CONTEST Thrillbilly Jim’s Fitting Contest

DYNAPWR Forged was the softest feeling iron overall, even more than Miura. Very explosive off the face. I think it was the longest overall too.

They are mixed throughout. I hit so much it was hard to keep up. It was a really fun whirlwind.
Definitely had to be fun hitting all those clubs. I can imagine you are beat!

No picture showing on this one.
I missed it. We kept trying different combinations to try and make it work. 175 carry, 187 total. Spin was low 5000s. Apex was 90s. But, it did want to fade a lot.

I like these for you. Might have gone a hair lighter shaft to get you a bit more height.
Lighter doesn't unilaterally mean higher.

I don’t remember this simulator given decent angle just apex and launch. The fitter talked about ball flight, launch, and decent as I hit. I used the Titleist AVX to test with.
Is AVX your normal ball? Seems like a bit of a specialist choice if not.

If you saw the price, you wouldn’t like them for me! 😆🥲🥲🥲

Question for you as you hit a lot of irons and have to be exhausted.
Was there a preliminary dialogue or questionaire about brands, styles, budget, etc that was done prior?

I see these numbers and it makes me wonder what the Darkspeed irons would have looked like. A bit of launch assist could have improved that roll out.

Yes sir. Kyle, the fitter, and myself are pretty good friends. So, he knows me well and what I wanted to accomplish.
We talked about what I absolutely wanted to try, what he would recommend, goals, how much and where I play, conditions, etc. I had no allegiance to one brand and looks/category didn’t matter to me. I want to play graphite, that was a must. Budget wise… I told him I would pay more for a fitted set to keep from purchasing so much equipment in the future. The Miura irons might break that budget though.

Did you get to see Wilson Fit AI by chance?

What did you end up with?

I tried Recoil Dart, Dart V, MMT, Tensei, etc. Weight didn’t affect apex much at all. It changed spin some, but contact and consistency was probably the biggest thing. I think shaft selection would make more of a difference to me than head type honestly.

Totally off the subject but I played basketball in college with the guy who became Hillbilly Jim in the WWE. Great guy, we were bowling in the student center after practice a couple of days before the holiday break and he said guys I am out of here. And he was....

Darkspeed isn’t out yet. I might go back and try it and the Forged Tec. I would go OL 100% though

On another note, the prize pack is killer!

I know that, but in a fitting, might have put it in his hands, right?

I still have to discuss fairway woods, wedges, and putter. 😳🤦‍♂️

My Cleveland Halo 3 wood.

Tried TaylorMade and Cobra fairway woods. Standard TaylorMade 3 wood has some ball speed! Hit 154! It carried 255 total 277. 2100 spin. Low boring flight. Cobra was close. 152 ball speed 251 carry 272 total. 2300 spin. Tried lofting up my BRNR Mini driver to hit it off the deck. A lot easier than I thought. I have a decision to make. I’m gonna add a 7 wood to the mix as well. I’m leaning Cobra because the LINQ is a stock shaft, but it’s showing sold out right now.

I hit several wedges today. I was impressed by the Tour Edge Wingman, Mizuno, and Cobra SnakeBite. But, if I had to choose today, I would probably go with Cleveland CBX. Just performs well, forgiving, a lot of options. We’re gonna circle back to wedges after I make a decision on irons.

I agree with JB, I would have liked to have seen decent angle.

If you didn’t hit a HyWood what are we even doing?
