Edel EAS 1.5 Putter

A couple of months ago we had a feature on what it was like going through an Edel Fitting Experience. Unlike a lot of fittings, that is essentially what it is, an experience. Finding the right putter can immediately have an impact on one’s game, but in my opinion, there was a gap in the Edel putter lineup. The face balanced plumber’s neck model that doesn’t look odd was that missing piece and today that changes with this addition of the Edel EAS 1.5 Putter.

Edel EAS 1.5 Putter

Traditionally, Face Balanced plumber’s neck style putters have been made with extremely long necks to make up for the weight. This is a bit of a different recipe with the Edel EAS 1.5, the company has reduced some of the weight out of the toe area. Of course, being a fitting forward company, the heel weight can still be changed which will alter the balance a bit.

The lineup offers something for every style of golfer and once going through their Fit for Stroke and Fit for Aim you get a better sense of which one of these models best works for you.

Edel EAS putter lineup
  • EAS 1.0 Putter – A more traditional blade shape with an innovative flare, the EAS 1.0 head shape is designed with parallel lines and tends to help right aimers aim left. The interchangeable alignment plates help these focus patterns. Lines on the top help you focus forward and move your aim to the right; while lines on the bottom move your focus backwards and aim more left.
  • EAS 2.0 Putter – A modified blade coupled with a concave radius on the back edge of the putter; shifts your focus to the middle of the putter, and is a neutral aiming putter ideal for many golfers. The interchangeable alignment plates help these focus patterns. Lines on the top help you focus forward and move your aim to the right; while lines on the bottom move your focus backwards and aim more left.
  • EAS 4.0 Putter – A progressive mallet shape that is hot on Tour and all over the world, the EAS 4.0 head shape is designed with the radius features of a mallet and the most internal perpendicular lines of our models.  This can help both left and right aimers. The interchangeable alignment plates help these focus patterns. Lines on the top help you focus forward and move your aim to the right; while lines on the bottom move your focus backwards and aim more left.
  • EAS 5.0 Putter – The EAS 5.0 head shape is designed as a true mallet shape that shifts your focus forward and helps left aimers aim to the right. The interchangeable alignment plates help these focus patterns. Lines on the top help you focus forward and move your aim to the right; while lines on the bottom move your focus backwards and aim more left.
  • EAS 1.5 Putter – A traditional blade style shape with a plumber’s neck hosel, but with the unique trait of being face balanced.  The plumbers neck offers a traditional look favored by some of the world’s best. While most plumbers neck styled putters have a significant amount of toe hang, due to the weighting of the 1.5 it is face balanced.  The parallel lines of the design in addition to the hosel will help right aimers aim their putter more to the left.

Edel wants to obviously sell putters, that part makes a lot of sense. Yet they really are not asking you to buy one off the rack at the store, but rather go through some extensive (and rather fun) testing to figure out how to help you make more putts. The EAS 1.5, and every other putter in their lineup, was designed to get rid of the “trial and error” purchase process.
