Grun Golf Apparel Review

If you like to have options, then there has never been a better time to be a golfer. While that is true of clubs, it might be even more so when discussing apparel. There has never before been as many different companies on the scene offering the breadth of looks, materials, and styles that we are seeing right now. Today, THP is shedding light on another such brand, Grun Golf

Who is Grun Golf?

To immediately answer the collective thoughts of those reading about just what kind of a name is Grun, well, it is in fact the German word for green. There is where you find the roots to the story behind the brand as they fall squarely into the category of aiming to create fashion options in golf that are more “green” through recycled materials. It is a fitting name as “green” is something that we associate with the good in the world and nature around us including life, nature, renewal, and of course, the environment.

Grun Golf wants to not only be part of the growing “ethical fashion” segment in golf, but to be a pioneer in it. Frankly, that ambition is nice to hear. We were able to get two of Grun’s new polo options in hand for a closer look.

Grun Golf – “Maui” Polo

While not everyone is a pattern kind of person when it comes to their polos, I definitely am, so the Maui was a fun one to get in hand. The island and palm tree driven theme obviously shines through here, but it keeps it fun and not overly gaudy.

The Maui is priced at $75.00 and is available in S, M, L, XL, and XXL.

Grun Golf – “Green Apple” Polo

This one will appeal much more to the golfer who likes patterns but prefers them not to be as in your face. The Green Apple is a vibrant green, blue, and white pattern that looks good from a distance, but pops more the closer you get.

Design and Fit

The shirts are both comprised of 92% recycled polyester and 8% spandex, which in hand gives them that silky mid-light feel which we now associate with more breathable polos. The makeup does make it wrinkle resistant and moisture wicking, while the 4-way stretch keeps things workable for swinging the golf club. Both shirts have nice stitching, the collars have substance, and the three-button placket is on par with the rest of the industry.

In terms of fit, they are more tapered and less square than other size L polo’s that I have, but still not a Euro cut. Compared to others I normally wear in the same size, it is more snug in the chest and core, so that is something to keep in mind sizing wise. This does mean that you could likely go up a size without feeling like you are swimming in it.

The Details

You can see these and Grun Golf’s other options on their website www.grungolf.com. While patterns and stripes are definitely their game right now, they seem to do a good job of providing options that run the gamut of mild to wild. It will be interesting to see there Grun goes from here.
