At THP, we believe that testing should be done not only by us, but also by the golfers just like you. One of the cool features about being an active member of the THP Forum is that we look to you guys/gals, the consumers, to give feedback on equipment to golfers all around the world. Each month we send out iron sets, drivers, hybrids, putters, trainings aids and golf balls to our active members to be a part of the THP Forum Member testing. Who is ready to test the Callaway JAWS Raw wedges?
Callaway JAWS Raw Wedges
Last month Callaway released the JAWS Raw wedges in multiple finishes and they are hitting stores today. If you missed our featured preview on the technology, you can find it here. We want to find out how well they work in the hands of golfers who want to review them in our online community.
We are looking for FIVE THPers that want to test a brand new wedge for a period of a couple of months and report their feedback on our forum. At the conclusion of the testing, the wedge is yours to keep.
Criteria
We will select a group of THPers to test a Callaway JAWS Raw wedge
You must be able to check in on the forum thread daily (or close to it) to discuss and answer questions.
You will be reviewing the wedge for a period of 60 days.
How to Signup
Tell us which loft, grind and finish you want to test and why.
Are you able to review and answer questions daily or close on THP?
We will announce the testers later this week. If you are not selected and want to pick up a new Callaway JAWS Raw wedge, or are and want to round out the set, check out their website here.
I practice my chipping and partial wedge shots a lot so I’ll be able to answer questions and provide feedback daily.
Chrome, S-Grind
50*, 54* or 60* ideal (or whatever LH wedge Callaway might give you to test). I’m not picky.
New black finish with a cool name, check. New grind that’s an evolution of the C grind, check.
Z Grind
Black Plasma
I went with the 58* because it’s the wedge I use the most around the green. I like to open the face to hit higher soft pitch shots and open the face in the bunker so the Z grind makes the most sense based on how I play. Went with the black finish to reduce glare and prefer the look.
Thanks!
56* Black Plasma
W Grind
I have CBX2 48 and 52 degree and am looking to slot a 56 as my 3rd wedge in my bag. I have always loved Callaway Jaws wedges and would compare it against my CBX2.
Are you able to review and answer questions daily or close on THP?
Absolutely, I have done a ball review for THP before and loved it.
Heads up, those aren’t options for the newer Raw wedges.
Are you able to review and answer questions daily or close on THP? – absolutely!!
yes I can check in and review daily!
good luck everyone and thanks for the opportunity THP as always!
No entry here as I am at a full compliment of wedges good luck to all who get picked!
I would like to try:
50deg, S-grind, in the Raw Black
The 50 degree wedge is probably my most used club in the bag. I love to use this club for a variety of shots, from little chips around the green and manipulating the face, to pitch shots 100 yards and in. I chose the S-grind instead of the W-grind based on the condition type and divot type. I’m not too steep and in Florida, the conditions can vary from real wet and soft to dry and firm. As far as the finish, I would like to try the raw black because my current clubs are chrome and the glare has bothered me around the green in sunny Florida.
And yes, I am able to review and answer questions on a daily basis.
Would be a great opportunity and very interesting to compare to the last 4 years of callaway wedges. I am a College player at Southern Illinois and routinely practice every day prepping for tournaments. I currently play all last years jaws wedges in the chrome finish but love the raw finish on the face of the new ones. I am looking to flight my wedges lower while keeping versatility around the green in the lower bounce option. Short game is always most important and wedges help you set up scoring opportunities! Thanks!
60*
X Grind
Chrome
I’m a divot taker, but love the option to get relief around the greens for different shots. I want it to be versatile.
54 is my most used wedge so would want to direct compare to my current gamer to analyze performance. How the tungsten weighting May change the experience with this wedge is the most intriguing part of this release. Plus I’m a rust bucket convert and would likely give the face a little boost so folks know what to expect from looks later in its life cycle. Would have daily interactions.
Yep, I’m available to provide daily updates.
Black Plasma
Z grind
I have to throw my hat in the ring to try the new Z Grind. It sounds incredible!
