As the ball is starting to drop and the countdown begins to 2012, golfers everywhere will be thinking about their goals for the next season. From breaking a certain threshold score wise to finally settling in on which new equipment you will be jumping for, the amount of changes and ideas that we put together for the new season are always plentiful.
THP wants to hear from you. What are your 2012 resolutions and how are you going to accomplish them?
First item is health; I want to put on 10 pounds of muscle through weight lifting and also start doing yoga to help with lower back issues.
Secondly is golf; I am going to start taking lessons and want to be a 8 handicap by the Morgan Cup in July (currently an 11.2). Need to improve all facets of my game.
Nothing crazy on this end, my goal will be to get back down to scratch. Not. Just on the computer but on the course. My goal will be to be under, even or no more than one over.
Easy….Be prepared to play my best golf come the Morgan Cup. Other than that just eat a little less and be active a little more as a whole family.
Get healthy…then see where it takes me.
Want to break 90 (would LOVE to do that before the May THP Outing/Demo Day) and get more consistent with my mid-long iron game. Started down path to both by starting weekly lessons again.
I’m looking to have some fun and see my scores drop some more.
I’m going to work on my health. Not so much fast food, ride the bike three days/week, and work on my low back/abs to help improve swing speed and power. I’d love to get back to shooting in the 70’s, but I don’t have the time for that! I will have one swing, not four, and will trust it this year!
Low scores! Yeah!
To have my normal round be in the low to mid 80’s. I would say to lose 20 pounds too, but we all know that ain’t gonna happen. hehehe.
I’m not typically one to make any outrageous New Year’s resolutions but I’ve already started on the big one and that is my health and fitness levels. Working hard to trim up and turn some flab into muscle.
Golf related; I saw a lot of improvements late in 2011 so I look to build on those, specifically I want to hit the ball longer and straighter than last year. I always strive to improve my putting but outside of winter months I usually don’t practice it, this year I plan on constantly practicing my putting as well.
I plan to prepare for the Morgan Cup. Practicing putting and chipping/pitching is probably what the main focus will be on since that’s where I think I can make up the most strokes . . .
. . . which leads to lowering my handicap to 15 or less, having most of my rounds in the 80s instead of 90s and the big one is to have a round in the 70s (I shot 39 for nine on Christmas, so I know it’s at least possible!).
I want to get healthier and break 80. I think both of those goals are easily within reach for me! I just need to be motivated to do it!
Running my first marathon, keeping one golf swing, playing forged irons. Not necessarily in that order.
Get back into, and continue, working out. I’d like to get my hcap under 4 and really practice my short game. I just signed up for a year long improvement plan with a golf pro, so my golf goals should be attainable.
Start walking the dogs more and losing weight. Start slowly with getting back into weight lifting. Trying out my new clubs (WHEN the weather agrees!!!!) Hoping that a late Santa gift will be some lessons during the winter.
To break 85 and get down to 170. Mainly to improve driving and short game.
To put a bag together and stick with it. I played golf for 20 years, getting as low as a 4 handicap, with the same clubs and even the same putter. Quit for 7 years while my kids were small. Since coming back I have not been able to stick with the same clubs for more than two months. That changes in 2012.
Continue to be a non-smoker and get in better shape which I think will help make me a better player. I have devoted myself to a big practice routine this year to get ready for the Morgan Cup and I hope with that finally breaking 80 will become a reality.
Get in better shape. My back has really been killing me lately and I think if I get my core in better shape my back will respond.
Get my game back to where it used to be. To do that I need to get my short game back.
Get my boys out there playing
I never do this! I have always thought it was foolish to set myself up for failure. This year though is different, this year I turn the big 4-0 and its time I address my weight. When I was younger I was a very vain person, wearing only name brand clothes and staying in shape. At 20 I was 6’1″ and weighed 190 and was in very good shape. As of this morning at 39 I’m still the same 6’1″ and a not so healthy 252! Its time to do something about it and I know its going to be a tough journey. I’m hoping that making it public will help me get it kickstarted and ill let you know of my progress. My goal is to drop 40 pounds by time for the outting. Everybody wish me luck!
NYR is to quit being a “club ho” and stick with the same sticks for all of 2012.
Play more often is my goal.
My New Years Resolution is to work on my time management. I wouldn’t say I’m bad at it, but I want to make sure it is perfectly balanced between work, family, school, and golf.
My golf resolution is to improve my physical health. Weight loss, diet, excercise and stretching. I think this could drop 2 to 3 strokes per round.
