A few months ago, a buzz worthy release in the golf ball segment came in the form of the Srixon Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE. Two color golf balls that were split down the middle, with half of the ball being red and the other half being yellow.
Srixon was not the first to ever split a ball by color, PING had done so decades ago, however never with a premium golf ball featuring a urethane cover. It has been years since the look has been seen in the marketplace and they came back with a bang! The matte finish Srixon DIVIDE immediately began selling out at retail stores we spoke to and members of the THP Forum were stuck waiting for a replenishment of stock and hearing some news about new colors.
In what might have been the worst kept release secret of the year so far, today Srixon is releasing two new colors of the popular Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE golf balls. What started with the red and yellow, now adds a blue and yellow and orange and yellow to the mix.
An important note is that the Srixon Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE is not merely painted, but color done right. Until recently, matte color and premium covers didn’t mix all that well and gave way to some durability issues. If you saw a urethane golf ball with colorful matte finish, odds are it was painted. Srixon, and specifically the DIVIDE golf ball, is different. The company has infused the cover material with bright pigments so the color is not just on the surface. In simple terms, you can’t scratch the color off of the cover, because the color is the cover.
The tech has not changed. The Srixon Q-STAR TOUR is still the multiple layer urethane covered ball it has been. The FastLayer Core gives way to a mid-layer designed to enhance speed. The color divided (see what we did there) urethane cover features a 338 dimple design pattern that cuts drag for aerodynamics. Colorful, fun and the green side spin one expects from a golf ball in this class.
If you are unfamiliar with the Q-STAR TOUR, it is a softer feeling golf ball that features a mid to high launch with high levels of green side spin, while offering low spin off the tee. It has been a popular choice on the THP Forum for the tech built into it at a price that is easier to handle coming in at $32.99.
The Details
In Stores: June 28th Yellow/Blue and July 30th Yellow/Orange
Cost: $32.99

I know you can go down the gender/color stereotype rabbit holes…. but man, my daughter who is six and flirting with the game would love a pink/lavender color…
I only noted that because she said it. I wanted to try them for fun, and they play great for me. Seeing them play well for her was a bonus. That she indicated a preference for any ball was kinda neat too (since it never happened before). If they don’t start producing a ton of color options then, in my opinion they are missing a gigantic opportunity – heck if I worked for them, I’d be looking to license with every major sport and brand the balls with the team logo and colors – even if they are not easily findable in less than ideal places (rough). Sort of what volvik has done with Marvel.
I guarantee these balls will show you something you did not know about your game.

Two colors.
So, when the original color came out, I could not find them in any pro shop – but I play munis they are likely the last place to get new/good/fun stuff.
We went to GG/Dick’s new combo store now in a mall anchor position – strangely enough, to look at things as I think it was just after my birthday or maybe a couple weeks before father’s day – I wanted to kill a bit of time. All I did was want to see the ball, but first I tried on some shoes, I ended up buying a pair (on line as GG did not have my proper size). My wife and daughter caught up to me with stuff for me (yay!), so on the way to the cashier, it was stop by the ball section, my daughter ran over to the original orange red, grabbed a box said Dad these are cool – and I said they were ones I wanted to sample. So that was that. Enjoyed them and with the 3 for 2 we bought from Academy Sports (I think it’s called – as they claimed to have the blue – only place I found that had them). That’s the story.
We used them for our par 3 scramble and all was great, we will use them again for the July 4 scramble (weather permitting!).
While I like the Q-Star in solid yellow, I despise the multi-colored balls by any company.
If I wanted to play with a beach ball, I would go to the beach with my nephews and nieces.
That being said, I hold no ill will for anyone who wants to play these. Happy Monday !

The color combo’s are really nicely done.
Which is fine because I got 3 for the price of 2.
Off the tee you can’t tell after it goes flying, so I have no issue there. Seems a bit easier to find as well, so that’s always a plus. Golf is fun, and these are fun.
I’ve seen these in the wild playing with @Doubleb21 . I think these should come with a warning if anyone in the group suffers from epilepsy. The first few times watching these in the air is crazy.
I love my yellow/reds and will try the yellow/oranges if I happen to see a box around here.
I still wonder why Blue? Why Not Pink??? It seems like such a simple Idea and open up the Ladies market as well.
I really like this ball. It is soft enough but I still get some spin.
Try one you will like it but they are different than the Reg Q star. These are the Tours. I found the regular Qstar not too my liking but I love these.
Thanks for clarifying and, even better, the Q-Star Tour is my go to when I’m out of my regular Z-Stars.
