 13 holes to freaking listen to me.

Interesting I hit my 9i just as far as most but off the tee I'm 50 yards shorter

60*- 75 yards
56*- 100 yards
52*- 125 yards
P- 135
9- 150
8- 160
7- 175
6- 185
5- 200
4- 215
3h- 230
5 wood- 245
Driver- 270

I don't really know with my new clubs as of yet, and I played 2 different iron sets last year but here it goes

Club (Loft) Average (Carry) Total
Driver (9°) 250-260. 270
4-wood (16.5°) 225-235. 240

Irons
1-iron (17°) 225. 235
2-iron (19°) 210-215. 225
3-iron (21°) 200-208. 215
4-iron (24°) 195-200. 203
5-iron (28°) 182-186. 190
6-iron (32°) 168-173. 177
7-iron (36°) 156-162. 164
8-iron (40°) 145-150. 151
9-iron(44.5°) 133-136. 137
P. Wedge (49°) 120-124. 124
G. Wedge (52°) 100-106. 106
S. Wedge (58°) I never hit full swing Sand wedges...

Note: Anything with at least 56° of loft, and 10° of bounce I consider a sand wedge... by definition a lob wedge has less than 10° bounce... so if your "lob" wedge has more than 10° bounce it's a 60° sand wedge

My Average Distances with full swings are as follows:

Driver (carry) 180-200 (roll out) 200-220
21° Hybrid (carry) 165-170
4 Iron "out from under the tree" club
5 Iron (carry) 150-155
6 Iron (carry) 140-145
7 Iron (carry) 130-135
8 Iron (carry) 120-125
9 Iron (carry) 110-115
PW (carry) 100-110
AW (carry) 80-ish
LW Only used on real short shots, maybe a green side sand trap. It is a cursed club.
56° It's most often my 65 yard to about 30 yard club.

Handicap is probably around a 30, give or take.

Went to the sim/launch monitor last week and hit about 20 balls with each club... loft in parentheses

Driver (10.5°) 260-270 (Sims can be inaccurate though)
3-wood(15°) 240-250
3 hybrid (19°) 215-225
4 iron (23°) 200
5 iron (26°) 187
6 iron (29°) 176
7 iron (33°) 164
8 iron (37°) 152
9 iron (41°) 141
PW (45°) 130
GW (52°) 112

I don't hit my 56 or 60 full so I don't really want to know, I hit a 3/4 swing 56 95 yards and 60 about 75...

Driver: 260-295
3 Wood: 230-245
3 iron: 210-220
4 iron: 200-210
5 iron: 185-195
6 iron: 175-180
7 iron: 160-165
8 iron: 145-150
9 iron: 135-140
PW: 120-130
50* GW: 100-120
56* SW: 70-100
60* LW: 50-90

I spend a incredible amount of time working on distance and ball flight control. These are numbers that are directly attached to swings such as 135 yards is a 9 iron 3/4 swing 3/4 follow thru with a lower ball flight that lands 133 with 2 yard roll out or 195 yards is a 5 iron full swing, full follow thru lands 190 with maybe 5 yards roll out.

I've been known to hit a sandwedge between 30 yards and 200 yards, it depends on how fat I catch it or how much I bone it in the forehead :D

Driver: 270-280. 3 wood: 240-250. Hybrid 18*: 220-230. 4 iron: 215-220. 5 iron: 195-205. 6 iron: 185-195. 7 iron: 175-185. 8 iron: 165-175 9 iron: 155-165. Pw: 145-155. 54* 125-135. 58*. 110-120

Here's an estimate from the end of 2014. This is completely subject to change after the few months off for snowfall and hamstring recovery:

Driver: 240-260

15* 3W: 220-240
18* 3H: 200
4i: 170-180
5i: 160-170
6i: 150-160
7i: 140-150
8i: 130-140
9i: 120-130
PW: 110-120
50* GW: 100
56* SW: 85
60* LW: 60

Driver: 10-250
3 Wood: So erratic it stays in the bag
19* Hybrid: Worse than the 3 wood.
5 Iron: 150-180
6 Iron: 150-170
7 Iron: 135-155
8 Iron: 120-130
9 Iron: 100-115
P Wedge: 85-110
A Wedge: 80-100
S Wedge: 70-90
Putter: Either a foot shorter or 15 feet longer than I want.

Driver 260
3W 235-240
5W 225-230
3H 215-220(I sub this out with the 5W_
4I 205
5I 180-190
6I 175
7I 165
8I 150
9I 130
PW 120-125
50* 110
54* 100
60* 85-90

Those are stock numbers in regular conditions. I have some gapping issues specifically around 155 or so. For some reason I can hit my 7 iron damn near close to my 6 but I can't hit my 8 for crap.

Carry Distances

60 degree don't hit full shots with it.
52 degree 100
AW 115
PW 125
9i 135
8i 150
7i 160
6i 170
5i 180
4i 190
2h 205
3w 80 or 220
D 235

I think this is a good exercise. If your honest about the numbers it's good to see how your gaping is and what clubs you might need or provide no real value.

I have a 4w coming this week to hopefully replace my 2h and 3w. At 200+ distances I'm not too concerned with proper gaping just something I can hit consistently. If the 4w works out, I will carry 56 degree wedge again.

Also have an XR coming and an SLDR 430 to try out. I'm sure both should add a few yards to my driver.

I will definitely have to pay attention to this when all the snow melts, but last year this was close to where my yardages were. I definitely need to work on hitting the 3wood and hybrids better because those yardages seem to fluctuate where the iron yardages have been close for years

Driver 250ish
3wood 220-230
3H 210ish
5H 200
5I 185 ?
6I 160
7I 150
8I 125-140ish
9I 115
PW 105
52* 85-100
56* 60-85
62* 50

I have been working on really nailing down my carry distances with my clubs and thought I would revive this one.

LW:60 and below, I dont like to hit full shots with this
SW:85
GW:100
PW:115-120
9i: 125-130
8i: 140
7i: 150
6i:160
5i:170
4i:180
3h:195
3w: 215 off a tee 205 off the turf
Dr: 230-240

I have been working only hitting targets at the range and keeping track of where the ball lands. Knowing my carry distance has really helped making club selection a lot easier in my past few rounds.

Mine have always pretty darn similar to yours, AS. However, I had a lesson a couple weeks back where I picked up some yards through a better address position and smoother takeaway (= better contact) so I need to do a little more practice and observation to see if they've changed at all. I went from getting about a 150 yard stock 7i (slight cut) at the beginning of the lesson to nearly 160 with that same slight cut but with a more piercing trajectory. The reality is probably somewhere in the middle, but we'll see.

I feel like I am loosing about half a club right now for some reason. Nothing serious and I am actually making great contact right now. I have really worked on my swing path and have slowed it down a touch to make sure I am putting myself in right position, so I may just need to step on it a little and stop playing nice with it haha.
