I have to agree with Howzat. You guys do it right and are always bringing something new to the table. I love being able to see behind the curtain and see how things really work.

It's a good thing I'm not feeling up to going out tonight otherwise tomorrow morning would be terrible.
 
Just saw two cop cars pulled up behind a Jimmy John's delivery driver. Am I the only one that sees irony in this?

I am not looking forward to the first few days of this time change. I am looking forward to being able to hit the range after work again though.

Dude was probably stoned. Would be typical of most jimmy johns employees I've seen.
 
Tried to get a driver fitting today at Golf Galaxy and the guy told me I had to pick a club head to be fit for. Shouldn't I be able to hit any number of clubs to see what works? Couldn't believe that was the stipulation. How do I know I'll like the damn thing?

Seriously. If I'm paying $30 for a fitting you better let me hit as many head and shaft combos as I can physically manage to hit.
 
While its not the way I do it, a fitting is actually fitting a club to the person. In most cases, a retail store will offer at best a general fitting and basic fitting. For a full fitting (what you are speaking of), you will want to see a specialist.

Changing heads out numerous times and shafts out numerous times takes hours. Keep in mind that every head is a bit different so you trying one head with a few different shafts and then another, you would not just be able to choose the shafts you liked from the previous one to plug in there for similar results.

If your goal is to hit a bunch of different clubs, find a store that lets you demo products. Then choose the one you like head wise and ask to be fit. Or find a demo day in your area.

So just go grab a bunch of drivers, hit them on the monitors, find one that I like based on feel/distance/etc, and then get fit for that head? I can probably do that, the only issue I have is I hate not being able to see my ball flight on the sims at Golf Galaxy, for example.

Well if that is the case, none of it would have mattered anyway right?
In a general sense, (truly general) one can be fit into just about any club.
While one might fit you better than the others, as an amateur that might miss a time or two (we all do of course), it should be about minimizing the risk on those misses, while maximizing as much as possible on the good strikes.

Gotcha. Guess I'll just have to go see what feels best for me and then get a fitting. I'm really interested in an SLDR but I always seem to have terrible results on the course after great fitting experiences with TM clubs. Because I can't see the ball flight at the fitting, they always seem to go out and just kind of drop rather than continue carrying forward in the air once I hit the ball outdoors. Could just be my eyes, though.
 
When dealing with hardcore numbers, characteristics, etc I sometimes forget how mental this game is for millions of golfers. Reading things like "I love this ball and dislike this ball" is funny to me when the balls are nearly identical in every way. Im not discounting anybody's findings or feelings at all, just reminding myself how all the science/facts in the world dont matter in a person's mind. Its very interesting.
