sneaking out of work for golf

I do it quite often, just leave my cubicle and go play. I get my emails on my phone so if anything urgent comes up I'd be able to pack it up and come back. I haven't had to rush back yet, hope I didn't just jinx myself.

That's how my last job was, but the new one is a bit different, at least for now. After the training period, I'll have to schedule my golf time, but should still get plenty.

hack em well out there!

i normally play a quick 9 after work. But with the season change, it looks as if i'll just play on the weekends now.

I can get out pretty much whenever I want. But saying that I have only left early 3 afternoons this summer. Business is just crazy and I'm retiring in December and breaking in my replacements. Next summer I will be out the dorr wehen I want (or when the bride let's me?).

i would love to be able to leave work for a few holes but i don't think leaving a swimming pool unattended would be a good idea :bulgy-eyes:

I don't sneak out, but I may work through lunch and leave at 4 instead of 5 for our company summer golf league from time to time, and I sometimes take a PTO day (personal time off) to play a round somewhere in a tournament, etc. I have something like 30 PTO days per year and if I take one per month or so for a day of golf I still have plenty for sick days, vacations, and it helps me use them up before year end so I'm not scrambling to find ways to take 15 days over the month of December like a lot of us do in our office.

Ha, glad I'm not the only one! I just have to keep reminding myself to put on sunscreen diligently so I don't get back to work the next day all tanned or sunburnt.

Not passing judgement, but it would seem to me that for many jobs, sneaking out to play golf is essentially "stealing" from your employer. Of course, hanging out on internet forums all day at work might be considered the same.:bulgy-eyes:

One of the great things about the military is that there is always a course close by, and if you have good leadership they don't mind you taking off early every once in a while. Or the old "But I have an appointment off base" always works too

Does visiting THP for hours on end while at work count?

+1 but so my wife doesn't figure out exactly how much time I spend golfing :bicker:

I can't skip out on work, cause I'm sure that not being on the truck when the tone drops would end up with me being unemployed. But with my schedule who needs to skip out to play golf.

Although I did get my Chief to give 4 of us administrative leave to go play in an outing that was cancelled and moved to our duty day.

I leave early to play sometimes but I get off at 2pm so don't do it often cuz plenty of day left after my work day anyway.

At my old job my boss recomended I got out often, but the new boss is a micro manager and i rarely get out to play, I do however go to the range late in the afternoons a couple times a month.

I'm self employed so if I want to play I play. That being said I don't neglect business for golf, or THP, so when it's busy I work. And it's been busy. I do, however, neglect work, and THP, to watch my daughter play golf.

Yeah, when my son was younger I would go watch him play every match, work or no work, I miss that. I hope to become self employed next year and gain a little more freedom, I know I will be working crazy long days but I'm tired of making someone else wealthy.

This is tough for me as Yorkem is my boss! So if you guys ever read that I had to leave work early for "sickness" you now know I'm at the course

I pull the key out of the register, put the cordless phone in my pocket, and walk out onto our #9 green or our practice green which is close to the pro shop and practice (during slow times) until I get off at 1 or 2 pm. Then I jump on a cart and go play 18. It's a tough job but someone has to do it.

It's the only job I considered when I retired from my full-time job. I couldn't have planned it any better.

I do 40 hours, no matter the schedule. O/T is rarely authorized.
Therefore, if I just "have" to work late a night or two, I get off early another day to make up so I don't go over 40 for the week.
It's funny, but it always seems like I have something to do Tuesday and Wednesday. This makes it easy to get out at like 1:30 Thursday or Friday to play.

Can't really call it "sneaking out" but leaving late morning for a noonish tee time with a few friends.

Got to take separate cars as we will be playing close to Foxwoods Casino and a couple of the guys want to make a day/night out it it.:D
