At THP, we believe that testing should be done not only by us, but also by the golfers just like you. One of the cool features about being an active member of the THP Forum is that we look to you guys/gals, the consumers, to give feedback on equipment to golfers all around the world. Each month we send out iron sets, drivers, hybrids, putters, trainings aids and golf balls to our active members to be a part of the THP Forum Member testing.
The mini
THP will select a group of testers to review the Theragun mini. Each person that has been in the THP Tech Studio and tried this little device out, has raved about it. Small, lightweight and the perfect size to keep in your golf bag.
Criteria
We will select a group of 12 THPers to test the mini alongside a staff writer.
You must be able to check in on the forum thread daily (or close to it) to discuss usage and answer questions. We are looking for people that can really take the time to use this fantastic device before and after rounds, before or after working out and of course throughout the day.
You will be reviewing the device for a period of 30 days (then it is yours to keep).
How to Signup
1. Comment below why you want to try the device out.
2. Share with us how you will review it in the forum.
3. Sit back and wait to see if you are chosen in the next few days.
I would absolutely love to review this! Not only because of golf and my lower back being stiff after rounds now, but I sit at a desk 40 hours a week, along with a 45 minute commute each way in a car and my neck and shoulders get super tense. Have heard good things about this and would love to be able provide feedback. I would report back every day bc this would be the first thing I would use as soon as I walked in the door. I definitely think this could make a difference in my stiffness. I usually play golf at least once a week so between golf and work this would be a savior if it works out! Thank you for the opportunity!
Over many years of serious weight lifting and golfing I have developed several areas with lingering pain and tightness. I have a regular regiment of rolling, stretching and icing that I stick to. I have been recently looking into purchasing a theragun to work out those tight muscles. The most constant tightness I have is in my Quadratus Lumborum (QL). If you’ve never had a QL cramp up, consider yourself lucky. It all started up occurred last October before a tournament. I decided to clean the windows inside of my truck and when I finished and stood up straight…bam!! A cramp that had me leaning over like I was punched in the kidneys. Of course I played the next day and developed hip pain. I still suffer with tightness and it has caused my Rectus Femorus to get tight as well. I would like to see if using a Theragun would help to loosen up the muscles and relieve some of the pain. In my review I would provide daily updates on the level of tightness and pain with daily use. I would focus on the effectiveness of the treatment with the Theragun. As someone who has tried everything from chiropractic care to massage treatments, I feel that I could provide a thorough review of this product. Thank you for your consideration.
I’d love to review it. I hit 40 and my body started falling apart. Years of football finally has caught up to me and need something like the Theragun to help me in the mornings, before my round and especially after my rounds or my workouts. If I am selected, I will post a video every day either showing how I used it or explaining how it helped that day. I also promise I will not do the videos in the nude!
I want to try the Theragun Mini because it’s the perfect package of mobility and massage gun recovery. I struggle with pain and stiffness in various joints and muscle groups and my performance on the course suffers accordingly. The Theragun Mini is the perfect on the go device to help me loosen up and perform at my best on the course.
To share my thoughts with the forum, I’d highlight usability, mobility, intent, and performance. I would plan to use the Theragun Mini at the course, on the range, before and after workouts, and throughout the day (I get stiff sitting in my office chair from 95).
I have had back pain ever since I got injured as a high school wrestler. I use an inversion table often and recently picked up the theragun pro model which is incredible. I’m interested in the theragun mini to see how it compares to the pro. I’m always hesitant to bring the pro to the course with me as it’s too bulky to fit in my bag and I don’t want to leave a battery in a hot car. There are times on the course where it gets backed up and my back gets stiff. I try to stretch it out but a product like the mini would be perfect in that situation. I like the previous video showing the 5 minute warmup with the theragun before a round. If the theragun mini is anywhere near as good as the pro model this would be excellent for warming up prior to the round and staying loose throughout the round. That is what I’m most interested in testing.
As for the how, I would use it daily and report my findings in the thread. On days I go to the range or play golf I would use it before the round to warm up, during to stay loose, and after to recover. I may even alternate days between it and my g3pro to compare the 2. On of days I typically use my g3pro in the mornings and evenings and when needed throughout the day. I would switch to the mini as the primary unit and see how it compares. I also have been running with my daughter to get ready for some races that we are entering so this would also get used before and after runs. From what I’ve read and watched on this it did seem to fit an important role while playing and will happily put it through the paces / answer any questions / try out anything the forum members ask.
