Definitely go through it... I don't always want a drink, even when everyone around me is having one.

When I read this I was reminded that I pretty much stopped after I quit playing competitive hockey. The bar after a game was very enjoyable, or even the parking lot. Most of my drinking in the last many years has been after golf. I used to have several beers after a round with a guy I played with for many years, even though we usually finished our round by 10:00 am. Three years ago, he moved to South Carolina. The guys I play with now can't wait to get in their cars and leave as soon as the round is over, so that after round beer tradition has gone by the wayside. If out for a fancy dinner, I might have a cocktail, or, at home, I occasionally put a shot of Bailey's in a cup of coffee, but that is it.
Yeah, me, too! I miss the discussions and joking around that accompanied the drinking, not the drinking itself.I miss that, not the alcohol.
Another crazy thing I've noticed in basically not drinking is sleep is better and deeper, mornings are much easier to get going, anxiety is way down and my recovery after running/weights is much faster. After the few beers I had at the Stars game I didn't sleep as well and the morning took me longer to get going. #LightWeightI go decent stretches not drinking. At 48 I’m just not bouncing back like I used to. Now my consumption is limited to a few on the course and maybe one after but usually that’s it. At home it’s gin and tonics usually once a month but going on 4 months without one.
