How did you like Torrey Pines? I am likely heading out to SD in a few weeks, and I am thinking about getting onto the wait list. Worth trying? (I really don't want to drop another $40 just to reserve a tee time.)

I am on my annual trip to visit the in laws so I get my South Dakota golf fix in. We were in Brandon for a wedding and that's the first time I had played there, very nice course, not too long but challenging, just the way I like it.
 
No one would be very impressed by any place I've gone in my last ten except maybe Hawks country club. That was a great course, would love to play that one again now that the new nine is complete.

You need to find a San Diego city resident who will get you a time. It's incredibly cheap if you live within city limits as well.

I had some flashbacks after reading your list! I grew up in Hudson, Wisconsin and the Twin Cities and have played all of your MN courses numerous times except Stoneridge. I also logged 150 or more rounds at Veenker when I went to Iowa State in the mid '80's. Veenker is a favorite of mine.

Agree, after playing Brandon, it is my favorite course around here as well. Short like you said, but still challenging. Will be playing from the back tees tomorrow though, so I may have a different opinion.

I view it as a check in the box round. Nice course, better views but is it worth the price, not really. We had a conference and I was there with a bunch of guys who wanted to play so it was a go along to get along day.

Great track. Environmental areas all over the place. Not overly penal. But, if you spray it, you're gonna pay. Shouldn't hit driver on every par 4. At least one blind tee shot. Nice variations on par 3 distances (from backs: 172, 193, 229 and 133). Par 5's have a couple that are reachable in 2. And a 4th that is a double dogleg 3-shotter. Lots of variation in the par 4's as well. Variation is not so much in doglegs. But, more in how the hole is layed out in front of you. Most are straight with some elevation changes. There are a couple dogleg rights. There isn't a dogleg left. #17 is a driveable risk/reward hole.

Played it this year in a casual round. Also, played it 2x in '10 when TGA State Mid-Am Qaulifier was there.