Combining weight training and golf has often resulted in certain pains that I am forced to play through. The areas of discomfort usually revolve around back, wrist and knee area. Playing 18 around twice a week, and often 9 in between would allow me a fair amount of time in which to try appropriately try out Theragun whilst giving adequate feedback. My reviews on the forum will be gauged around certain pain levels before and after use whilst also providing feedback on its ability to loosen muscles before tee off.
At first I thought I may be too old to try it but then realized that I may actually benefit from it at my age. I walk an average 2.5 miles just about everyday and I could use the Theragun for my calves and hamstrings. Both muscle groups that I use while golfing. Would be interesting to see how it works on the muscles during the hot days in Vegas.
I would use it and review it daily after my walks. I will even will use it during and after I play at a local course so I can compare the variety of uses.
Thanks for the opportunity to be a tester.
My entry…
As an aging golfer I’ve been intrigued to see what the Theragun can do for me – both before playing when my body is tight and my back is stiff as well as after playing when my muscles are cramping and I’m exhausted. The Theragun mini would be ideal for a pre-golf warmup routine, a quick at the turn booster, and an after round rehab. I’d be looking to see just how this device can help my range of motion. I would plan to provide not only my review of the device, but also practical examples and short videos on how I best determine the usage for each phase of my golfing round. Since I generally play multiple rounds and practice sessions per week I know I’ll have plenty of opportunity to provide real data and experiences using the Theragun mini!
Good luck everyone. I’m really hoping to be selected on this one, although I’m still pretty healthy, us old guys can always use a little help to stay that way. :drinks:
I want to test out the Theragun mini because I almost always have some random pain in my back or hip or knee and have been pondering one for a while but my skepticism won’t let me commit the money towards buying one. Last week my wife had a hurt back and I really wish we had one.
If I were chosen to participate in the testing, I’d add the device to my pre- and post-round routines. I always warm up before and stretch after playing to minimize the chance of injury and soreness. I’m not very flexible so it would be interesting to see if it helps me in that department at all. As I mentioned, I’d be testing to see if random aches heal faster thanks to a device like this and would report back on that experience as well.
Thanks for the opportunity!
I recently turned 40 years old and make it to the gym 4-5 days a week. I form roll, stretch, get massages and visit a chiropractor frequently and can never play golf without sore muscles. My hamstrings and lower back are constantly tight. This would be a fantastic device to use and give an honest opinion of the results.
I’d love to try this out. I have chronic elbow and knee pain that even with stretching and working out never fully goes away. I’d review this by trying it for a few weeks to see how it helps out.
I would like to try it on my lower back after a round. It’s not a chronic issue but it gets stiff enough after a long day of work or golf that some relief would be welcome without medicating.
I’ll review at a minimum of a weekly basis for at least one month. If I find that it doesn’t work for me, I’ll offer it up, in some form to anther THPer for them to use and review.
If it really works well, I’ll schedule some bestie time with @oumagic and we’ll get HIS lower back worked out while we work on bonding and doing each others hair. It could be the beginning of something special. ????
I would love to test this product out. For most of my adult life I have had neck, shoulder and back issues. When adding and additional activity like golf, running, lifting etc it only creates more issues not to mention being stuck behind a computer for over 40 hours a week, that also takes its toll. I have also tried so many different massagers out there but none have really blown me away. I would definitely use this thing daily and report on how I used it and what has been most effect for me.
Wow. What an opportunity. I would seriously Like the chance to test this out. At 63 and playing on average 3 times a week, couple with the fact I’m in the car all day. Lower back tightness is becoming the norm. The mini seems like it would be the perfect companion for my daily travels and before and after golf. I could review this giving brief updates as to any changes in back tightness on an almost daily basis. Possibly even throughout the day some days.

Yes, I would very much like to test a Theragun Mini. My elbow tendonitis is no joke, and have been thinking about one of these little percussive massagers for awhile now.
It has been so good for this. Seriously. It’s been my biggest issue, and 30 seconds on my forearm and triceps has helped a ton. It’s not instant relief, but doing it before bed makes me feel so much better in the morning.
I’ll be realistic and admit I’m really starting to feel my age these past couple of years. I feel I am in ok shape for 62 and can still get around a golf course pretty well but boy…recovery takes so much longer end it seems like every day there’s a new ache and pain somewhere on my body. I could really give the Theragun a real workout as I know I would use it multiple times a day in addition to some of the other recuperation items in my stable. As far as reporting back to the Forum it would be easy to give feedback daily because I know as part of my regular evening routine I would definitely use a gun to try to loosen up before I go to bed. I know when I woke up in the morning if I had relief from its magic. I would welcome the opportunity to be able to share my experiences with the Theragun. Thanks for the opportunity.
