SANDBAGGER!!!!!!!
I have not tried to throw any of the clubs in my bag so I am not sure how far I can toss them or how far the carry distance would be.

I have a follow up question: how ate those that get 10 yds of roll with their short irons, how are you doing that? My short irons hit and stop or back up.
I'm in the camp that distance absolutely gives on an advantage and can allow one's hcp to shrink. BUt more importantly, it's what you do with that distance. If you cannot control it, it will be a hindrance. If you can, you'll be hitting short irons and wedges a lot more. The fact is, any time you put a shorter club in your had, you see less lateral movement. Ultimately, I believe what makes one's hcp get lower is efficiency from 100 yards and in, but if you're constantly putting yourself close/around those distances due to your length off the tee then it's a massive advantage.
Here's my #'s. Driver ss avg 110mph/6iron ss avg 90 mph.
Driver: 260 carry avg.
3wood: 235 carry avg
5wood: 225 carry avg
4hybo: 205 carry avg
5iron: 190 carry avg
6iron: 175-180 carry avg
7iron: 165-170 carry avg
8iron: 155-160 carry avg
9iron: 135-140 carry avg
PW: 120-125 carry avg
50*: don't hit full shots. I can carry it anywhere from 60-115 yards.
56*: don't hit full shots. I can carry it anywhere from 5-80 yards.
All of my woods and irons (not wedges) have been on a vector so I have a pretty good idea what I can do with them.

One thing that I've been struggling with is why people think that distance and handicap don't directly correlate with one another. And I don't want to pick on anybody, but if you take some of the longer hitters that posted in this thread that are in the teens for handicap and give them less distance, chances are they are going to have an even higher handicap.
I think we all know that scoring happens from 100 yards and in. If you take 1 shot to get to within 100 yards versus taking 2 or 3 shots to get within 100 yards, your handicap will be lower with only taking 1 shot to get there. I also think we all know that hitting a 9 iron is generally a lot easier than hitting a 5 iron, so again I'm just struggling to see how being a longer hitter doesn't correlate with handicap.
Sorry for my rant.
Anways my handicap is right around 2 right now and here are my clubs for full swing yardages. I don't know the avg carry, etc. just the club I pull for these yardages given calm course conditions.
Driver - 285+
15* 3 Wood - 250-260
3i - 230-240
4i - 215-230
5i - 205-220
6i - 185-200
7i - 170-180
8i - 160-170
9i - 145-155
PW - 130-140
Anything under 130 is generally a combination of different clubs/swings. Generally, I don't use a full swing for my wedges.
The 10 yard gaps are due to gripping down and swinging easier to shorten distance. My 6-PW usually don't roll out very much after they land.

I think it could be due to several factors:
- length does not mean accuracy. How many of these guys carrying it 270 plus hit the FW more than 50% of the time
- 100 and in is pretty much all touch and technique IMO and truth be told, some long hitting amateurs just don't spend the time working on that short game
- perhaps some of the numbers we are seeing are exaggerated. Are we seeing averages posted or perfectly struck shots? There can be quite the gap there.
Well, here goes nothing

I know I'm a new golfer but man I must suck! I don't know yet what I'm getting out of all of my clubs but….
Driver 230
7i 135
9i 100
These numbers are very consistent and I work my other clubs around them.
Don't feel bad goodearth, I'm in the same boat as you. Here are the few numbers I'm sure about:
4h: ~195
7i: ~150
PW: ~100 (should be longer based on my 7i)
Fill in the blanks for the rest of my clubs. If the yardages could be believed at Black Mountain, I'm starting to get ~230-250 (with roll) out of my driver, but I am so inconsistent that every time I hit it it's like an unopened present ... I may be happy surprised, or horrified once it's unwrapped.
I've decided not to stress about my distances. Right now, as long as I can hit all of my clubs straight to the target I've picked out, I'm happy. Given enough lessons, the distance will come.
I hit those clubs pretty good, my biggest problem are the rescues etc. out on the fairway. Either topping the ball of hitting thick. One in 3 is good contact and distance.
