Wilson Staff C200 Irons Review Thread

You could let them hit yours. :D
The good news is Wilson will have a demo program available very soon.
I can't wait to give these a swing with that!

I like the sound of that.

We did talk about this with the president Tim Clarke. Told him they gotta make a strong push in the social media market and availability, especially for people north just over the border like RustyCasino

Doing my best! People just need to get these in their hands. By far the best set of clubs out there IMHO.

You're doing a great job as the unofficial International Ambassador. Now if your employer would just let you have some time at each of your destinations so you could offer demos...

Someone earlier in the thread from overseas (AU or NZ I think) posted that their set had an "s" wedge, presumably sand, but no "g" wedge. They also mentioned that the s wedge had no power holes.

It's possible that there are C200 sand wedges in other markets.

Yep I've got the C200 Sand Wedge right here - comes with the set in Australia (and also the UK, based on online advertising http://www.ladiesontour.com/latest-...ilson-staff-launches-new-crossover-c200-irons).

It is an amazing sand wedge - very easy to full-hit to about 100 yards for me. Previous sand wedges I've had a nasty habit of chunking on full shots.

Wish Wilson made the gap wedge available for Australia though - I've got a 30 yard gap between the PW and the S wedge! :bulgy-eyes:

Perhaps we can arrange a purchase and cross ship deal. Might get expensive though.

Shipping would be brutal I reckon - though maybe if there is enough interest Wilson might add the respective clubs to their local country distributor networks?

Its very strange that they've taken the time and effort to design a sand wedge and not made it available to the American market, and ditto with the huge yardage gap that the UK and Australian sets now have between PW and Sand.

Just saw and hit a 7i at the local Golfsmith at lunch. I have to say I was pleasantly suprised. First impression is they look really nice. Really didn't seem to much bigger than the Apex CF16 I had next to it. The black insert you can visibly see is noticeable up close, but at address it didn't bother me at all. It had a real nice feel to it and obviously hard to tell what was going on indoors, but really only think I didn't like was the grip on it.

I would do it.

Just got a call that my Golfsmith got the demo 7i in today. Headed over tomorrow hopefully on my lunch break to give it a hit.

These are expensive for Wilson irons. I really don't see the appeal they're not Pings or Titleist.

I think the appeal is the rave reviews (I know its quite alot to read through but these reviews have been very details and specific as to what these irons do) that have come through so far in a limited time. the $799/$899 price point for a set of irons really isnt expensive in the grand scheme of things since a set of Pings or Titleists will run you north of $900-$1000

Aren't they right in line with the rest of the Wilson lineup (C100, D200). Are you inferring that because it doesn't say Titleist or Ping on it, that the cost should be cheaper?

These things are fairly priced. Actually they are an amazing price point. Not sure why you need a different name on them to make them seem price worthy.

These are pretty much right in line with any GI iron out there. $100 cheaper than the AP1 and I series.

I'm not trashing BWilson's comment when I say, his comment could be a legitimate opinion of Wilson Staff by consumers. Obviously Wilson is working hard and being pretty damn successful working it's way back up the ladder of the golf industry, but I am sure when the general consumer goes to a golf retailer they would walk right past Wilson to check out the latest TM/Titleist/Callaway.

We are lucky to have access to a ton of golf news and information that the general golfer does not and this is why these clubs are so hyped right now on here.

Very good point. There are probably a lot of golfers out there that see "Wilson/Staff" but only think of the Reflex irons sold under the Wilson brand at DSG for $199. And that's a branding/availability issue we've talked about constantly here.

Hopefully those of us who have used and loved W/S products and talked about it online enough will help overcome that image.

Thanks for the post. I never really viewed Wilson as an elite manufacturer of quality, high end golf equipment but it looks like alot of excellent reviews. Only problem is when you go to Dicks all you see are Titleist, Ping, Call away and Taylor Made with some Cobra and Adams mixed in. I can't find a retailer or a place to demo Wilson's.

Wilson Staff heard us and definitely took notice of our point made when we said these same exact thing. And many of the other things others are saying can be improved we touched up on. Hopefully they make the move and answer everyone's call

I can fully understand why someone who does not follow THP or golf in depth, like alot of us, would say that these Wilson Staff clubs are expensive. Like the poster above said, the first initial reaction when you hear/see Wilson is box set.

Granted, THP involves you in alot more than the average weekend golfer.

Wilson is doing a lot of work to get that whole mental block of Wilson not putting out elite equipment out of every one's head.

Agreed. Good summary.

I've learned that big box store's like Dick's are no where near being a quality source for golf equipment/knowledge (ESPECIALLY in the past few years). There are so many brands and such great equipment that is out there that the general golf consumer does not know about. Look at Srixon and their HIGH quality irons that are not widely sold in stores or dozens of clothing manufacturers that aren't Under Armours or Nike. I've shed away from looking at a name brand since being on THP and it's seriously one of the best things I could have done.

These irons look like the real deal and if you check out the StaffProto event thread you will see how intense Wilson is with their golf division.

I really think the who Wilson "box set" vs Wilson Staff gear is the main hangup. It might almost be too big of a thing to get past, but hopefully Wilson Staff does so.

We've talked about W/S vs Wilson Walmart at length in the staffproto thread.

I think keeping the topic on the C200's is important for this thread. Find these. Go hit them. They will improve your game.

I look at it a lot like SLDR vs SLDR C.
Made for big box retailer, less expensive materials and cheaper.
I mean Titleist, Callaway and others all have products in those stores.
Two different lines, two different products. With that said, I dont think from a genuine golf consumer stand point it matters as much as people think.

Marketing is king and it needs to improve and I believe they have the people in place to do that. I guess time will tell.
