Yeah, I think that’s why this way resonates with me. I hate being told I suck, regardless of the facts. In fairness, I think @Canadan said something like this in a thread and then I started hearing it more at other places and I figured I’d give it a shot. I still slump my shoulders initially if a fat a par 3 tee shot, but then I’ll reach back, hold the pose, and twirl that club like there’s no tomorrow. I’ve been that guy and I didn’t like him. No more tomahawks for me unless it’s a steak.
Yes sir!!!
I hate being told to expect to suck hahaha. I’ll aim for the sky and take it like a champ when it doesn’t pan out.
This is everything that I speak to every time I see one of those damn ‘law of averages’ posts like we’re being slapped on the wrist for expecting a lot out of ourselves.
If I am standing on a par 3 tee box, I know that statistically it is super unlikely that I am going to drop one in the hole, but it doesn’t mean I don’t play to accomplish just that. I also know that law of averages can play in my favor, assuming I stiff one to 10 feet and the next par 3 is 40 feet or worse.
I am ALL for in the moment hyper optimism.
Almost as much as I am for someone who actually enjoys golf and doesn’t throw a tantrum after it doesn’t work out.
Let’s tell that story. Aim like you’re Tiger Woods, and react like you’re DJ ?
Witnessing the pose/club twirl in person was fantastic.
I start every round thinking it could be a PB and that’s always my aim, even if I’m currently in a slump and not playing well. But I don’t start throwing fits the first time I write anything higher than a birdie on my scorecard either – I’m realistic about my game and I know that bad shots, double bogeys and the occasional 3-putt are going to happen, and they’re not unusual for a mid handicap golfer with no talent.
I do as well. And in a lot of ways it’s what I was trying to say and didn’t do a good job at it. I believe in lofty goals. I just also believe that if not reached it doesn’t need to be filled with sadness and anger
I’m stealing that and I’m not gonna feel bad about it at all.
I am in the market for new irons next season, so I am really excited about what was teased.
Congrats @PPFour12 ??
Congrats @PPFour12
I’m not that good at golf, it’s something I do for fun. So I try to remember to enjoy the beautiful shots and for the bad ones I enjoy the beautiful park I’m in.
all the talk about upcoming iron tech has me nerding out and wondering if I should put off ordering what I was going to order
and that upcoming contest sounds incredible!
Love the chatter about expectations and the follow up posts here about get sullen. No fun to play with folks who get all grumpy on the back nine if its not going well.
Since you mentioned it….

This is your brain on Skyline Chili
I think my bucket hat shopping is over ?
Darn right.
yeah it does. Good call, but I dont think I can wear that T-Shirt golfing
Same. I was going to look at getting new ones late this fall but may try to hold out until spring now.
It is mind blowing that these new compact irons are more forgiving than GI irons of previous generations.
Good question. With the change the software isn’t accepting it. We are working on it.