I’d like to be a tester. Have lower back pain that comes and goes. Not much has worked. I would be am honest reviewer. I walk while golfing, and go just about every day. I could use it frequently to give a thorough review. I am also a law enforcement officer. So the duty belt, and riding in a car most my shift doesnt do my back any favors.
I could review daily or weekly. As frequently as needed. Would love to try a product that could help me and eventually others with my review.
I would love to try out the Theragun mini because I’ve dealt, like a lot of people probably, with lower back stiffness and pain for several years. I’ve worked on stretching, proper warm up, etc., but it continues to be a lingering issue. Having the ability to help relieve that with the Theragun would be a welcome opportunity. I also think it would be helpful in reducing recovery time between practice and play, along with other daily activities, etc.
If I was named a tester, I would report daily, answer questions from other members about the device, and discuss with other testers. I would see how effective it is after playing or hitting the range, but also how helpful it is after riding the Peloton, which I usually do 4 to 5 times a week.
My wife also just purchased a Hyperice Hypervolt+, so I would also be able to compare the two to see if the mini is equally effective compared to the larger and more expensive Hypervolt+, which could lend some additional, and valuable, information to the testing.
I think i can give a great feedback reviewing the theragun Mini because in the last 3 years (I’m 40) I’ve been bothered by many injuries (calf strain and epicondylitis being the most annoying). I saw many doctors, did a number of different painful therapies, countless massage therapy and started going to the gym and that helped me gain a great understanding of my body, how it reacts after a workout or a round, how to recover, stretch, warmup and recognize when to sit and when to push.
Thanks to this experience i can monitor the daily changes in my body using the Theragun Mini compared to how it is now and describe on the forum how things are changing everyday.
I’ve been going to the gym 3 times a week since August of last year and i try to golf twice a week and it’s often a struggle to recover in time from the gym to perform on the golf course.
After a painful round in May i started to consider giving up golf, but a new physiotherapist i went to started treating my neck instead of the arm-hand-elbow and things started to change; now i can play almost pain-free, but i still need many days to recover before playing again, so i hope that the Theragun can help me play more and live better.
What a great review thread this is going to be!
I’ve been trying to decide which Theragun I’m going to get ever since the first post @JB made about the mini. I had a spinal fusion about 8-9 years ago that put me out of golf for a full year, and renovating a new (to me) house a couple years ago I messed up the discs above and below the fusion site. I pretty much live in pain constantly – the level varies from day to day. I do not want to have another fusion until it’s absolutely necessary. I go to PT regularly which has kept me functional. I live with huge knots around my scapulas that really don’t ever go away these days. In July I didn’t play for three weeks due to back pain, and I’m pretty sure this would’ve allowed me to play if I had one. I think the Theragun would truly be a lifesaver for me. I would use it multiple times daily, and even take it to work. I would be extremely active on THP with my thoughts, whatever they may be. I play 2-3 times per week, so can test it before, during, and after rounds. Thanks for the opportunity THP!
Well, having just turned 41 and had been in a serious vehicle accident 21 years ago, my body, mainly my back but my legs as well, has been through a lot. I would test the mini on my entire back after my stretching. I dont really work out, at all actually. Ha! I do stretch every morning because I’m old and my body is real tight when I wake up and starts to tighten up before bed. Also, use it on my wife who was a kick boxer and has spinal fusion surgery. To see if it helps her as well. So, i would be using the mini after a round and before and after sleep. Share how it has helped me feel. How my stretching has gotten greater and the overall ease of use for hard to hit areas.
Nice video.
I’m 60 years old. Not a day goes by that I couldn’t use this. After all there is only so much Advil one can take. Perfect for my son as well who is recovering from ACL surgery. Look forward to interacting with fellow THP’ers on the benefits of a Theragun mini.
These are awesome! I’m not entering as I have access to a Theragun already, good luck everyone.
I’d really like to try this device out. I’ve been walking more rounds this summer than I ever have, and have noticed as I get older, I’m often a little stiff and sore the next day. I’d review this on the forum by comparing how I feel after using it, to how I’ve felt prior (this entire summer) after rounds. I’d probably try using it both before a round to warm up a little, as well as directly after the round, and then see if that had any effects on both how I played during the round, but how my body felt after the round (immediately after, and the next day as well).
