The Dirty Jerz
Courtesy of THP and TaylorMade I had a Tour Preferred Iron fitting done today at the TMPL at Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth, NJ. To date, this was the best golfing experience of my life. I learned so much in a short period of time. Here are some pictures I wanted to share with you guys then I will get into the experience:
Bags from the guys that have visited. They are waiting on the Sergio bag. He was there to do some stuff for the new ATV wedges a few weeks ago:
Had to take a picture of the vault door to the fitting room. Just too cool:
Corey Brigham is the Master Fitter there and the guy that I worked with:
This is his Japanese putter. Such a nice roll:
These cameras are placed all around the room:
My baseline set of swings with my Rocketbladez:
The club building room. If you have a full fitting done, they will actually build your driver and putter for you while you wait. Pretty neat touch:
As I was leaving Corey through this swag to me. Pretty awesome.
Printout that I was given:
Upon arriving I met Corey Brigham. Corey is an extremely knowledgeable person but is able to convey things in a way that are easy to understand. We took some warmup swings, talked about THP a bit and then got to work. I took a series of swings with my Rocketbladez to get a baseline. Based on the numbers we/he determined I needed to go 2 degrees flat. I have always played everything stock so this was pretty exciting for me. Next we looked at the different shaft options. We settled on KBS Tour 90R, Aerotech R flex, and Nippon N95R shafts. Let me just say that Corey had a few small pointers like ball position and grip position before we got to this and I cant even tell you the difference it made. You can see the numbers above, they were very good. So after some minor tweaks, we went to work with the Nippon N95's. I have never in my entire life consistently hit a straight to baby draw. I have always had a pretty considerable fade. If you look at the picture above, that picture is with the Nippons. Such tight dispersion and ball flight. I was quite shocked but kept an open mind. We then went to the Aerotechs. I liked them but like I have become accustomed, a pretty decent sized fade. Then we went on to the KBS Tour 90's. Going in, I figured I would end up with these. Of the 3 shafts, these performed the worst for me. Distance loss as well as a pretty decent size fade.
The fitting was supposed to take about 35-45 minutes and I ended up being there for close to 2 hours. I learned more in that 1 session about my swing and about different shaft characteristics and how they effect my swing, than I have learned in my entire life. I cannot thank TaylorMade, THP, and Corey enough for the experience.
