Just when you start thinking life doesn't suck that much...

So today was my last day at my job. I quit to take another job. I get...not a call...but a text from my new boss saying he was sorry but he could not hire me now. I was supposed to start in 2 days. So in a nutshell I'm basically unemployed.

Then to top it off...I come home and my girlfriend, whom I have lived with for almost a year now, tells me "its just not working out with us and I would like it if you moved out"

I'm not really sure why I'm posting this on an internet forum but its midnight, my mind is starting to unravel and I really don't know what I'm going to do with my life right now. I am just in a complete state of shock...

Man dude... I went through much of the same stuff (all at the same time) about 2 months ago. I don't even know what to say.
I'll be thinking of you buddy- hold on and keep your head up as best you can.

Wow, sorry that you're going through so much China! I'm praying that your job situation settles quickly and you have a place to live right away.

thanks guys. It was just so damn unexpected. I mean...yesterday everything was fine. Thats what shocks me so much. I'm not much for believing in fate and all that jazz. But maybe its all happening for a reason. I have always wanted to move to the west coast...
 
China, ill def be praying that everything works out for you. Im really sorry to hear that stuff happened. Life has a crappy way of piling up all the worst crap at once but hidden in that mess is something better. I know its not helping to hear this now but it will get better for you. One chapter closes and another one will open. This forum is more a family so post away. Keep your head up as best you can.

Sorry for the bad news, but sounds like you are headed west. I would recommend TX or CO, maybe WA, ID or OR. Stay out of CA it is a mess and the politics make you shake your head daily.

Austin and Texas have an outstanding job market. What line of work are you in?

yeah CO would be really awesome. My last job and basically for the last 12 years has been in the custom electronics integration industry. High-end home theater, audio systems, automation, networking, etc

China, keep your head up and you will get through this. Take a day or two to get your head around the situation and make good decisions for your next move whatever that may be. I certainly wish you the best and hope you get a new job quickly.
 
geez china, i can't believe that "new" boss sent you a text to tell you your services aren't needed. that sucks, and i hope that all of this stuff is just a blessing in disguise, it usually is. hang in there bro!
 
Man, sorry to hear is, I'll be thinking about ya. But, Sunday_Hacker made a great point, stay smart. When I went through some bad stuff like that I made every dumb move I could make. It's tough, but use your brain the next few weeks, not your sleeve.

Hang in there man. It'll get better. Life has its ups and its downs. I'll be praying for you and keeping you in my thoughts.
 
Thanks everyone for the kind words. I know I won't be homeless and I have another job lead on the back burner. I'm a fighter. I just cant believe someone would hire you knowing you gave notice at your job then 2 days before you're supposed to start tells you they can't hire you now. But hey...it is what it is. Now the gf...that just blows my mind. I will never figure humans out...
 
hang in there and keep your head up. Like others have said this opens up a new chapter.
 
Once upon a time.... after supporting my girlfriend for 7 years as she went through university then being married for 1 while she went through an internship program, she got a job in Philadelphia (we lived in Canada). So we decided to move to Philadelphia since it was a great offer and I would try to find something. She went down there and I followed 3 months later- quitting my job, selling the house and the car and leaving everything behind.

You guessed it. When I got there she gave me the same line- its just not working out.

No job, no home, nothing. I was screwed big time. Desperate times.

My sister got me through that time- family helps a lot, and since then everything has been up hill.

So no matter how bad it seems, you CAN recover and you will probably look back at this as the start of good things. Like others have said, hang in there.
 
These are the things that make you stronger China. Stay positive and focused and good luck. I always tell myself it could be worse.
 
Brother I have been through the Vietnam war, more than one divorce, and losing just about everything I have every owned. Somehow if you have faith enough and hang in there things will get better! Heck I was given a Dear John letter in Nam..... I think things will get better once you land that job and meet that real someone who will take you and help mold you into the person you have always meant to be! You can do it!!! It's going to be hard!!!! But move where you need to live and find that happiness that will happen.... Damn it,,,,,, It will happen if you truly in your heart want it :eek:).....

And right now I think a funky new golf swing is causing a huge life problem.. Everyone who has this problem raise your hand ??????????