54* "S" grind Black Plasma
I use my current 54* PM Grind for a variety of shots from bunker play to pitch and run and full swing 85-90 yards.
I play or hit the range 3-4x per week.
Just retired, so would be able to check in daily
The new Z-Grind – sounds like an interesting option
I think I would like the Black Plasma
I am willing to try any loft but would prefer a 50* or 52*
Good luck to everyone and interested to read others reviews too
60°-08°
Z-Grind
Raw Chrome
Left handed
I enjoy using a 60 degree wedge out of greenside bunkers and like to open the face around the greens as well, so I think that this would be an amazing wedge to have in the arsenal.
S Grind – Right Hand
Black Plasma
I would love to compare and contrast these against my 13 year old illegal X-Forged Mack Daddy wedges!
I love the black full toe wedges I’m playing but the only change I would make is a grind and bounce option that lowers the leading edge when I open it up. It appears the z grind might do exactly that. My 58 is a workhorse as it is my primary club for chipping and pitches from 70 yards and in. I get creative in my chipping adjusting the ball location in my stance as well as how open or closed the face is in order to adjust flight and spin. I would love to try one out to see if it fits what I’m looking for!
Left Handed 58 Degree
X Grind
Raw Chrome
Thanks to Callaway and THP for this awesome opportunity.
60* Z grind Chrome (because I’m a lefty and don’t get Black Plasma lol)
Z grind replaces my favorite grind that Callaway had, the Low Bounce W. Gotta see what all the hype is about and a 60 is my most used club in the bag. Also would love to see how the new face performs with spin since I’ve actually seen a bit less than I imagined the more the year goes on with my Full Toe. And spin is a must with how much I use it even close to the green.
I’m here every day and feel like I’ve done a good job on everything I’ve had to review so far.
Thanks for the opportunity THP! Regardless of what happens, I hope to be grabbing two or three of these at some point this season
Welcome to THP!
If chosen I would go with the Raw 54/12 W grind. I’ve used that one before and I know it works for most of the turf conditions I face. Currently playing the ZipCore 54/12 Full it would be a good test.
I have no problems sharing the results and being on the forum and I can do a straight compare of the Jaws Raw vs the Jaws MD5 both on simulator and during actual play.
I would enjoy trying the 54 degree W-grind in the raw black finish. I need the W grind for the added forgiveness, and that would be more similar to my current 54 degree wedge. I’m not afraid to admit I need the forgiveness. The 54 degree loft fits in my bag well, and I use this loft the most for the biggest variety of shots.
I’m checking in on the forum daily, so I’d be available to post reviews/thoughts or help answer questions.
60°-08° (Bounce) Z Grind chrome finish. My 60 degree sees a ton of work close to the green for those short pitches. It’s the easiest for me to provide feedback on given the number of chances and the Z grind is something new. I’d like to see what it’s about.
Are you able to review and answer questions daily or close on THP?
Of course.
Club – 50 degree S grind.
Why – I’m particularly interested in testing the new wedges because my current wedge is not working out as well as I’d like. I have a 50 degree Jaws MD5 S grind, sometimes I hit it really well, but I blade it or duff it way more than I should. So why wouldn’t I go with the W grind for maximum forgiveness? Well, honestly I should. But if you are looking for new product testing, wouldn’t it be nice to do a comparison of Callaway’s "old" technology versus their new lineup? I am personally interested in seeing if there are any improvements, seeing if it is worth spending the extra $50 on the new lineup. I also have a home simulator that I am finishing up installing this weekend and would love to mess around with both of them to see how they compare.
Will I be on the forum – well, I am a newbie here so you’ll have to take my word for it. I work from home and am on the computer pretty much all day. I’m always looking around on YouTube or twitter. I also take breaks throughout the day and often times you’ll find me chipping in my living room onto the couch, or putting. With the home sim going in, I’ll be able to walk my happy a$$ down to the basement, hit a few shots, report my findings etc etc.
Totally understand if not selected for this one – will look forward to future opps as well!!
Yes I am able to review.
Welcome to THP!
I’m able to review as I play/practice regularly and am on this site most every day.
