RevCore Cart Bag Review

RevCore Cart Bag

It wouldn’t take much time searching to realize we have a bit of a love affair with CaddyDaddy at THP. Though relatively small, the company continues to make impactful, smart products that are built to last. Better yet, on the off chance you run into a problem, there are plenty of testimonials about their excellent customer service. The company began thanks to one man’s desire to keep beer cold on the golf course. How can you not get behind that?

An observer would probably say that CaddyDaddy’s biggest focus is centered around travel covers, but they’ve diversified their product line substantially over the years. From the new First Class Duffel Carry On to the popular Claw glove brand, the company has found ways to do the small things better, resulting in products that not only outperform many others, but also remain affordable. In 2023, we got hints that the company was looking to enter the golf bag market, and they eventually launched the RevCore brand in December. With an initial cart bag offering, and an upcoming stand bag designed with the help our readers’ feedback, we had high expectations.

RevCore Cart Bag

CaddyDaddy is based in Arizona, and with the conditions and layouts favoring the riding (or sometimes pushing) golfer, it made the most sense to drop a cart bag for the initial RevCore launch. Rod Dunlap, co-owner, noted that his team of self-admitted pack rats wanted to build a bag based on their needs and experiences. Therefore, the RevCore cart bag features 14 full-length dividers, is packed with storage capacity, is designed around convenience, and is built like a tank with high-end materials. Though priced below some of the luxury brands we see in the bag space, it’s positioned as a direct competitor to them.

Our first impression upon pulling the RevCore bag from its shipping box was, “this looks like a miniature staff bag.” That early evaluation hasn’t really changed over time, though the word “miniature” probably doesn’t capture reality. The RevCore bag is smaller than a staff bag, but not by much. In addition, it’s got a much more functional layout.

Starting at the 14-way top, the first thing that stood out was the soft, plush velvet material surrounding all the openings. Aside from looking great, it offered exceptional protection to graphite shafts. The oversized putter well was nicely positioned and designed to accommodate a variety of putter shapes and lengths comfortably. While it officially has a 14-way top, the RevCore bag can almost be considered a 15-way bag functionally, as the opening nearest the putter well is double sized. One could easily drop two wedges into this slot and utilize one of the other openings for an extra club, training aid, alignment sticks, or even a ball retriever.

Small details that provide a luxury feel and utility abound on the RevCore cart bag. The color was uniform and even across the entire bag, with the deep black contrasting nicely with the gray piping and zippers. Currently, there are only two color options available (black and navy), though we selfishly hope for a white version eventually. What can we say? We are gluttons for punishment and don’t mind pulling out the Magic Eraser every now and then.

The synthetic leather material is supple feeling to the touch while doing its duty as a sturdy exoskeleton. The embossed cart strap loop is well stitched and relies on the synthetic leather’s heft to give confidence in its longevity. Speaking of embossment, the single carry strap (positioned on the back of the bag) is well padded and has the RevCore name imprinted into it. While it’s not primarily designed for carrying, the strap makes this a legitimate option, though we might suggest hiring a caddy. It wouldn’t be much different than what we see on TV every week.

In a simple and smart design choice, the RevCore’s two sides mirror each other. Both the pocket layout and accessories are the same on each side. Well, there’s only one umbrella holder, but that would just be overkill. Oversized towel loops frame the 14-way top, and each is crowned with a Velcro section for a glove. Having become accustomed to the sometimes-limited nature of lightweight carry bags, the robust towel loops were especially appreciated. I was the recipient of one of the increasingly popular megatowels not long ago and must confess I hadn’t found a reasonable way to store it on my bag until the RevCore showed up.

RevCore Cart Bag ball pocket

Three large, zippered pockets sit on the front side of the bag and are positioned for things like balls, tees, and divot tools. One feature we missed was the incorporation of a magnetic-closure pocket. When discussing this with CaddyDaddy we learned that this was a decision made to keep the bag’s cost under the $300 price ceiling. Unfortunately, magnets of this strength aren’t cheap, and they would have driven the cost too high. The zippers themselves probably deserve a paragraph of their own, but we’ll spare you by summarizing that the Black Alloy Nickel is very attractive, they are oversized, and extremely well built. Those of you familiar with CaddyDaddy travel bags will find plenty of similarities.

Further expanding on the front pockets, it’s worth noting that this bag is unapologetically packed with storage space. As we noted earlier, Dunlap has shared with us his tendency to carry anything and everything in his golf bag, and the RevCore cart bag was built with this in mind. As a joke I mentioned to somebody I was going to carry a basketball in it, but the conversation got me thinking. Just how much space was there in the largest front pocket? Turns out I won’t be able to play a game of 21 after my next round, but I could play a little beach volleyball if the mood struck me. Yes, the zipper closed.

As noted earlier, each side of the bag is a mirror of the other, with each featuring a full-length pocket for things like the rain cover and extra clothing; a massive, insulated cooler pocket with a drain built in; and a waterproof, velvet lined valuables pocket. We all have things that make sense to us. For some, having the ability to keep a dozen beers cold is a must have. For me, having two large valuables pockets is a godsend. Too often I struggle to find space for my phone, wallet, keys, and rangefinder in a single pocket.

Though conditions haven’t been great recently for golf in the northern state we are in, we did manage to find a golf cart and pushcart to place the RevCore cart bag onto. As expected, the Stay Flat base and cart strap loop worked together to provide a stable, secure fit that wanted to stay in place. With the ample storage space and convenient pocket layout, this could be a fantastic option for a pushcart user that doesn’t mind a little extra weight. The stability and accessible 14-way top made pulling and replacing clubs a breeze.
