The Liv Golf Rumor and News Thread

Say the LIV calls JB and offers him a stack of cash for THP. JB and Mrs JB are over the moon and set for life. Boss LIV decides to add a porn page, full contact debates, foul language, trolls run free, and now a huge political forum. Post count triples, ad revenue triples, membership triples.

How do you feel about THP? It’s bigger and better, right? Exposing more people to golf, right?

It’s just a little dirty, but hey, a good business decision.
Bro... put it down and just step away.

The PGA Tour schedule has 48 events this year. LIV is currently less than a quarter of that. I think I’d miss the PGA Tour pretty quickly if they folded.
Agreed, but I would still watch majors, and I'm sure LPGA, Champions Tour, and KF Tour would get more air time. In time, I bet I would learn the unknown players names, and decide whom I like to follow just like I did when I first started watching PGAT golf.

What the hell is going on in here? Lets keep this to LIV and golf please

Unfortunately the champions tour and KFT would be gone. They are controlled and funded by the PGAT. Along with pga Latinoamerica, China, and Canada.

Local officials oppose LIV event in Oregon

AP report…”Saudi Arabia-backed LIV Golf is getting a chilly reception in Oregon, its first stop in the United States.”

  • “This coming week, the series, which is paying enormous signing fees for players such as Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson, descends on Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in tiny North Plains, nestled in the rolling hills west of Portland.”

  • “But the North Plains mayor, as well as officials from surrounding cities, has written the club's owner, Escalante Golf, with concerns. Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden is speaking out against the tournament, and some members of the pricy club also are uncomfortable with the situation.”

  • “Opponents point to Saudi Arabia's human rights abuses, including the murder of U.S.-based journalist Jamal Khashoggi. But in Oregon, there also is anger over the hit-and-run death of Fallon Smart in 2016. She was 15 when she was killed on a Portland street.”

  • “Saudi student Abdulrahman Sameer Noorah, who was in college in Oregon, was facing a trial on first-degree murder charges when he removed a tracking device and vanished. U.S. authorities believe the Saudi government helped arrange for a fake passport and provided a private jet for travel back to Saudi Arabia. The case was featured on "60 Minutes."

Wonder how the ticket sales are. I'd bet they aren't great.

Someone posted somewhere that they got tickets for free.

I will make a random assumption that there are going to be some tickets sold and a LOT given away for free. They need to make the stands look full because of perception - after they establish their base they will be able to begin charging more or at all for them. It's not like they care about the money aspect of it right now - you need to spend to make in the long run.

What doesn't get protested these days? Just another excuse for people to act like savages.

A protest?!?! In Portland!??!?! Well I never...

Yep getting some bad mojo from the people in Oregon. I would bet the PGA is behind this.
That is laughable. Oregon walks to a different drummer.

When LIV visits your area. You going? There's so much support here. I expect many will attend. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Yes, the PGA Tour does a lot to grow the game.

LIV grows the wallet of the more mature, oft-injured, don't know if I still have its, and mental golfers. I'd probably grab the money, too, if I were in their position. It's the profitable thing to do for yourself and your family. Not competitively but it's a lot of money.

No kidding. I remember when going to national training for one of the large accounting firms early in my career. You could always tell the people from Oregon from their questions and requestioning and requestioning.:ROFLMAO:

Well in that case, smaller, non publicized tours would get attention, and big sponsors - or LIV would expand. Thousands of pro golfers out there. They're not just going to stop playing if the PGA Tour were to disappear.

When the NHL had to deal with big money being thrown at top players to join an upstart league, in the end, the players won.

Just an observation. ;)

If they came to my city I would attend. All I get is a KFT every year. PGAT doesn't even sniff my city so ya I may be a bit salty.

I wonder if this has been confirmed. Basically all the “winnings” go against your upfront signing?

But would LIV expand? Not a given. They are ostensibly here for sports washing not growing the game.
