New limited edition release for Vokey Design in the way of a finish option. Earlier in the year, Cameron Smith won the Sony playing all-black SM8 wedges and now is the time you can get your hands on some.
This limited release features a Jet Black raw finish with a black paint fill to complete the murdered out dark look. Each SM8 is then complimented with a True Temper Dynamic Golf S200 Black Onyx shaft and exclusive Golf Pride New Decade Multi Compound Black/Gray grip with the iconic BV Wings logo.
“I’ve been stocking more and more Jet Black heads on the Tour Van each year,” said Vokey Tour Representative Aaron Dill. “Players love the look of it, and the contrast you get when you add custom stamping and paintfill – it just pops. Jet Black also helps players reduce glare on those really bright days. When you add in the black shaft and grip, it’s a sharp setup.”

murdered outdark look on them. Its in the article haha.
Its a black finish on a raw wedge, so it will wear.
I think you are probably right here. I went from a guy that loves rust to one that is not a fan for some reason. But yet I love the jet black look of these.
I didn’t think about this when ordering mine. I’ll try to get a comparison between the new 49* and the old 50* to see how much of a difference it makes. One of the reasons I went with the black is to reduce the glare from the sun when looking down.
The DBM options on the market do not really wear all that much. Not a ton of them, but they exist.
I just got in my first SM8 with the Jet black finish and will be using it. I’ll try to get a few pics here in a week or two.
I am totally with you here. I love the rust look, but I cringe every time I clean them because it makes the towel a mess.
These wedges are so good. From the coating to the grip, it’s just sharp.
Wear is always my concern with black clubs though.

I noticed this as well with these. I don’t recall doing it near as much with my SM7’s. I have also noticed it much more on the dozen ProV1x that we received from Titleist. I’ve saved them for tournament rounds and have noticed that they seem to get 2-3 small little cuts from the grooves. Not sure if it’s the covers or just the fact that for some reason I have hit a few more really crisp clean wedge shots with them. Could be just a coincidence because of that.
