67. But for me the bigger achievement is shooting 75 on tournament day, when the score really counts. It's one thing to shoot 65 on a day with the buddies, it's another to break 80 in a field of 144 when you're playing against 50 guys in your class level.
To me, 5 under is 5 under. Even on an "easy" course you still had to be firing on all cylinders for that to happen. At any point, on any course you can blow up and double or triple a hole.
However, all three have their pros of why you could argue they're the "best" achievement.
Score always sticks, we always remember the 59s on the PGA tour, not where they were shot.67 for me, Id say 99% of golfers wouldnt remember the slope ratings years down the road when telling the story, but the score they will
True, but who cares what average people think?Same, no one has ever asked me the slope/rating. Average golfers/people only care/notice the score.
None of this makes sense for the argument I think you're trying to make.True, but who cares what average people think?
I'll take playing the best golf 10 times out of 10.
Think about it another way...which is better, saying you shot 2 under at your local muni, or saying you shot 2 under at the Pebble Beach?
Same, no one has ever asked me the slope/rating. Average golfers/people only care/notice the score.
#3 for me. Easy.
Which of these in your opinion is the best round? Should it be based on lowest score, lowest differential to par or lowest differential to course rating?
1 - Shooting a 70 on a Par 72 course rated 74.8/139 or
2 - Shooting a 68 on a Par 70 course rated 69.2/118 or
3 - Shooting a 67 on a Par 72 course rated 69.3/124
