What did you shoot today?

Thanks JB I'll let everyone know how I did after the tourney this weekend.

since I was new to the site I read alot more than I posted but I did finish second in my flight for the club championship the weekend of September 5th and 6th. Just thought I would post a pic of the tourney bracket. I'm Jamie Ewing on there. :bananadance:

38 on my home course, could have been better but I absolutely could not hit my driver nor 5w decently. The only wood I hit good at all was my 5 hybrid, the others were all worm burners.

Saving grace was irons & putter were on, still ended up with 5 GIR's & finally birdied that damn 3rd hole. It's a 195 yds & always beats me up for some reason, but today I finally beat it.

I shot an "easy" 78 (+7) today.

I say it was easy because I was never in any really big trouble. Lots of fairways, crisp contact on the ball, and more than my average GIRs. Just should have made a few more putts.

Of course they changed their minds, and decided to reseed, so this meant we played the back nine twice, while the front 9 grows new grass. In a couple of weeks we'll be playing the front 9 twice. Hopefully they did not start this reseeding project too late in the year. Biggest problem is they are also reseeding the whole practice area, so it won't be open till October 5th....maybe....if the grass grows enough. :banghead:

Played Plainfield CC again late yesterday after a seminar there and played great. Unfortunately I only got 16 holes in before it got too dark to play but I had 7 pars, 1 double and 8 bogies. That is very good for me, especially since this course beat me up 3 weeks ago.

Yesterday morning I played 18 at one of the country clubs in town, a member invited me so the only logical thing to do was to take 1/2 vacation time and go play. I had played the course 1 time before and have watched some Senior Tour exhibitions there so I knew the course a little. I started awful but rebounded decent for an 85.

Last night of league last night at my home course I shot a 39. So 1.5 rounds of golf one in the morning, one in the evening and it was all good. I didn't shoot too bad so I'm happy with it.

62! Don't get excited, darkness caught us and we had to quit after 14 holes.

Played Sebastian GC, about 45 minutes south along the coast. It's a city Muni right by the airport. Made for some interesting scenery since they do a lot of skydiving at that airport it seems. About once every 30-45 minutes the jump plane was taking off, the jumpers piled out overhead, and then it came back and reloaded. Lots of screams, hoots, and hollering coming from overhead!

I had a pretty good round. My driver was consistant, although I only hit 3 fairways. Most of the misses were within 10 yards of the fairway, which is a LOT better than it used to be, and shots are going straight or with a slight draw. Still struggling with the wedges but getting better. Posted a 92 for the round (par 72 - 6,224 yds). Putting was decent, 30 total for the round. Missed several I should have made though.

It's a nice course, pretty open with some well place bunkers to keep you honest.

Got out of work early & played 18 at Christmas Mountain. Consistent front to back with 43's on each, but my driver is really pissing me off. One shot will be beautiful & then the next is just horrible. Will work through that though. Irons are still working well & the putter has been behaving decently.

Came close to holing out 3 chips but unfortunately close just doesn't cut it.

If you are inconsistent with the driver it may be that you are either drifting back off the ball on the back swing or moving through the ball too aggressively with your legs pushing forward on the down swing. Try this when you have a half hour or so on the range, try hitting a few drivers with your feet together, this eliminates sway because if you move off center you will fall down. This drill eliminates weight shift problems and drifting off the ball and you can at least see if your bad drives are a result of some breakdown in your swing or a balance that is much easier to fix. I am 6-3 and my biggest flaw with the driver is drifting off center going back and through because of my long legs, but this can happen to anyone, tall or not. Try this and see if it helps. Another way that is a little harder to do is to spread your feet out as far as possible and hit shots that way, it takes a little more flexibility but it also eliminates the sway and allows you to focus only on your swing path back and through. A third way to do this is the set up with a shaft or dowel in the ground that makes contact with the outside of your right hip and if you push against the dowel going back then you are swaying and not turning.

No offense but I didn't even read your entire post. Typically I am pretty accurate with the driver, it's just been my last 2 rds have been a little screwed up & I know why. Just not setting up correctly & following thru like I should be.

No problem. Nobody has time to read everything.

Played Roxiticus GC in beautiful Mendham, NJ. Very hilly course with uneven lies and tough putting unless you have some experience playing there. Stumbled into an 89.

Only got 9 in tonight, shot 42. Played with a couple of newbys and had a lot of fun. These guy's never got mad about a shot... isn't that how it should be? One shot 62, while the other a 57 and they will be back out there this weekend! I'd rather play with them and a higher score than great player struggling any day.

91. A tale of two 9's--48 & 43

Hit 1 of 7 fairways (not until the 9th!) with 19 putts on the front, hit 4 of 6 with 14 putts on the back.

There are 5 par 3s on that golf course or is that 4 of 6 a typo?
Yup, 5 par 3s. 2 on the front and 3 on the back--3 each of par 3, par 4, and par 5. So I should be able to score better on the back 9--that is unless one hits the approach shot on one of the par 5s into the water! D'oh! Okay, I'm over it now...

Played at Mill Pond on Long Island yesterday. 36 holes of fun in the wind. Snuck it round in 78 in the morning and squeezed in a cheeky 75 in the afternoon, which was pretty good fun. My afternoon round I hit 9 of 13 fairways, with the four missed ones being one on purpose (lake on the left and I decided to play to the fairway to the right of ours, and three just in the fringe cut at the edge of the fairways. Driving was good. Irons so so, chipping horrific and putting very good. An interesting mix all told.

86 at Saddlebrooke Ranch. I didn't ahve an awful day, just couldn't get anything to drop on the greens.

87 -- 43 & 44

Notable today was having only two double-bogeys. New low for me!

Played Friday and Saturday this weekend, thanks to a comp day I needed to use up.

Friday I went to The Savannahs @ Merritt Island (about 5 miles south of Kennedy Space Center). It's a county-run course, but pretty well taken care of. I played pretty good, still struggled with the wedges. Posted a 99, but no blow-up holes. Putting was good, 30 total and all 1's or 2's. The fairways were a little soft due to some recent rain, so not much roll. It wasn't uncommon to walk up to the ball off the tee and see the ball mark within a couple feet. Blue tees are about 6,000 yards with a 69.6/130 rating.

Saturday I went to Baytree National Golf Links. Haven't played there in a while. Wedge play was better on the front, but on the back I had huge issues with all my irons the last 4 holes - couldn't hit anything in the air. Driver was working great, hit 7 of 14 fairways, and misses weren't by much. Ended up with a 108 after finishing double, double, double, +5 (+11 total) on the last 4 holes. Putting was so-so, 36 for the round. Lots of lip-outs caused 3-3putts.

78 at The Shores on Saturday from the back tees - very wet everywhere after all the rain last week except for the greens which are drying out pretty well. No roll at all on tee shots. Had one three putt and missed 2 birdie putts, hit 9 of 14 fairways but only 7 of 18 greens, wind was gusting up to probably 20 mph off the lake. Decided to setup and hit my driver exactly like my 3W and started hitting it very straight.

Unfortunately my round was cut short because we were on 14 and we had been on the course for 4 hours and 45 minutes and I had to leave as I had a hockey game. The three that stayed said the round was just a few minutes shy of 6 hours. 20 waits on tee boxes all day. 80 degree day in October in Colorado so the munis were stacked. Fun day with the future in-laws anyhow.