I would love to test this out. I’m mid-30s, so certainly not old, but have been tightening up after golf, a lot more than normal lately.
I’ve got young kids and a demanding work schedule, so I always feel rushed, including during warm ups and stretching. Based on the video, I would really like to incorporate the use of the mini into warm-ups before hitting two large buckets and post-range in order to reduce stiffness and improve how I feel.
Not only will I plan on reviewing the this before and during rounds, but I’d be open to taking questions and requests from THPers that are interested in seeing if it works for them or could solve their problems. Within reason, I will try and accommodate or try different things with it to see how well I feel it functions and then provide my feedback to the the forum.
Great stories here. Sharing the pain.
Went to the range last night for 1.5 hr. Felt like someone beat me up this morning. More of that lately. Time to do some aerobics and get some endorphins.
I would love the opportunity to use and review the Thera-gun mini. Since turning 45, all of the years of athletics and 25 years on the golf course, have taken their toll on my body. I find that my recovery from a good workout of even walking 18 holes is taking more than twice as long as before. I’ve tried everything from hot/cold baths, massage and yoga with little results — the end resumt being shorter, less intense workouts and more time off between rounds of golf.
My intention is to review the product after my long days at work, in the car, in the gym and on the course after rounds and practice sessions. I’m curious to know if it will help my recovery and also if it increases my athletic stamina. If it could do that, even a little bit, would be a game changer for me and allow me to play this great game into my 70’s-80’s.
Thank you for opportunity to review and share.
I’d love to try this out. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found that recovery from anything be it golf or other activities isn’t as fast as I’d like it to be & something like this device is definitely one of the options I’ve been looking at. I’ve also been recovering from some back issues and have a significant amount of tightness that I’m slowly working out.
Testing for me would be pre & post round use, as well as incorporation of this into me working on my upper back as I try to move past this for good. This would include feedback, progress updates and answering whatever questions I can.
I would love to test one of these out- I’ve seen them on a lot of workout and chiropractic videos. As an older golfer, I would be very interested to see how this improves my life which includes almost daily aches and pains.
I would be able to post just about daily in the forums, as well as on my golf social media. (golfindy.info, golflocal.info, golfthebay.info, etc.). I will be able to use it in a variety of conditions, as I am on my feet al day for work, running a lot on the weekends refereeing soccer and, of course, on the golf course.
This would be interesting to put into my golf and daily routine.
During the season for golf I’m usually right out of the car into my league matches with very short warm up time so this would do well with muscles and joints to get ready quickly for matches then also allow a nice relief for after matches to help with aches and pain. At home after work would again be a great relaxer of pain during the work day after rolling around and working on large machinery, My wife would love this also to help her with aches and pain of her knees and back problems she’s been having. Would review it on the Forum with photos and explanation of use and maybe this old man could do a video if I could figure it out our even hold it steady from shaking to show its use.
Thanks for the chance.
I want to try out the Theragun Mini because getting old sucks! Looking through the thread there are way too many of us that hurt. I’ll use the mini and share the honest results of pre round, post round, getting up, going to bed and just if it benefits the basic dragging my a$$ off the couch.

Great opportunity thanks!
As someone who has lower back issues, I’m currently using a cheaper alternative to help loosen my lower back daily. If chosen my plan would be to review it from not only how it helps me before/after rounds or range sessions, but also on how it helps my lower back after a long day of work.

Lower back pain sucks! I used to never get back pain while playing golf…?
I told the wife about this one, and she is rooting for me to make the list big time! (y)

Funnily enough so is mine, first time ever
This entire week as my body is sore I keep thinking about this device and that video doesn’t help! It seriously could be a game changer
My wife bought a new mattress without consulting me. Now every morning I wake up with sore hips.

You are singing my song, my friend. I turn 60 in December and it seems like some part of my body is always sore now. If I play two days in a row, I definitely feel it.
The first time I saw one of these was at my sports chiropractor in Phoenix. He’d use it primarily on my hamstrings and told me that mine were the tightest he’s ever seen in his practice. I have to say that I improved dramatically between stretches with the application of the Theragun on my hamstrings.
I stretch every day, use a foam roller and a hard roller on my back and legs. All I hope to be able to do is complete 18 holes before my back siezes up…
I also work from a home office where I tend to get into bad posture during the day; at the end of the day I’m stiff and sore and need to stretch again.
