Off Course is back this week with a fantastic show. Hosted by Dan Edwards each Friday he gives you a deep look into the world of golf and equipment in a way unlike any other podcast has done before. Today Jason Finley joins the show to talk about Jon Rahm and his search for the perfect golf ball.
It wouldn’t be Off Course without some tangents, but Dan and Jason discuss everything from the latest releases from Callaway to the Grandaddy of Em All and everything in between. Fresh off the win, the John Rahm golf ball is certainly discussed as well. This show has a lot going on and is one you will not want to miss.
Episode 106 is here and Dan and Jason discuss the following topics.
Callaway Chrome Soft Golf Balls
The Jon Rahm Golf Ball
Early Truvis Samples in the Wild
The Wannabe Triple Track
Using Triple Track for Practice
How are Golf Balls Doing Right Now?
And so much more
You can listen to the show right here, Apple Podcasts or of anywhere you do your listening and downloading from. I’m liking that list.
Mine always looks like trivia podcast, fantasy books and conspiracy theories.
I’m pumped this one dropped today (like JB put in the other thread) so I can listed to it on my ride home tonight.

This just tells me I should record for longer every week hahaha
Sweet a Thursday drop!
The hex pattern really works. Going back the the Hex black tour.
Oh can’t wait to listen to this one
The podcast came out early enough to listen on my ride home. Mr. Finley is a favorite for sure. I heard the pain in Dan’s voice for being called a Guardians fan.
Just finished listening.
Boy, that belt talk at the end got me fired up.

I haven’t listened yet but I’m assuming this is the correct reaction. ANYTHING Grandaddy related gets me fired up and I’m not going anymore!
Listening now, and as soon as I heard Finley’s voice I can’t remove the smile off my face.
Callaway is making leaps and bounds with their golf balls. Can’t wait to hear what’s coming down the pipe this year.
Thanks @Canadan for bringing back the memories ?. I’d have to disagree about the Captains Match being a good match though as it was fucking spectacular. But will agree with the part on Jason’s tenacity nearly holing out not once but twice coming down the stretch.

Tuning in now
This was a lifesaver when I got the alert it dropped! I had been stuck in highway traffic.

Hell yes let’s go time to grind! That belt needs a new home!
I don’t buy Finley when he said the belt needs a dusting. I’m convinced shining that baby up is part of his Monday morning routine.
I know what I’m doing tonight. Going to listen shortly.
Fun listen. Can’t wait for the granddaddy and @Davidhibler and crew to throw down.
I just started and have to stop shortly, but I can’t believe the Odyssey Swirl was called a swoosh
Always enjoy listening to Finley
Finally getting a chance to listen to @Canadan and the man himself, @JasonFinleyCG

What a noob. 😀
Good listen. Nice for people to hear it from him on 2 balls on monitor with same launch and spin characteristics can essentially be completely different balls on course because of different aero. Gotta get ’em out there to see how they fly. I like that.
It’s pretty awesome they have Rahm and Xander to use in descriptions/examples on ball stuff. ‘Both high spin’ just have different wants. That’s cool.
Can’t wait to listen to this!
Excited to listen!!!
Fantastic episode @Canadan . I’m always so happy and impressed with the questions and conversation that goes on during these.
This listen is on deck!!! Can’t wait
Finley is always a good guest, interesting to hear about the ball makeups and dimple patterns. Knowing that engineers from places like Boeing are involved in golf R&D, whether it’s balls or clubs, is always kind of mind blowing to me for some reason.
I listened yesterday evening while mowing the grass. Fun podcast.
I listened to a recording of Tiger Woods a year or so ago where he said that he likes to play a ball that spins more so that he can choose to take spin off on his shots. I found it interesting to hear Jason say that this is the same approach taken by Rahm and why he chooses CS X.
@Canadan another great episode. One thing I appreciate each week is I walk away with at least one new tidbit. This week talking about the chrome soft ball I didn’t know about the dimple pattern and the purpose of it and how it has improved aerodynamics in a cross winds compared to competitor balls.
Good listen.
Interesting in hearing about the companies and players making their own version of the Triple Track. I can say I have my own ball making that uses a sharpie to create a version of the triple track (not the true technology of the lines spacing and such).
Was surprised to hear about the issues with soft goods and such still being an issue and possibly continuing for the foreseeable future.
I was happy to see the golf clubs I ordered from Callaway make it to me within just a couple of weeks from the time I did order them. Callaway has done a fantastic job getting their equipment out to the players so far.
couldn’t we have called this episode “Off Course: Jon Rahm’s Balls”

I mean we could have.
Going to play this afternoon. Conditions will be interesting. It will be a good day to put this ball up in a head to head test.
Must carve out time for this one today!!!
Haha love how quick he was with “SWIRL”
It’s cool when a guest mentions the THP Tech Studio
Loved this week’s episode!!!
@JasonFinleyCG is a must listen to guest.
Played Friday in what I would call very windy conditions. The CSX in some head to head against another ball did very well. It was longer into the wind and held its line better in crosswinds
Oh man, I forgot I haven’t listened yet. ?
Finally had some time, throwing this on now!
Whoa, the hex pattern is different between models? ?
