2014 THP Events---Where would you travel to?

Simple. Its not a knock on the area or the event that was had. It was a great time. However the attendance was made up largely of THPers that are not as active as other areas. Which is completely fine of course. So they most likely never saw this thread.

This thread has put a damper on my day

The western U.S. prognosis is looking pretty grim based on these survey results...which makes me sad. I might be able to make a trip back east for an event, particularly Philly/NJ area (as I have family there), but it would be a no brainer for me if there was one a little closer. Also sad that the response for this was low in general - you guys spend a ton of time putting together some great stuff for us members, bums me out that people couldn't give back 5 minutes of their time!

Glad to see that 3 of the top 4 are doable for me depending on the date. Wish there were more responses though.

This year we have Texas, Las Vegas and California (Grandaddy). Not bad as far as the west half of the US, but we would like to do more. However more importantly than that, we have to fill the events, so a lot of it will have to do with how many AC members we see in each area.

Sadly that is just not the case.

Which is fine. We host the events for people to have fun. If they choose to come back to the forum and interact, that is entirely up to each individual.

We have some major things in the works for 2014 and some pretty big changes to our events, but we might have to scale a few things back.

I am going to have to believe that there were a lot of people that just didn't see the thread or weren't aware how important the survey was to planning these events. I know there are a lot of people that aren't will to drive 16 hours or fly across country to participate in these events....but I think there are plenty of us that are.

One of the things I love about this place is how you and Morgan always strive to go bigger and better to make it the best possible place for all of the members, I would hate to see that change.

I think you might be right TBT. We dont expect people to fly across and because of that, went out and purchased the Tour Van to bring these events to their area. Usually when people experience one, they definitely want to attend more, because of how much fun they are so having a full plate of events in 2013, should assist with that.

Definitely understand that - I seriously thought about the Vegas event, but it's right after I move so the timing was tricky. I'm hoping that even if the western U.S. events don't work out for me next year, as with this year, I can get to whatever you have in the New Jersey/Philly area, and loop it in with visiting family.

Although, I'm still hoping that I'll be lucky enough to make the Grandaddy!

I think I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but for me, its just hard to say so far in advance. I didnt list out a city by city response, because the answers would all be the same. Theyd all be maybe, based on cost & timing. I've flown and driven to a few events before, so thats not the limiting factor for me. It all comes down to timing and cost of travel.

Just come to Atlanta. Remember -- we have doughnuts.

next time I'll put this in the banter thread to get more replies...just kidding.

Im thankful to those that took the time to provide the information. Hopefully when the time comes there will be enough support to sell out the venues that do end up hosting events. THP has some big things planned for 2014 and its our responsibility as members to help make sure they are a reality.

Heres the info again for those that missed it a few pages back

This is sad to hear, because 2014 is definitely my year to start being able to attend some of these THP events. I wish I had not wasted my vacation time this year on a honeymoon and saved some time for these awesome events. I am still trying to talk the wife into a great weekend in Myrtle at the end of July.

Dont say that buddy. THP events will be here in the future, but your honeymoon is something to cherish and remember. Enjoy that time and celebrate your marriage to the one you love.

I was just kidding, but I am looking forward to making some trips in 2014.

Oh I did enjoy the honeymoon. We went to Montego Bay and she let me play the White Witch.
Awesome course. :act-up:

I apologize for not responding earlier. I'm in Central California so the Yesses for me would be the west coast cities such as San Francisco or Phoenix.
(Or Monterey, Seattle, San Diego and maybe Denver.)

I certainly hope to make an event farther east such as Hilton Head or Orlando, but 2014 isn't in the cards for that.

I'm in the Las Vegas event and would consider that an annual trip if THP wants to do future ones there.

Baltimore is great, especially since i have a short leash

I'm with RadRob. Hitting Vegas this year and would be willing to make that or anything within similar driving distance an annual thing. Going beyond reasonable driving distance (i.e. flying to events) probably won't be in the cards for me for a few years, so I'm sad that the west coast contingent isn't more vocal with stuff like this.

I think some of us west coasters need to get our heads together and start doing some recruiting. Nor-Cal has been talking about getting together and I think we need to make it happen. Then hopefully other golfers see what a good time we have connecting with each other and we can spread the THP gospel and get it going out here.

I too am surprised and can't blame JB and MD for being a little disappointed in the lack of responses received. I've only been here a short time but am certainly thankful for all that is done and the crazy amounts of time and energy that must be put into these events, much less the community as a whole. Yes, it's just a survey, but its basically a blank canvas they are giving us and looking for our input to place those stops on next years map. Hopefully, this will provide a kick in the pants for any planning and brainstorming threads to follow.

With that said, I'm really liking the fact that I'm in for 2-5 and a solid possibility for number 1. If we need to fill the schedule, 12 events in Charlotte could take care of that.

I've only been here a short time, also, and hate that I missed the survey thread. I wonder if a lot of people just didn't see it? Would an e-mail survey be a reliable indicator, possibly, or is it just hard for people to lock in the time 6 - 12 months out, I wonder?

I'll list my responses below for informational purposes in case it's helpful.

The folks around DFW get together pretty regular & the ones I've been able to make have been some of my favorite rounds. THP is full of great folks.

Between Cali, AZ and Utah we should be able to start getting some things going.

I'm going to be honest here....I missed this thread too and I'm on here more than a lot of DFW'ers (and they let me know that yesterday at the outing!) I could have sworn that many of us answered this question in a similar thread that Mike Dean posted up before. I wouldn't hold it against people because they didn't respond to this thread that people in the DFW area don't want another outing. Heck, like I pointed out....I missed it! In the end I know JB and Morgan have to do what's in the best interest of THP and themselves but I think it would crush a lot of people if you guys didn't come back to the Texas area. If you could have seen the excitement in everyone after we played Winstar yesterday of the idea of a new course that we could toss in the hat if THP came back to this area. It was all over everyone's faces. A lot of the DFW'ers aren't every day forum guys like myself and Cookie, but it doesn't mean that they don't want THP back.

I am on here all the time. Just ask my family or coworkers, I just don't comment all the time. I believe a lot of the DFW people are the same way. We get together and talk about what's going on in THP quite regularly. We are always wanting to get together for a round together. This is becoming a very good group in this area and I can see it's growing too, because almost every time we get together we seem to have a new folks show up.
The interest in an event in DFW is not diminishing at all, but is actually growing in this area. Nate is right in saying that this weekend was a great example. We were all sitting in the bar having a bite before our second 18 and discussing the viability of bringing a DFW event to this course and all the benefits that it had for everyone. The excitement was very high for the possibility of THP having the next Texas Invitational, actually in Oklahoma. Winstar casino to be exact. I believe the poll might have missed quite a few eyes or thought is was just a sampling to see what other locals might interest folks. I certainly did not think that it was how next year's outings were going to be planned. But I do believe that there were a number of local DFW members that did respond in the other thread, and we're very excited to see another event here locally.
