Step 1: Post below and include the following information.
Who will win the match? To make things even, we will be giving up 9 strokes in match play.

What shaft is in your current driver?
What is your favorite UST Mamiya driver shaft?
Step 2: Follow along with this Live Update Thread and see if you were right and if you are the lucky winner. The updates will kick off below beginning with travel.

I hope I done you guys some Justice. Hard to play and keep the thread going. Didn’t have close to my B game. Still had a wonderful experience I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. An absolute gem of a place. @JB I hope you get well soon. @DannyLe and @GLG20 you guys were awesome and great to play with. Special thanks to Danny for all the tips along the way. The new driver is a weapon. I’ll work on the alignment and speed. Time to eat lunch and figure out the irons and wedges. The putting is a work in progress but much better today than yesterday. Time for a Pimento Grilled Cheese and some fries before a 5 hour trip home.

Thanks for taking us along! And have to say it again – that is some shaft you ended up with!!

Rumor has it, @hedley_lamarr08 hit his new driver incredibly well and pulled his old one a few times to make sure the trees on the right were paying attention. That’s brand commitment, because he needs to burn that thing with fire ? fire ?

Great playing today by all, it was a fun follow, Danny was unstoppable.
I was wondering for participants, how much discussion takes place with Danny before this event to help narrow down what shaft/head combos might be best? What kinds of information is provided beforehand to allow Danny to bring the shafts with him that he feels will be best?
I sent out some questions for the guys and had a couple of follow up emails to narrow it down as much as possible.

Now that you have service and the photos are coming in, all I can say is wow. That course is sooooo pure right now.
There is a peacefulness of Dormie Club that is unrivaled by nearly every place I have been. I’m saddened I couldn’t be a part of it, but I’m so happy that two THPers got to experience it.

The decision was made yesterday but I know without a doubt I gained major yards. Its sitting off to the side to be traded in on a putter already. ;):)
Over the weekend I will read this entire thread and replay to everything along with some closing thoughts. I also have something to give away. 😎

so just a little question.. the black eliminated anything right? is that what I’m gathering? Danny did the same thing with my fitting… haven’t lived on the right side since election day!
I knew I would enjoy the new driver but had no clue that it would change the tee box so much for me. I’ve always had to set up for a big 40 yard draw. Now i have to remind myself to set up square to target and just pound it. I tried the Ping afterwards… I needed to know it was exactly where I needed to be. I never would have guessed 8F5 Black to be the shaft much less at 44.5 inches. I gained a lot even at shorter lenght. I’ll recover any lost club head speed through mechanics. I can’t recommend the Lin-Q lineup enough. I can also say @GLG20 was a much different golfer off the tee after the fit.

Eliminated the left side of the course. I have a nice straight ball or slight fade on stock full swings. Carry is probably 20 yards more on flatter flight alone. Misses are now as good as my good shots with the other driver that is going to be traded tomorrow.
Best shafts in the business. [emoji6]

What DART shafts does @DannyLe have? How’d they stand up to your swing? I know you liked them but did you have to hold back any? Just curious since I haven’t been able to swing my DART 75F4 shafted 4i yet.

They held up well. Spin with his 7 iron was 6900 instead of 7800. No ballooning. Felt really nice.
If anyone is wondering where the team name “Misfits” came from: we both said yesterday that now we only feel like one club fits us and that’s the driver. Threw it in there for a laugh.

That’s impressive. I can’t wait until the weekend so I can test out my DART. The LinQ Black 6F4 has become more natural feeling and I’m still surprised how much extra I can give it.
Good stuff all!! Course looked just as nice as in the other pics and extremely happy that the drivers are on their way to being weapons!!!

I wanted to win. Of course. I am disappointed in todays showing considering yesterday was much better especially in the evening time. I am not mad or upset in any way. I had an absolute blast with 2 good dudes on a world class course, with world class facilities, had excellent meals, new driver custom fit for me to swing away, and a flat out great experience. @DannyLe was pure class all the way through. He started chirping at me early:) @GLG20 was a great partner and an excellent person to share the event with. Only regret from the trip couldn’t be helped is @JB getting sick. That sucked but nothing anyone could do about it. No way he or anyone goes to Dormie and avoids the golf course. A successful event would be putting it lightly
I’m catching up slowly… some comments about pictures. I tried. Areas of the course don’t have any real service. Didn’t want to try to load pictures out of order and still try to play while managing signal. Wasn’t intentional

Nah… he didn’t look like he was doing all that great. I didn’t need to be told he was sick to see it.:)
Shaft comments. I can’t say that it feels dramatically heavier than the Tensei Orange 65S. What I can tell even with just two days of play is that it is much more stable and easier for me to control. I can’t say I have much experience in trying a huge amount of shafts, but I hit 3-5 different combos and this one just stood out. I love the 44.5 inch build with the midsize grip. @DannyLe may be able to speak more on the others we tried and how he settled into this combo. Whatever it is, IT WORKS>

And to make note of how this happened once. I was very conscious about making sure I had the correct club. One hole I did pull the Ping on complete accident. Would never behave this way intentionally. It’s the only time it was used and I was mortified when I showed @GLG20 when I got back to the cart. I was embarrassed and sick at my stomach for a bit over being such a dumb@$$. The results confirmed the fitting that’s for sure.

So sudden and quiet. Timed perfectly. @DannyLe new just when he needed it. When I’d slowly start finding a swing he got to me just enough to stop it. Well played sir. Well played.

My old gamer was a Cobra Speedzone 9* with a 44.5″ Hzrdus Smoke Yellow 60 stiff.
My miss was a push fade, or in some cases, full blown slice. As @DannyLe pointed out, I tend to not use my lower body enough to get through the ball.

Thanks – I think it’s cool how one of you missed right and the other missed left and @DannyLe was able to fix both with the right shaft.
My main miss has almost always been snap hook left – yet they kept putting in lighter and lighter shafts – making it worse.
I started reading more (THP) listened to a few others and tried a R flex heavier shaft, that helped, then took a flier on a heavier (for me) S flex – on a deeper faced driver – and boom almost all lefts are off the table – it’s so nice to aim center and not fear a hook/snaphook.
I still need to work on it – but flex and weight definitely matter – way more (in my humble opinion) than just making the club lighter and lighter for faster swing speeds – and wilder shots!
Home course today. Second hole 340 yard par for up hill. I’m 20 yards short of the green! Never been there before!
3rd hole is up hill 395 yards. Dry with no wind. 124 out.
