Flight Simulation (PC)

Ok I got a little carried away with the dash 8 I had no business trying to fly that thing.

I bought the RealAir Turbine Duke V2 and this thing is a blast to fly.

Have made three successful IFR flights with live atc!!

This thing is really powerful. I really wanna buy a TBM 850 but my wife might kill me

It will all come with time and experience. When I went from a light twin to a king air and then to a jet. Each time I felt like I was sitting back in the tail just trying to catch up.

Cool. ? Could a person learn the basics of flying a real plane through these simulator programs?

A lot more than the basics this is the same software Boeing uses and I know other companies do as well.

Totally. Especially the higher end Sims like P3d that jrod is using. Now could you go straight from that to passing a private pilot checkride? No but it would give you lots of insights.

It beats sitting in a cubicle answering the phone 50 times a day. It sucks being away from home for days at a time.

I'm going to Havana Cuba tomorrow morning. So that is pretty cool.

It could help someone find out if they have what it takes to advance towards a pilot license. Very interesting for sure.

I'd give my left arm for time in an actual simulator.

I've brought friends before in for a sim session. After we are done our required training we get them to fly the sim for a bit. They are forever grateful. It's also fun for them to see all the emergency training procedures we do.

Flying Wedge nailed it. Cool gig but I'm away a fair bit. Also the fatigue we put our bodies through gets harder as we get older. Pilots have a life expectancy about 10 years less than average. Lots of back of the clock flying. Learning to manage that is huge. That for me is the hardest part of the job.

I still love it though. It's something I've worked hard to achieve and getting paid to do layovers in Hawaii and awesome destinations are great. Also managing a crew and an 80 million dollar aircraft doing 800 km/h+ with 170+ passengers is cool. The thing about flying is that outside of SOP's (standard operating procedures) every situation is unique from weather conditions, 100+ different airports we serve and different challenges presented throughout the flight. It challenges you and I take a massive amount of pride is doing a stellar job.

Professional flying is a lot like golf. You are continually working to improve and maintain your skills. Perhaps that's why I love both.