If I had the opportunity to use and review the Theragun Mini, I’d follow a prescribed regimen and be able to post a daily review on THP. I’d also provide both quantitative and qualitative feedback on the results I would experience. Thanks for the contest THP – this is a good one!
To be honest, I saw the post and thought I’d pass since I’m still relatively young and would let someone older than me get the opportunity to try out the product. But I was curious enough to watch the video and when I saw Collin as the spokesperson, I quickly realized I could very much still benefit from it. As someone who recently started a full time office job and is starting to see my body change (that’s sounds bad…) as I get older, I think, actually I know that the theragun would be perfect to keep me in playing shape the rest of my life. I would love to keep people updated on the day to day effects of using the theragun mini on and off the course. As someone who rarely stretches and warms up, I’m super excited to see the difference it makes! Thanks for the potential opportunity!
I’ve been dealing with back and knee pain the last few years, and have seen an improvement in how I feel after using a foam roller, stretching, and doing some strength training, but I still deal with soreness and pain. I make it a point to stretch everyday and try to get up and move while I work because I am at a desk 8 to 10 hours at a time.
In terms of testing, I would use it daily. Whether to help throughout the day at work or before a workout, I would use it even if I am not playing golf. Before playing or practicing, the Theragun would be used to help me get loose before swinging and in addition to my stretching. I try to stretch after my rounds. I have noticed my knees are sore when I walk and I think it’s due to hills at my course. I would definitely be using the theragun after those rounds to see if it can help minimize the pain.
oh man! Been checking these out since the beginning of the year and my lower back/hip went out. This thing could change my golfing life as my hips are crooked again (happens 3-4 times a year) and would love to try one out.
I am 50 now and Im curious if this could be a huge benefit for my neck and lower back at night and in the morning. I would love to see if it would help me out. I play golf at least once a week so I would love to see if it helps me post round on my neck especially
Alright,
I saw this post immediately and had a few initial thoughts… I’m too prideful, I’m too new to be selected, sob story blah blah – not my style….
But after reading the responses on here, I wanted to share my story. My golf partner told me it might help others even though I’m kinda the one asking for help in theory here. I’ll try to make it as brief as possible.
* 33 Y/O male
* 3 years ago thanksgiving, rear ended while at a dead stop by a new driver. Major neck and back damage.
* Lost my accomplished job due to this (traveled 24/7)
* No physical activity allowed for 2+ years, injections forced by insurance to keep my chiropractic care active, surgery continually denied yet their insistence in order to progress my case. So much of my problem became muscular due to extreme spasm that my chiro advised massage and treatment as the way to break through, but I could not afford the massage portion of treatment, insurance would require my payment upfront and they could potentially award me payment after. Since I lost my job I couldn’t do so.
* My chiropractor is amazing and I trust him to the fullest, he believed (which was confirmed by doctors when I went to my consultations) that the surgeries they wanted to perform would literally be useless in as little as 2 years due to my age and ability to regenerate. Essentially they wanted to sever nerves because they couldn’t fix the pain, so the solution would be to make it not possible to feel it and the nerves would regenerate, id need the procedure again. crazy to me.
* Continued to go to the chiropractor 3 times a week for treatment until they forced me to settle due to the refusal of surgeries. At this point my chiropractor told me I had one option.. Fight through it and recommended one of these machines. I started daily yoga and stretching programs – feared I lost golf for good though…
* Covid hits, lost job since March due to that, I decide the only thing that will keep me sane is golf and for the most part its going AMAZING. I make sure to stretch for about 30 mins – an hour before the course and another 20-30 before first tee. Its always a tight start but I get there pretty good. This motivation has gotten me to unload all the extra stuff I’ve collected over the years that isn’t a necessity and a buddy hooked me up with an amazing discount and let me redo my bag. This is the ONE item I feel I truly need that I cannot afford.
* Yesterday is the third time so far I’ve had a prebooked tee time with some friends, but could not shake the stiffness. If I didn’t force myself b/c I paid and I’m also determined to no longer suffer from this, I would’ve never played but I’m glad I did.. bad front 9, great back 9.
* I believe not only would one of these change my daily life as did my chiro, it would allow me to continually progress on getting golf back I my life consistently and let me truly continue to get the joy out of life its brought me throughout covid and a tough time, in the constant future.
*I can easily report back, I have 20K followers on instagram to help with exposure, and will play about 8-10 rounds in the 30 day period and all 30 days when I stretch.
Thanks for consideration and the opportunity, this is the exact type of device I need.
