So after a day and a half of eating nothing but bananas and mashed potatoes, I decided to be a rebel and eat some pineapple. And...the temporary crown put in Monday fell out. With the storm coming I wont be able to get back there until Wednesday. Hooray!

Dude that sounds awful... I am sorry to hear that buddy.

See? Pineapple is never worth it!

I honestly might hire someone to come in an refinish my hardwood floors, I polished them and they are dangerous!

You mean bust ya arse type dangerous? :bulgy-eyes:

Nate, That's nothing! I cant wear socks, taking your shoes off on the mat is useless, the mat slips on the floor, its horrible!

I can not for the life of me figure how why people are driving around Atlanta today after what happened a couple of weeks ago. Multiple crashes and injuries are going on now. :confused2: I can see the emergency personel trying to get to work such as doctors/nurses, police, and DOT but nobody else should have their arse on the roads. The National Guard was activated to help those who are deemed essential and they pick them up with the humvees and such. Why fricking drive and put yourselves and others in danger.

Can you say 'lemmings'. Plus, some bosses are stupid enough to require people to come into work!!!!! You wouldn't catch me out in those conditions!

So I have been a little MIA from THP but last week I lost a great friend suddenly and extremely unexpectedly. She was only 32 and a mother of 3 with one less than 2 weeks old. Without going into too many of the details the whole situation hit hard for both my wife and I. I have a GREAT group of friends all from high school that I am extremely close to and we all have helped each other deal with our loss. It sucks that such a horrible event makes you appreciate everything that you have. I have thought about all of the little things that we deal with on a day to day basis and how they really don't matter when you think about the big picture.

I feel a sense of closure after the wake and funeral but also pain because I know that I will miss my friend so much.

Really sorry to hear Crest. Thoughts going out to you, your family, and your friend's children and family.

That's so sad Crest. I'm sorry for your loss.

That's terrible. Always tough for someone so young to be taken away so early.

Crest..my condolences. It's terrible to lose any friend, let alone one that young.

My rant for today is...

I thought my fitting was scheduled today. I drove the 45 mins walked in and looked around at some new clubs and sale items. I then proceed to the desk and said, "I'm ready for my fitting." Guess what...it isn't scheduled until tomorrow. Go figure.

My Condolences Crest.

Throw putter in the vice to strip the old grip off, and clean off the tape. Walk out of the room to hear a dull thump, then a clang... as the putter falls out of the vice, bounces off the foam flooring and clangs the head on the cement...

Crest, that's just so sad to hear. I can't even imagine. My condolences.

I was going to complain about some nerve damage that's driving my mouth crazy, but after reading that I'm going to go hug my wife & kids.

Sorry for your loss Jesse, T&P's to your friends and family!

I just got a message from Fort Bragg that said that unless further guidance is issued, Civilians report to work at 11 tomorrow, Soldiers at 1.

So I called the XVIII ABN Corp Officer of the day and asked him if they were expecting a miraculous heat wave early tomorrow morning. He said "No Sir" kind of confused. So I asked.. Then you must be expecting a shipment of about 200 salt trucks with plows around midnight tonight? Again, "No Sir". Son, where do you live? On Post Housing. Have you left Ft. Bragg at all today? No Sir. What if I were to tell you that just outside of Fayetteville, where many of your Soldiers live with their families has about 7 inches of snow and already an inch of ice on top of it? And what if I further told you that there are 2 plow trucks for Robeson County and they are doing everything that they can to simply keep I95 and I74 fairly clear? No other roads in the county has been touched.

The freezing rain isn't going to end until around noon tomorrow, an hour after we are supposed to be in and an hour before the Soldiers will be on the road. Sir, do we still make Soldiers wear reflective belts quite often for safety while working on the side of the road, mowing grass, running down the street, etc? Do we still do risk assessments on everything that we do and have to show justification signed by 2 commands up if we are going to be operating in high risk? Yes Sir, we do. Do we stand in front of Soldiers every Friday and give them a lengthy safety briefing on what to do and not to do to stay safe and out of trouble. Things they've heard every Friday since they've been in the Army, but we must say it because if something happens, they were briefed? Yes sir.

So with all of this talk on how much we care about safety in the XVIII ABN, what are the chances that every Soldier on Ft. Bragg is going to find roads that have been treated, plowed or are otherwise ready to be driven on in order to arrive at work on time. Pretty Low. What are the chances that some Soldier is going to hit the ditch on the way to work tomorrow and do damage to his vehicle? Pretty high. So we've essentially made a 4 hour workday with high risk involved in getting there. If a Soldier has a minor accident because the roads are not capable of being driven on, will Ft. Bragg pick up his repair bill? Of Course Not. So he has to then deal with the wrecker, the insurance company, the repair shop..... all without a vehicle. Which means we lose another Soldier to escort him to these places, which will lead to more lost man-hours than simply leaving the Soldiers home tomorrow. 99% of them will do nothing but watch some kid shovel snow in preparation for their 4 day weekend that starts on Friday anyway.

So why are we telling Soldiers, knowing that there is going to be widespread power outages and roads that are solid sheets of ice to come into work tomorrow and give them all the exact same time to be here? What is the best possible circumstance of this Course of Action? Every Soldier makes it to work on pure luck with no incidents. What is the worst possible circumstance of this situation? Soldiers get seriously injured or killed trying to navigate the roads. Can the risk be mitigated without endangering the mission? Well, it depends on the mission. The mission is to get Soldiers into work to stay there 4 hours shoveling snow off of sidewalks and then release them all at the same time and send them home.

After this conversation, I was told that I would receive a phone call by the Commander's Aid long before any Soldiers or Civilians would have to be on the road. He said a decision would be made before 9AM in the morning. Even though they're calling for freezing rain until 1PM tomorrow. Sometimes I do not miss being in the Army. If I don't want to go in tomorrow because it's too dangerous, I will cancel my class until Tuesday and take the day off. Most, especially the Soldiers don't have that luxury.

I need let a simmering feeling go. I'm not a happy camper right now.
