The Official THP Teaser Thread

Ill be honest and say that these were set up based on the amazing feedback and support of the thread "West Coast Event Coming?". Id be lying if I said I wasnt second guessing myself a little bit based on #TheKing so far, but at this point, changing is not an option.

I hate it for you. The event looks spectacular and for the price, it's hard to beat. If the baby was not due the same month, I would be all over it.

So the other day my buddy and I were cleaning out a warehouse and we came across over 100 original iPad covers. He told me to keep them and sell them if I wanted.

I hurried and jumped online to see what exactly I'd found and what to sell them for. My wife asked what I was going to do with the money if they sold. I knew she wanted me to say pay down debt so I told her I'd pay down my debt with it. She laughed and asked why I'd do that!

Her exact words were, "Isn't there another THP love event where couples go together?" I told her sure was but I haven't followed it a ton to know anything since THP events weren't on my radar with over 500k in dental school coming debt coming up...

She said if her school doesn't interfere and I sell all the iPad covers, she's down. If LIITA is the other west coast event then that's my chance.

Now here's to hoping people still have the original iPad...

Pretty sure LIITA is in Orlando.

I think the main factor in all of that is cost for alot of people.

If you have a family... you probably take a family vacation. So, adding in a $1000 weekend golf trip probably makes it a no-go for several people.

Absolutely I am sure and 100% understand. The issue I run into is that we base them off demand. The demand during the "where should we go time" was off the charts for the west coast based on posts.

Pretty sure LIITA is in Orlando.

You are correct, here are the LIITA details.

It isn't for couples but The King looks pretty darn nice.

It may the be the last thing I ever do if I take a vacation without my wife...

I know the feeling. If it's still open in April and I can swing it with the tax return I might just try and bribe my wife. We both take $800 or so out of the return to use how we want. Sounds fair to me, but I don't think like my wife, so...

Here are the details of that event. Odds are, it is filled well before that as it is one of the most sought after in the past and this year having a legendary R&D specialist will only amp things up.

Sorry, I was talking about The King (and leaving my wife at home)...

Gotcha. King contests are going on now with the 2nd one currently live. The teams will be filled by the end of February so that people have time to book travel affordably.

The Official THP Teaser Thread

I'd gladly sign up for all three right now if I could. I'm all over trying for #TheKing right now, and I know the #Grandaddy will be really tough to get in. Wherever this third one is, I'm certain I'll want to be a part of it as well. I know others may not be able, due to time, work, schedule or finances and that's understandable. I'm fortunate in that regard, and as long as my health holds out, I'll be there pitching my entries.

Ken. I had a post all typed that pretty much said the same thing...if you promise me a spot now I'll commit. Then I deleted it as I didn't want it to come off the wrong way. I truly was meaning I'll support and attend any event I can plan a bit for.

So I'll tag team on your post, it is much stated much better.

You really coerced me into getting into #TheKing, shame on you. Honestly I don't know why everyone within driving distance is not applying for this event. Maybe, people think their game isn't good enough, I don't know.

I was discussing #TheKing with my wife last night she was obviously very happy that I got in, but admited that when we talked previously, she thought it was a long shot so she wasn't worried about me leaving her with a 3 month old baby for 3-4 days. She knows it is important to me and we've got grandma scheduled to come that weekend if she thinks she needs help.

I apologize for my rant. Nobody should feel forced or coerced to enter anything. THP Events like these are not inexpensive and people should go and spend what they want to. Live and learn is what I take out of it and will continue to evolve and make changes to make sure that each event is the best it can possibly be.

are you shug knight?

Has he murdered you yet?

If not, then no -- Fup is not Suge Knight.

#TheMoreYouKnow

(Also -- pretty excited by the prospect of more events)

Ha ha. I told my fiancé every event I was trying for was a long shot. She thinks I'm the luckiest person alive at times.

By my count that a total of more than 15?

Actually 3 more if I count Grandaddy.
Oh goodness, kill me now. Might just have to go back to first come first serve on some of these, because frankly its hard to do something another way since based on #TheKing, some of these may not even fill up, which is crazy to think about. Live and learn is all I keep telling myself.
Well, JB, I for one do absolutely appreciate your trying to get events on the West Coast. I certainly will be all over every west coast event, as they are easier to get to travel-wise.
And I hope I get some #TheKing love in the near future!!
How could anyone NOT want to be a part of #TheKing?

It's one thing to think an event sounds fantastic and want to get in, it's another thing to have the time and money to commit to certain events.

I'm really looking forward to the 3 unnamed events (or 2, assuming one of them is #TheGrandaddy). Due to moving a bit earlier than we expected, I'll most likely be limited to local meetups early in the season, and will be putting my name in the hat for later events.

That's the beauty of THP events. Any game is a good enough game. And there's no way to get better than to have something to work towards.

I agree Spivey, I'm going to try and enter all West Coast events that fit my schedule. I also want to do a Florida event as I've never been there.

I know that I'm absolutely thrilled to see so many western options. For as cost prohibitive as it is to fly west for easterners, its just as hard for us westereners to go east. I can fly west very cheaply and easily. Its one of the reasons Im so interested in #TheKing. As far as my completely lack of participation in the first contest, you can chalk it up to my own personal buffoonery. I can assure you though, that it will not happen again.

Maybe the west coast events won't get the entries that the east ones do, but those who get into them will be nothing but appreciative. Thanks for appeasing us!

yes, but I dont see the event being much more expensive than any other, yest the price is higher than some like the invitationals, but lodging is included. as far as transportation go, it costs pretty much the same, for me at least, the flight costs as much for me if I want to go to New York, Orlando or San Diego.

I think people see San Diego and assume the cost to fly out there is higher than to Myrtle Beach or FL. The truth is when we looked last week, it was identical.

right, flying is expensive, but you can go all over the country for pretty much the same price. I sure would like events within driving distances, but I understand how it works, demand has to be hard enough.

one thing is certain, I had a blast last year in OC, but there is no way I am driving that far away by myself again!

For me in Nebraska it's actually quite a bit chepaer to San Diego than to MYR.

This is what I found as well. By about half compared to going to MYR last year. Was a pleasant surprise when I found that out.
