The resurgence of the Original Penguin brand in golf stateside has certainly added another fantastic lineup to our list of options. They have found a way to provide modern takes and materials and mix it with just enough nostalgia for one of the absolute coolest logos, and mascots, in golf. That has continued into 2024 with them now flexing their style into more unique outerwear pieces, of which we were able to get a couple in hand for a closer look.

2024 Original Penguin Outerwear – Insulate Mixed-Media 80’s Golf Wind Jacket
What is classic will always come back around again, that seems to be a certainty when it comes to fashion. While not everyone will have the same type of nostalgia when it comes to the puffer jacket from our youth, it is definitely amidst a comeback. Original Penguin is bringing their version to the table and the focus is warmth mixed with some high quality retro vibes.

The “Insulate Mixed-Media 80’s Golf Wind Jacket” is a mouthful when it comes to the precise name of the jacket, but there is ample going on to merit it. In hand the multiple textures of 100% polyester materials are married nicely and tied together with a mock collar and retro-style chest piping as well. There is a good heft to the jacket without being outright heavy. Better yet, with the heavy-duty zipper, zipping pockets, and ribbed cuffs there is total coverage from the elements. Any time you have something this size, there is some mobility sacrifice, but in staying with the poly the golf swing was still possible for me on the super cold days.

Price point of the 80’s Golf Wind Jacket is $180.00 but there have been many sales as we approach spring, something to keep an eye on perhaps. Color options are the Caviar as pictured, Quiet Gray, and Dark Navy.

2024 Original Penguin Outerwear – 1/4 Zip Penguin Print Windbreaker Jacket
One of the most overlooked pieces of apparel in recent years has been the windbreaker. Whether it just went out of fashion, or we all became super obsessed with traditional fabric quarter zips, Original Penguin believes there should always be a place for it, and after getting their Penguin Print Windbreaker in hand, I agree. Versatility for on and off course wear is maximized here.

When we say penguin print though, it isn’t just one or two, no, this is the arrival of the dancing Pete, and I for one am here for it. While Original Penguin is referring to the pattern as “whimsy”, it is just flat out fun with one of the coolest apparel logos on the planet covering the piece. This windbreaker is 100% polyester with a Poplin underlayer, and it is not only an effective windbreaker, but water repellant too. Being ultra lightweight with a true to size cut, there is room to maneuver and swing with no issues.

Add in the hooded collar with heavy 1/4 zip and strong elastic cuffs, you are ready for much of what nature throws at you. The Penguin Print Windbreaker is available in Black Iris (pictured) or Caviar. It is priced at $120.00 but as with the other piece, Penguin has some of the best sales opportunities out there.

More information on these pieces as well as everything else which Original Penguin offers can be found on their website www.originalpenguin.com.
I’m ordering that jacket today.
Saw it recently and loved it in hand
Great writeup! Really like the looks of that puffer wind jacket. Don’t know that I’m gonna drop $180 on it though. Not a knock on them, that’s an in general statement.
I’m not always a fan of the OP tops (love their pants/shorts), but that jacket is legit.
I really like the look of that 1/4 zip windbreaker. I’m going to keep an eye out for the sale and try and snag one then.
OP is absolutely crushing it lately. The 1/4 is one of my favorite pieces right now.

Like that jacket. Their subdued stuff is always really nice when they go wild they go off the deep end a bit for me. Now the only thing I think about when I hear Original Penguin is in the podcast when the lady talked about Pete, so weird :ROFLMAO:.
The 1/4 zip windbreaker is on sale right now for $40. They have medium and large available and even though I’m “husky” I grabbed a large.
Digging the Dancing Petes!
I really dig the look of that jacket. I could see myself wearing that on and off the course.
Thanks for the peek at the new Original Penguin offerings!
Their stuff is so nice. Great write up, James.
They look SO good!
I’ve got a 1/4 zip hoodie jacket from last year that is one of my favorite things.
I like that jacket very much.
Ooh those are nice. I have one Original Penguin thing and it is super nice, comfortable, and seems well made. Like what they have here.
Looks great! At first look I didn’t live the hoodie design, but when I zoomed in it actually grew on me.
Having a couple of their previous years items…I can attest to the quality and craftsmanship. Really really good and comfortable stuff
Already onsale lol.

If I liked hoodies I’d get the windbreaker. Love me some dancing Pete. Alas, i don’t love a hood flopping around.
@Jman, I think we’re similar sized, right (6’5, 230)? Did you get the XL or XXL hoodie? I need long arms and not too wide.

I’m 6’3 215, the L fits, the XL gives me room without being boxy.
I’m liking that jacket. The quiet gray color looks awesome.
Not exactly my style, but I’m boring.

Hmmm, thinking XL then.
Really digging the jacket. I wish they’d go back to using the small logo without the circle more often though.
I do like the look of the jacket.
Grabbed the jacket but in a different color way. At the sale price plus an additional 10% off couldn’t pass it up.
