2015 THP Events--Where and Why? Lets Discuss

Are there hotels nearby or is It middle of nowhere?

I'm like 99.9% sure the hotel is right in the casino and just need to say everyone wants the "poker rate" $50 a night.

If* big if* there's an event in the WNY/Central NY area you're coming. I don't care if I have to drive to come pick you up and drive you home lol.

That's a given dude. I am willing to drive. And Mike there is a hotel on site. It's a casino/resort type of deal.

You have no clue! I try not to think about it really lol I don't want to get my hopes up. Although I think there's some course in the Rochester area and I'm sure some in the Buffalo area that could hold an invitational style event, not sure anywhere other than Turning Stone that could hold a grander style.

Some great courses in the WNY area however I would have to agree the only one that could hold a grand event is turning stone.

The mix of the three courses there is outstanding. Obviously being a casino wouldn't appeal to all but the hotels are pretty nice as well.

Ah ok I know historically they try to gouge u in the casino hotels.

Resort plus a cheaper hotel across the street think it may be a holiday inn? Could be wrong on that. The resort itself is not far from Syracuse at all which obviously is not a big city but has some great spots to it.

While it's partially fueled by selfishness, I'd love to see Arizona get an event. So much great resort golf with tons of amenities, and fairly easy travel destinations. Starr Pass or La Paloma in Tucson both have 27 holes of top-quality golf courses attached to beautiful resorts. There's a Callaway Performance Center that's part of Troon North in Scottsdale that I can attest as being an outstanding facility and offers a rather alternative golf experience that is a lot of fun.

Also, it kinda goes without saying that Arizona enjoys some really nice weather during the winter months. A THP Desert Defrost in January or February would be a welcome excuse to get to some warmer climes for the otherwise snowbound.

Just did a quick check there's actually like 3 or 4 different options. "The Tower" "The Lodge" "The Inn" all different prices, but all right around the courses/casino.

Syracuse NY. Turning Stone Resort has three outstanding courses and the Casino.

Pinehurst area but the issue there is a bit of a drive to Raleigh which is probably the closest airport. It is however in a central driving location for the east coast.

The only downfall I see to this, is flying into Syracuse (not sure how hard/easy that is to do); and I'm not sure how many Albatross members we have in the area (whatever the area would be--am I in the area because I am 2 hours East? Or the western NY boys that are 3 hours west?). Otherwise, it's perfect.

I've never played, but I've only heard good things. All the courses have I believe (except for the one that the tour plays on) has free replays the same day. Everyone who's played there also says the cheaper of the 3 or 4 that are there is by far the nicest. The casino being right there makes entertainment aspect pretty awesome. Just makes a lot of sense (on paper)
1/2 price replays, not free. There are deals to be made there though. My golf league end of the year outing is 36 there in August and the guy who runs our league was able to get us a morning round on Atunyote (the fanciest one), so they will work with you.

There is a hotel at the Casino. The Casino also has a lodge nearby as well. There are 2 or 3 hotels (Fairfield and La Quinta off the top of my head) right outside the entrance to the casino that are cheaper options.

Yeah no doubt man it would be awesome. There's some nice courses up this way that I think I would be a nice fit. Guess it all depends on the amount of people willing to come up here haha

That's always the big question! I think we have a bunch of Albatross members in the area that would be willing to make that trip though. Then again that's just my selfishness coming out wanting to bring the Tour Van up here.

Knew it was only a matter of time till you shined some light on this subject. Thanks for the corrections buddy.

Syracuse is actually not bad to fly into at all easy in and out. When I lived in Binghamton I often flew out of Syracuse just because it was easier than the Binghamton airport.

Got it. Living in Albany, Syracuse was just never anything I looked into as it's about 2 hours, 20 minutes from me. And Newark is 2 hours door to door.

I've only been there once, to return a one-way rental, and it didn't appear all that big.

Also all these ideas I honestly don't care (in a good way) I will be trying my best to get to a handful events no matter the locations. I have been so impressed with the way THP runs things and the way the members are that I can't imagine not trying to make a few outings a year from here on out. I haven't even been to a Grand outing yet either (fingers crossed maybe one day)

Alright I will put out a bit of a longer list:
- Branson
- KC
- St. Louis
- Des Moines
- Chicago
- Las Vegas
- Scottsdale
I'd second this part of your list!
If I see 1 more KC so help me gawd.
Don't fight it Mike, you know you want to venture south into the southern midwest!
Just kidding keep the input coming

Houston, Washington DC/northern VA area, Kohler, WI...San Diego, Scottsdale, Austin

These are all fun spot with good golf and food. I'd like to tie in some good grub with some good golf. Or a diner, drive ins and dives invitational. Golf and then the triple d spot.

This boy likes to eat. I enjoy good grub. Point me in the direction of good Buffalo wings...

I'll chime in with the others who've mentioned Denver (hooray for direct flights!).

Phoenix, Minneapolis, Chicago, Madison & DesMoines have been mentioned and I'd pick them as well.

I just looked up the American Club's rates. N/m. $300 a night isn't conducive

I would need at least a 7800 yard course to make it playable dude.

#internetgolfer

That's called an executive course here in God's country.

Pinehurst, NC
Myrtle Beach, SC
Panama city or Pensacola, Fl
San Antonio or Austin TX
DFW TX

Turning stone would be great. Some awesome courses up there. Traveling probably isn't in the cards for me next year unless it's driving distance so I won't really add much here.
would love to see branson added so I can show ricky some ozarks hospitality :)

dont forget united has a non stop daily denver to springfield, MO.
I think we should visit each others cities for some golf :)
soon we will make it happen!

Not the easiest location to get to but for Midwest/OH stay & play - Longaberger & Eaglesticks near Zanesville

Knowing one is coming to the West, I'm really not picky. You guys have done a great job picking spots and I know you will again for next year. That said, there's been a lot of great suggestions I'm seeing from folks. I look forward to seeing what 2015 brings.
