Off Course is back this week with a fantastic show. Hosted by Dan Edwards, each Friday he gives you a deep look into the world of golf and equipment in a way unlike any other podcast has done before. Today Squiggy DiGiacomo, the Founder of Amplified Golf, joins the conversation to discuss launching the brand.
It wouldn’t be Off Course without some tangents, but Dan and Squiggy talk about bringing Amplified Golf to market. Starting with Fender Golf and the first batch of products associated with the official license. This show has a lot going on and is one you will not want to miss as Squiggy DiGiacomo goes Off Course.
Episode 132 is here and Dan and Squiggy discuss the following topics.
The Birth of Amplified Golf
Staying Authentic with Music
Working to Create Fender Golf
The First Covers
And so much more
If you want to check out their new website and see all of the goods from the Fender Golf launch, head to www.amplifiedgolf.com.
You can listen to the show right here, Apple Podcasts or of anywhere you do your listening and downloading from. Search for the Hackers Paradise and make sure to subscribe so you never miss an episode. Squiggy is that a family name? Will listen now to find out!
Listening now. This almost feels like somebody is playing a trick on me. Somehow a person managed to create a company that marries my two biggest extracurricular passions.
The hybrids sound amazing to see.
Dan:
You had me at marrying bourbon.
I love the looks of the headcovers. I think it would be really easy to mess this up, but as somebody that has a Fender fetish… wow.
He mentioned this so quickly I almost missed it, but special runs in classic Fender colors is such a great idea. People will spend thousands of dollars on the exact same guitar just because it gets released in a certain color.
Squiggy, if you’re reading: Candy Apple Red please :drinks: Maybe Sonic or Lake Placid Blue too.

Feel like this would be right up his alley.
Loved the episode. Enjoy hearing the passion for the game he has.
Early comments ob this one has me excited
I know I talked about this one previously on the worst golf podcast this week. But the passion is there.

I know it, but my curse is that I play a CS mallet and you can never get cool covers for those 🙁
What NO Gibson head covers :sneaky:, or are they coming
Loving the episode. Love hearing other’s takes on golf. I’d love to have a bourbon or two with Squiggy! Headcovers look dope.

They aren’t the most engaging company, so I’d be surprised. Never know though I suppose.
@billyh Dan’s guest loves the hunt at Goodwill.
Never thought I’d hear some Steel Panther chatter on Off Course, but here we are!
Very cool concept and vision, hopefully they branch out to other instrument brands. Let me tell you – a Ludwig line with some of their classic drum wraps like White Satin Flame and Blue Oyster Pearl would be SICK.

i couldn’t find barrel guitars. does anyone have a link to that site? a family friend of mine would love something like that.

For those that skipped WGP, this is from Amplified Golf and @Canadan discussed it on his show.

This is a cool merging of 2 passions. Hard for me to understand what kind of market there is for this – but I guess we’ll find out.
I’m not much of a music aficionado, but this is a really cool backstory.
fun listen. Golf is a great melting pot and equalizer.
Totally want an enter sand wedge shirt.
I love love the “The ball doesn’t care” line.

seriously, all of his “joke” shirts sounded amazing hahaha
There is such an interesting dichotomy between golf equipment enthusiasts and gear heads. Companies are really lucky, because both tend to have a lot of disposable income. A guitar marketplace I belong to shows people dropping $3-5k on guitars like it’s nothing. However, the industries are almost opposite in how they produce goods.
Golfers almost universally expect advances in technology every year, while guitar players overwhelmingly want their products to be as close to what was being produced in the 1950’s and 1960’s as possible. It’s almost to the point that large music brands can lose multiple years of consumer loyalty just by adding an unwanted modern element to their product line.
As for the crossover market, I don’t think it’s going to be huge, but I bet it’s bigger and spans more age groups than most people think.

While i’m Nashville the amount of music crossover into golf was staggering, so I definitely agree that it is bigger than some think.

I think if you looked at Fender’s sales demographics, I bet it would look very similar to any major golf company’s in terms of age and income bracket.
Interestingly as well, the pandemic also blew up the music equipment industry. It was another thing people could do and spend money on.
Great show!
Looking around the website…some really cool stuff.
And yes. I also want some of those shirts. ??
I would like to know if he likes to play vintage guitars rather than new guitars.
Thank you everyone for the kind words. I had such a great time talking music and golf with Dan. I’m so excited to get to know everyone. Feel free to hit me up anytime.
That was a fun lesson on the drive into work today. It’s really interesting to hear how big golf is in the metal world. Putting greens and hitting nets all over backstage at a festival! Who knew?

Welcome! Love what you’re doing here and wish you luck with the venture.
When do you anticipate some of limited release colors coming out?

We are hoping early next year. I’m interested in what Fender colors everyone thinks would be cool. We are thinking SeaFoam Green, Lake Placid Blue, Crimson Red maybe even two tone sunburst. I’d love feedback.

I think people will love Seafoam. Personally, I’d love Candy Apple Red and/or Lake Placid Blue.

Like a cherry sunburst would be sweet
This has been a great episode so far! hearing about companies and people that I know nothing about is why I love this podcast!
Another great listen. This one flew by. Golf is really just one big melting pot. Interesting to hear the balance of two extremes. That got me thinking a little this morning before work.
Wasn’t seafoam or seafoam green supposed to be the color of 2023 or 2024? I think it was mentioned on one of the golf bag topic podcasts.

Awesome stuff man! Stories and stories for days. Love it! Looking forward to getting my hands on a few of these. And you had me at Lake Placid Blue Limited Release as well. My favorite Fender color by far!

I’m somebody who likes technology when it makes sense. I love seeing new guitars and especially the boundaries that are being pushed with new finishes. Companies like Fender are doing amazing new reissue guitars that are relic’d and made to spec. With that being said, there is nothing like seeing a guitar that was once white but now yellow from decades of dive bars, cigarette smoke, highway miles and a few pawn shops.
Cool concept and the headcovers are pretty sick. Not a huge guitar guy but appreciate the designs

Yep! Guys like Colt Ford, Darius, Brantley Gilbert, JellyRoll, Jake Owen, Eric Church& Thomas’s Rhett do a pretty good job at Keeping Golf Country.
Man, that was a great listen. You could just hear the passino between @KeepGolfSquiggy and @Canadan about this crazy game we all love.
And another vote for someone who would get into those shirts!

After listening to @KeepGolfSquiggy and @Canadan yesterday morning I was amped up to do something but couldn’t cause I was at work.
Felt like I needed to listen to hard rock on golf course, drink a high ball or 2 and just go enjoy the golf course after I shopped at Goodwill looking for polyester pants!
